The DP anime was a major turning point for the anime because it acted as both a beginning and an ending. It was the last series that used the original formula and executed it perfectly. However, it also defined what future series should strive to be by setting the groundwork.
Explain to me, how was it the last series that used the "original formula"? Did XY not follow the "original formula"? Blatantly copy-pasting what is said in the video doesn't make you cool.
the fact they had an episode about Chimchar being surprised being in Ash's crew that he wasnt constantly scolded and abused and actually treated fairly really is incredible
@@jlit5215 I'm serious. Yes, DP was fantastic, but as Zac, Polly and Ginger pointed out, this series has some flaws, like filler, character development, etc. XY completes redesigns the whole structure of Pokemon animation by giving us a fantastic series, which includes character developments, scripted battles, the Kalos League and that amazing animation. It also gives us some of the best arcs in the anime, period. The Ash-Greninja mastery arc, Kalos League, Team Flare and surprisingly, the Mega Evolution specials. Then, we speak about Serena, hands down the most beautiful and well written character Pokemon ever gave us. Everything- her personality, character development, Amourshipping... everything was so good. Screw Misty, Serena should be Ash's wife. Even the battles in Kalos were so fantastic! If people ever remember Gen 6, its is because of the anime, not the games. Sun and Moon too switches things up, with the most drastic change being the animation change. But Sun and Moon is actually my favourite series so far- it completely shows us the true character of Ash Ketchum- goofy, brave, kind and friendly. It also had some drawbacks, but the good outweighs the bad. Sun and Moon had some enjoyable filler, with around 99% of the filler being good. Then, it has the character-developing episodes for the Alola gang. It also gave personality to every companion/prominent character. Then, it portrayed life in Alola in such a beautiful way (that Litten episode was tear jerking...). Then, it completely showcased the life of people and Pokemon. And Ash's team was so freaking diverse and strong. We've got God Rowlet, doggo Lycanroc, Blast Torracat, cute Poipole, MYTHICAL Melmetal and the insanely OP Pikachu. Even the Alola gang's Pokemon were very well written, even the characters themselves. And then, oh boy, then are its arcs. And there are NO shortage of them- Litten's arc, Aether Paradise arc, Ultra Guardians arc, the brilliant Necrozma arc, and everybody's favorite arc, the Alola League. The Ash vs Kukui is still the best battle in the anime, form me and other Alola stans. So, now tell me. What is DP in front of XY and SM?
I remember when DP originally aired, so many fans were outraged that Brock "suddenly" decided to become a Pokemon doctor. Um...what? It's been hinted at forever!
They probably forgot since there are so many episodes. I feel like you have to be more on the nose whenever you make character shifts over a long span of time.
@@RM-56 even if you don't remember that many specifics, Brock caring for Pokemon and knowing a lot about how to treat them has been a consistent part of his character since his first episodes in kanto. Combine that with the episode right before he made his choice featuring him acting as essentially a doctor and its not hard to see why he might decide to become a doctor even if you don't remember the individual episodes that well.
It definitely is funny how DP did the double protagonist concept better than Journeys has without the writers even having to declare the series as doing that. It really goes to show just how well written and natural that DP was
Diamond and Pearl really had that perfect blend of character development, memorable episodes (*including* filler), menacing antagonists, and some of the most technical, amazingly-written battles this whole series has ever seen. It's easily my favorite saga.
Amazingly-writen is an overstatement, I can think of mistakes on the top of my head like: Paul's Electovire using Giga impact without having to not move for a bit while Empoleon had to not move for a bit because of Hyperbeam in the same battle.
@@nunuandwillump1107 a few minor mistakes don't ruin something. I quality is a matter of its positives vs it's negatives, you don't only judge quality on the things something does poorly just as you wouldn't judge it based solely on the things it does well.
@@nunuandwillump1107 there is an explanation for it. If the pokemon is strong in anime, then recoil and recharge doesn't matter very much. Empoleon was strong, but electrivire was far much stronger than it. The same thing happened when Blaze Infernape used flare blitz. It just moved from the shock and nothing much happened. The base for this statement is the usage of Z moves in the anime. Kukui told if the pokemon is well trained, they won't get tired up after performing one Z move
Well, yeah, I loved it very much, but it would have been also cool to bring Bulbasaur. It was such a beast in Indigo and Johto, and even took out two of Brandon's pokemon.
