Dude no way!!! I listened to that station every week. Pretty sure they played two or three hours a week all the new underground metal back in the day. You were a dj for that station? If so thank you very much for the music. I was just talking about that station the other day. If not for those couple hours a week, I might never heard of bathing, Venom, Slayer, N.M.E., Celtic Frost, the list goes on. Every week I would listen, then write down the bands I liked so I could go but the albums. That station was a huge help for me, so really thank you!
Wow. Great to hear. I was on the air from 85 to 87. Metal Matt on The Rock Gallery. I didn't pick that name, but WTF? Our show was Midnight to 2 am on Tuesdays. And then some most nights. We had access to some very cool shit. Hat's off to Barry. And Ken Jordan to let me do what I did (they gave me free reign). I'm still thankful to have the chance to play this music over the airwaves. It means a lot that you took the time to respond. And listen back. This music is still in my soul and always will be. In the best way. Metal Forever!!!!!!
That's awesome, I was definitely listening to your broadcast back then. I remember hearing Mercyful Fate one night, but you didn't give the name of the album, so I bought both. Listened to Melissa, song wasn't there, then popped in Don't Break the Oath, and first song, A Dangerous Meeting comes on, and there it was. Still my all time favorite album to this day. Most of my friends couldn't take Kings voice, but I freakin loved it.still do lol so anyway, thanks again. Those days were special days, and your program was huge for a lot of young metalheads.
Thanks for remembering. I never really liked talking on the air. I felt it took too much time from the music. Other djs would rattle on endlessly. I loved King Diamond from the start. But like you said, some people didn't.
Bought this vinyl back in the day and wasn't sure how to take it. I hated it and loved it. One night I remember vividly, putting it on the turn table, and I could hear it. Like truly hear it. There was more to it than just a badly produced record, this shit was amazing. Now I no longer hate it, nothing but love for this baby. My only regret in life is I no longer have the vinyl. Glad they reissued it on CD a while back though.
I know right. It gives me extreme Welcome to Hell vibes. As it's horribly recorded and muddy, but like Venom it's all just played out very nicely. Basically Welcome to Hell with more of that punk sound attached with it.
Hey dwightfartschrute, if that's the case then listen to HASTUR from peru, they recorded a demo in 1987 black metal from south America that got re released this year on vinyl no less...man you will love that shit.
Pure chaotic fun, have it on vinyl, one of my favorites.
favorite poorly recorded gem! band scared me as a youth..heard stories of their weirdness. love it to this day. Bass is just kick ass.
This is the True Metal !!!
Loved playing this over the radio on the Rock Gallery in the mid 80s. KUNV Las Vegas!!!

Shoddily executed, poorly recorded metal is my favorite thing in the whole world. I'm not kidding.
Old School

Did you sell this Vinyl?
Nope, gave it and a shitload of other records to a friend of mine. Back when cds were the new thing and records weren’t worth a shit.
I’ve always likened NME as the American equivalent to Hellhammer
i was just thinking this like 20 seconds before i read your comment
Hell yeah!
Feel like the American Venom could be more accurate
THIS is metal
Lot of grim, raw/poorly recorded but great and heavy stuff from the northwest in the 80's NME, Arc Fiend, Acheron (Canada) and a few others.
I like it cause it reminds a lot of Venoms first 2 albums.

"Read the dailystormer"
Haha what? Did they mention the band or something?
I remember when bought this album in 1986. I thought to myself, "well the songs are pretty good, but the production is just awful."
Blutroth Chill
É braba. Uma pena o guitarrista ter matado a mãe...
