It’s easy to have perfect hindsight which you obviously didn’t have as you made these hard decisions as young unknowns. Thank God your instincts were correct!
Interesting story. Not clear exactly what the "producer" does? I think something similar happened to David Grisman, if I'm not mistaken. His music was a little bit outside the proverbial music business box at the time. I heard early in his career he had trouble generating interest from the big labels so he produced his own. Still a puzzlement to this day how anyone could have blown off his music - a premier artist.