@@marki3367 i find it funny how every time a new generation is added the people who write the pokemon anime temporarily ship the new pokegirl with ash until a new generation comes out and they part ways
DP was such a great end to the original Pokemon anime era. It was the first time we had a character who was just as important as Ash (Dawn) and Ash really seemed like he’d learnt from all his past experiences. Also the continuity was great, it had so many references to all the previous anime series.
@@charzinc3492 Dawn was my first big anime crush and I still find her beautiful to this day!!! Mainly I just love her fasion style and sweet but sassy personality and I would wholeheartly love to have her as a friend if she was real!

@@soraandkairi1194 Ah I miss DP now that we talk about this 🥲. But as for Misty and May and I can’t speak with absolute certainty, aint no way I’m getting along with Misty lol, May a bit better but still not as well as with Dawn imo. So happy that Dawn is a recurring character in JN, just wish i was up to JN 😩. I feel like I need to watch everything to really feel it if you get what Im saying
I love diamond and pearl the overarching goal and story is just incredible with Brock finding his goal, Dawn reaching hers, and Ash try to be a Pokémon master. I also love that all the Pokémon have an overarching personality and kind of like there own story to tell, and you can't find any of those stuff as good as you can find it in diamond and pearl
I loved how paul was present every time chimchar evolved and witnessed it getting stronger and stronger And electivire wasn't bad and all I mean it stopped the referee from declaring infernape as fainted and it encouraged it to get up
This was Ash's peak season. It tackled heavy moments with Hunter Jay, gave him an awesome rival in Paul and during the Pokemon league instead of keeping his region team for the whole thing, he was smart to rotate through all his pokemon. That showed real growth in him. Dawn and Brock were great too.
Yessss Ash was extremely strong in this series! This is also why i think he totally burnt himself before he went to Unova. I loved that D and P gave ash paul as a rival! I'd argue that paul is ash's best rival. At first, i thought that gary was the perfect rival, but nope. PAUL was perfect!
This is the Most Underrated Pokemon Channel Not only is it an Anime Based Channel, this channel talks about Games too! It's balanced...This guy needs as much fame as Michael, Ron, Alex and Ethan Dobbs
DP was definitely an improvement over pretty much everything that preceded it. gym battles had more strategy, rivalries were more personal, and contests were more visually spectacular. always felt that contests in advanced were nothing more than talent shows with pokemon moves, but this series turned them into fireworks/light shows
Whenever I see things related to DP, I always think about the theme songs High Touch (the only duet in the series; Ash and Dawn style) and One (You're the One) and how tactical Ash was this season. Like, he was so cool. No Mega, Z moves or Dynamax. Just using normal moves and pokemon abilities in a creative way. How much he grew up as a trainer because of Paul. And the character development of Ash and Dawn. This season really felt like the perfect end for Ash's journey. It would have been satisfying if he won here.
Oh god! Those two songs you mentioned are so iconic from the DP saga and they're really HUGE nostalgia fuel! I remember singing High Touch and One as a child over and over again (even though I don't understand Japanese). I also wanna include Dawn's iconic song, By Your Side (and all the unique versions that comes with it) =D
Yes i agree, also i think high touch is the only song in the anime that rica mastumoto (ash's voice) having a duet with one of the voice actress of ash's companions megumi toygouchi (Dawn's voice actress) XD
@@BuizelCream In Your Heart is also beautiful. Dawn even said, "Because I love you who tries harder than anyone else". And we all know who she's referring to. So cute.
One is my favourite song of this series. But I actually loved many songs from dp and I still listen to them. Battle cry from English dub was great too.
Ash had an amazing connection with all of the Pokemon he caught, and this is the best roaster he had: - Pikachu - Infernape - Torterra - Staraptor - Buizel - Gliscor - Gible ALL OF THEM ARE GREAT!
@@Phil-jp4cz Why would they do that? Wouldn't they WANT more exposure to Black and White if they love it so much? Or did they just expect him to completely shit on it, which he didn't?
@@SkyxTct I like Black and White, but mostly because it was my first series. Can't ever forget your original. My favorites are Diamond and Pearl, and Kalos, with Sun and Moon a hit behind.
Ash only brought one Pokémon to his 5th battle, and had to go to the Pokémon center to get another one 🤦🏾♂️ Ash going from top 4 in Sinnoh to Top 8 in Unova and losing to an inexperienced trainer. And of course IRIS being the worst companion OMG
@@ElectroBlastLuigi I mean I was expecting the video will be even bigger as there is lots of great things to talk about DP afterall it improved many things from past series. Also Zac only talk about single Episode there in JN reviews while here he and other 2 talking about entire series.
