I love that "Playing the Filter" advice. I don't have perfect pitch though, so is there any advice to getting the filter to be at right pitch for the individual key I'm pressing? Like, would a tuning app help, or perhaps the graphic EQ, to aim for a peak at the frequency specific to the key in question?

u can get the frequency of any note from a pitch to frequency chart and then map the cutoff to whatever frequency your note is i think

Also digging the Chameleon sample on the hip-hop beat tip :)
Edit: the sample is from Chameleon's "Links" tune, by Tom Middleton & Mark Pritchard, which was hugely popular back in the mid-90s, and featured on LTJ Bukem's first Logical Progression mixtape.

one of my fav tricks for the stock arp, is to automate the "style" , it really brings the arp to life. no one ever does it.

By "style", do you mean - automating the direction the arp will play notes in (e.g. Up, Down, Both, Random)?
