Cal was saying after his win at Phillip Is after Marc crashed out, that he could only slow down while the sun was out, when there was cloud it affected the tyre, another time I was watching there and it suddenly got cold, I went to get my jacket and in two steps it got warmer, I took two steps the other way and same thing it was a finger of cold air that was pointing to MG corner where Lorenzo was and he fell under braking, so weird, came out of nowhere
That is very weird raising the pressure to get more temperatura. Usually a lower tire pressure makes the rubber move more and create more heat. I'm wondering if you got that wrong.
this is why Dorna has just appointed Simon as the new technical director/steward for Moto GP - I for one believe that the minimum tire pressure rule needs to go away -
English is my third language. Listening to the whole video is kinda mumbling to me. I need to replay to get the information. Hopefully motogp put subtitle on masked tech talk video.
Time to get rid of single tyre manufacturer Championships - teams should be allowed to put whatever they want on their bikes. Maybe declare three compounds after free practice that they must stick with, but they shouldn't be tied to a single manufacturer.
@Martin McMartin, then why allow different motorcycle manufacturers. In the past we had Dunlop, Bridgestone, Goodyear many moons ago… Would be interesting if there was another tire manufacturer involved…
@@francoiscoetzee1271 Couldn't agree more. The tyre regulations are senseless - as you've noted they allow different bike manufacturers, and they even allow teams to choose their own fuel suppliers, so why not tyres? It's highly unlikely that a single tyre manufacturer would come up with tyres that work for every track, all weather conditions, every bike manufacturer, and every riding style, so it'd certainly make things more interesting. As has been noted by @AntiPlatitude this is about money - I can't find details of Michelin's latest deal, (till 2026) but when Bridgestone pulled out in 2014/15 they were apparently paying €22m per annum. No idea what Dunlop pay to supply Moto2 and Moto3, but I think it'd be fair to say that Dorna make a LOT of money maintaining the status quo. Doesn't change my view that it'd be more interesting to see several different manufacturers in the grid.
MotoGP 'bubble' - they can't take the risk of a rider or team member catching Covid-19 on race weekend. I'm not saying that I agree with the mask, but that's why he's wearing it.
@@sundownsolutions2 That's what the term "bubble" means - the MotoGP paddock are all working within the same environment, with an agreement that they won't step outside of that "bubble" for the duration of the season* - it's effectively a method of quarantine. Simon Crafar, though an ex rider, is a journalist/broadcaster. MotoGP is not alone in operating this system - it's the only way that sport has been allowed to continue over the last two years, though of course there are plenty of instances of sportspeople catching Covid-19. The international nature of the sport also has to be taken into account - different countries have different rules concerning Covid-19, so they'll be looking for assurances from Dorna that the MotoGP paddock is safe to enter their respective country. Personally I'm not concerned about journalists wearing masks - if that's what must be done for sport to continue then so be it. Apparently 5 million people have died (globally) from Covid in the last two years, while sporting authorities have tried to maintain their respective sports. I'm no expert in disease transmission - I'm only going by what I've noticed, and by what I've heard - I doubt that Simon Crafar is wearing a mask for the hell of it.
Thanks again Simon for an insight to what is a very dark art😎
As Always well delivered. One of the better series GP does. And I love the satellite KTM bikes, looking for to seeing them do better.
I enjoy these detailed tutorials. Can you do one on the different engine configurations?
Thank you, Mr. Crafar! We always enjoy the tech talks very much indeed. 👍👍

Great topic as it is 43degrees Fahrenheit here in Central, Texas this morning. Brrrrr.
Hola sería excelente el vídeo también en español.
In this case the wings help increase front tires temperature. Is it right ?

This is probably a business decision by Dorna.
Dorna wants a riders championship, not a tyre manufacturer's one.

Does he really need a mask in that controlled environment. Really.
No he doesn’t. It’s all virtue signaling
Take off your mask simon, you're alone. Its blur your voice plus they not put any subtitle. Sometime your word isn't clear enough
Lose the mask 😷 it does nothing 🙄
Lose the mask, good information but the mask makes your voice “Mushy”
What's the point of wearing that mask to talk to a camera? Can't hear a thing.
It’s called virtue signaling.
IF I WANT ONBOARD AGAIN
There's no one around you take off that chin diaper so we can hear you better. This is ridiculous.
Paddock requirement maybe even if no one about to stop potentially dangerous spores getting airborne ?
You may explain without wearing mask .. cause you are alone.make your word more clear

Body , take your mask off next time,