@@inamdaryasin Understandable how Zac and two other people are discussing a series for this long but then by your logic, the longer the video is in False Swipe Gaming's case, the better the Pokemon is in competitive battling. Urshifu is the best Pokemon if the video talks about it for over 30 minutes even if it's a new Pokemon.
Conway is very close to how I imagine an older Max, especially their battling styles. When Conway first shows up in the Hearthome Tag Battles, he deliberately hangs back and plays defense for Dawn, as that's his battling style. Every time Max did a battle in the AG series, he was also very defensive, in one battle he never got around to actually calling an attack before Team Rocket interrupted.
Agreed. This group is my favorite because Infernape’s my all time favorite ash mon, Buizel and Gliscor are two of my favorites and Staraptor and Gible are also great. I even like Torterra despite the anime doing it dirty.
@@Dan-wd1xs Yeah, Ash's team this series was solid overall and extremely memorable, especially Infernape, which was easily the single most important Pokemon that any character owned in that series, and the payoff of seeing it win against Paul in the end and see it live up to the great potential that both trainers tried to bring out was the best moment of this series hands down. .........On a side note, I feel like the reason why Ash's Torterra was done so dirty was because they attempted to focus on it's speed it lost by evolving rather than leaning into mastering a more defense oriented battle style like it was originally stated would suit it better. I actually go into more detail about this in a response comment elsewhere in this comment section, but to make it brief here: the anime writers give it rock climb after it evolves to make up for the loss in speed it received due to it's greater size and weight, and Ash begins to use that move a lot more afterwards, ultimately derailing the development it should have gotten.
As much I love Sun and Moon and XYZ over DP. DP will forever go down in Pokemon for having the greatest character arc of all time with Infernape in the Pokemon anime, the greatest storyline in the Pokemon anime in Ash and Paul, the best companion in Dawn and the greatest battle in the Pokemon anime: Ash vs Paul
@@ardi9661 The Kalos league battles are visually great but battles themselves are just bad if you actually watch what is going on with those as there is so much plot armor it makes thunder armor look legit...
I also enjoyed the diamond and pearl movies. How they tied the Darkrai, Giratina and Arceus movies all together. That was really cool how they did that in the diamond and pearl anime era
Hunter J was definitely one of the best things about DP. She was a breath of fresh air. It's clear that she had never failed a job until she met Ash and the gang, and she absolutely ruthless to the point that she went out of her way to try and get rid of Ash. On top of that, she went out with a bang (pun intended) in one of the best sequences in the whole anime.
I think its the best goodbye ive seen in the anime and I've watched every end goodbye there is except advanced. And I've watched advanced now and its still the best one
THIS IS THE TRUE DUAL PROTAGONIST SERIES. Goh is clearly shifts the views on him, and Ash almost feels like he's here only for branding. Meanwhile, for almost of all DP's run, both Ash and Dawn were equally important for the story, there development was also equally important: both had a crisis of persona, a redemption, and a payoff. So yeah, DP is doing the stuff JN known for way better, then years earlier
@@dabuff1319 It's not that big of a train wreck as people make it out it atleats had a bamber villain arc and I want zach to say something good about Unova that has nothing to do with krookedile since that is the only thing he praises about unova
I can review each BW dub season easily. S1: Controversial start, but it had it’s moments. Rival Destinies: Started out horribly, but got better as it went along and the ending was spectacular! Adventures in Unova and Beyond: Start was bad, Middle was fine, Ending was bad See? Simple!
@@Dan-wd1xs adventures in unova and beyond was filler central. Erase that entire season from the anime (except the transition to XY) and u remove absolutely nothing. It’s like that time period between christmas and new year’s, you completely lose track of where you even are with the anime in this case
@@DragonForceAnimeReviews Paul didn't use it as much as he should of. I kinda wanted it to join the ranks of Ursaring, Drapion, and Electivire as a mon that beats half of Ash's team on it's own lmao.
Honestly there were two reasons it lost so much 1. Torterra could never used one of it's best moves earthquake. I understand the reasons for it but if Torterra could use it would made a HUGE difference in battles like Electivire and Drapion. 2. Torterra was subjected to the laws of anime logic which dictates when a character won or lost a fight a. Hippowdon: This was a battle with an elite 4, who can only be beaten by the champion or a trainer of equal power. b. Electivire: It was a battle with the strongest gym leader in Sinnoh, it would look bad if he lost the first battle, plus the writers usually go with Ash being the one at a disadvantage first. c. Drapion: Paul had to take the lead and Ash made the mistake of using synthesis at the wrong time.
One other positive that I'd like to point out is that I think the animators were a lot more creative this season, which seriously beefed up the contests and helped make the era more memorable
Infernape is my favorite Pokémon Ash has ever had. I went through something really similar to what Infernape went through and I can really relate to it on a personal level as a result

YAYY DP!! Where unlike before regions ash had a companion equal to him where they worked hard together Where we had the best Pokémon chimchar who claimed his position and Where we had one of the best rivals in the Pokémon series..... PAUL!
For me, Paul was definitely Ash's most memorable rival he ever had, which is one of several reasons why he's considered by many to be the best rival. He and Zoey both where extremely memorable, despite having completely opposite relationships with their main rivals: Paul was a jerk who only cared about catching the most powerful Pokemon he can find, and his multiple wins against Ash seem to prove (at least at first) why he's the better trainer between the 2 of them. Zoey, on the other hand, is always friendly nice and encouraging towards not just Dawn, but also Ash as well, going so far as to stick up for him against Paul in one episode, and she ultimately proved that a rival doesn't have to be a jerk to be a good rival to someone else. It's a little disappointing that Dawn never actually beat her in the end, but I was never really made to feel salty about this, and this is for 2 main reasons: 1) She was always shown to be more talented than Dawn, and as a result, was often times the one who was giving advice rather than receiving it, and this was as consistent a trait for her as her overall pleasantness as a character. 2) She was always more of a friend to Dawn than anything else, and she was easily Dawn's biggest cheerleader (aside from Ash, obviously). Because of this I don't think it mattered which one of the two of them won in the end, since it wouldn't affect their relationship much regardless of who ultimately came out on top. Because of this, while I did like Paul (moreso as a rival to Ash than anything else), I enjoyed Zoey as a character more overall, and find her to be a somewhat underrated rival character, personally.

Best series by far. XY and AG are next. Ash was at his peak and his team was so diverse. Paul was the perfect rival and there will never be anyone close to him. The infernape storyline was amazing. Cynthia was sensational along with team galactic and Hunter J. Brock was at his very best. Dawn is a top 3 companion of Ash, along with Serena and May. The continuity was great bringing back his old pokemom along with characters like May and Gary. The series has withstood the test of time and Ash’s battle with Paul is still the best in the anime, more than 10 years later
The ingredients of this anime saga were just right. This was a delight from start to finish as all the mayor points are focused on and everything on what is right or wrong is on point. Dp is one of the best sagas of Pokemon and this review is fantastic on showing it.
Diamond and Pearl was the first series I watched as it aired and probably still my favourite to this day. Before this Pokémon was generally an on-off thing, this series actually made me fall in love with the franchise.
My fav series is Diamond and Pearl and thanks making this video. My fav character is Dawn and I think this video make me more like this series. Yeah all series is not perfect but Diamond and Pearl is the best for me.For me,this anime series has very unique character designs and personality like Dawn that have a greatest tagline of the all that is “No need to worry” or “Daijoubu, daijoubu” in Japanese that very inspiring me every time I have a problem or exam as a example.Good review and make me want to watch it again.
listening to dawn's catchphrase is actually relaxing and fun when your have exam, online presentation, online classes or assignment problems (just like me XD)
I knew there was "no need to worry" about this review. It was really good at pointing out DP's high highs and low lows. DP really did feel like the great end to the sort of original series format. Sure the change was nice but man did the old era go out with a bang! R.I.P to the girl Ambipomb. She did not deserve that absolute slam she got in her last few episodes. The pain was almost on par with Ash's loss to Tobias. *Almost.*
Ok I just want to say, before I even watch your video, the Diamond and Pearl is my all time favorite, I have seen it all in its original form in Japanese, with english subtitles which was a dream of mine to see at least 1 Pokemon anime that way and I got my wish with this series, so it makes it even more exciting to see this from someone who is also a fan and has seen the the entire series!
Sinnoh got dark, and I was astonished when Hunter J died, like...sure we’ve had dead characters before, way back when in Gen 1 when Ash spent a night as a ghost in the Pokémon tower with Ghost Pokemon, or that Gastly at Maiden’s Peak or whatever...but those were temporary things, Ash returned to his body, and the other was just a ghost Pokémon. Someone legit DIED in Pokémon, in a genuinely terrifying way, drowning in a whirlpool and basically confirmed with her visor being swallowed up by the current. By extension we also saw the power of the Lake Guardians, to create a whirlpool in a last ditch effort to protect their homes.
The DP anime was a major turning point for the anime because it acted as both a beginning and an ending. It was the last series that used the original formula and executed it perfectly. However, it also defined what future series should strive to be by setting the groundwork.

@Mister Perfection true but ash didn't bring his strongest team either
The character arc of infernape, ash's humbleness and battle strategy, awesome rival. This is my favourite series so far
the fact they had an episode about Chimchar being surprised being in Ash's crew that he wasnt constantly scolded and abused and actually treated fairly really is incredible
@@jlit5215 I agree with you 3000
XY and Sun and Moon are way better than this crap
@@dhruvanand6695 damn dude, nice opinion. Good job backing it up and stating your reason, really nailed the part where you said some hateful nonsense
Then, it portrayed life in Alola in such a beautiful way
(that Litten episode was tear jerking...).
Wait for real?!
@@comics4556 Yep! I distinctly remember multiple people on the forums saying it was a sudden copout. I rolled my eyes at them all.
I FOUND BROCK OPENING HIS EYES THOUGH
It definitely is funny how DP did the double protagonist concept better than Journeys has without the writers even having to declare the series as doing that. It really goes to show just how well written and natural that DP was
Gives me even more confidence when saying that Dawn is my favorite companion.
Diamond and Pearl really had that perfect blend of character development, memorable episodes (*including* filler), menacing antagonists, and some of the most technical, amazingly-written battles this whole series has ever seen. It's easily my favorite saga.
Ash/Satoshi won againts a competitive player and lost to a hacker XD.
One character I truly despise is Pokémon Hunter J. She is overall an evil person with no chance at redemption.
This was a lot of fun! Thanks Zac for making this whole thing a reality!

Before XY onwards
Yessss Ash was extremely strong in this series! This is also why i think he totally burnt himself before he went to Unova. I loved that D and P gave ash paul as a rival! I'd argue that paul is ash's best rival. At first, i thought that gary was the perfect rival, but nope. PAUL was perfect!
This is the Most Underrated Pokemon Channel
Not only is it an Anime Based Channel, this channel talks about Games too! It's balanced...This guy needs as much fame as Michael, Ron, Alex and Ethan Dobbs
This was the most diverse series as to character building for a lot of the pokemon

Conway looks like a teenager version of Max.
That will forever haunt my mind lol
at least he isn't as annoying as max.
I always joke about that with my mates
Do not compare god to satan
DP was my childhood. It started around the time I went to Kindergarten, and I'm in college now. How time flies...
This series has my favourite group of Ash’s Pokémon.
Agreed. This group is my favorite because Infernape’s my all time favorite ash mon, Buizel and Gliscor are two of my favorites and Staraptor and Gible are also great. I even like Torterra despite the anime doing it dirty.
Same, not my top fave but it’s definitely a runner-up
@@Dan-wd1xs Yeah, Ash's team this series was solid overall and extremely memorable, especially Infernape, which was easily the single most important Pokemon that any character owned in that series, and the payoff of seeing it win against Paul in the end and see it live up to the great potential that both trainers tried to bring out was the best moment of this series hands down.
.........On a side note, I feel like the reason why Ash's Torterra was done so dirty was because they attempted to focus on it's speed it lost by evolving rather than leaning into mastering a more defense oriented battle style like it was originally stated would suit it better.
Same
Man pauls torteraa was actually bad ass
As much I love Sun and Moon and XYZ over DP. DP will forever go down in Pokemon for having the greatest character arc of all time with Infernape in the Pokemon anime, the greatest storyline in the Pokemon anime in Ash and Paul, the best companion in Dawn and the greatest battle in the Pokemon anime: Ash vs Paul
I agree with most of this except I prefer Serena over Dawn but yeah
I personally dislike Paul and Lillie’s my favorite pokegirl but Dawns definitely my 2nd favorite
Stop judging pokegirls on their relationship with Ash
@@ardi9661 The Kalos league battles are visually great but battles themselves are just bad if you actually watch what is going on with those as there is so much plot armor it makes thunder armor look legit...
I dunno about Ash vs electivire. I think the 3 way episodes kinda made it hard to keep up. Just do it in 1 episode. Infernape only won cause of blaze

And actually won more than it lost. If they let torterra fully evolve they should make it good, not garbage
Honestly there were two reasons it lost so much
1. Torterra could never used one of it's best moves earthquake. I understand the reasons for it but if Torterra could use it would made a HUGE difference in battles like Electivire and Drapion.
2. Torterra was subjected to the laws of anime logic which dictates when a character won or lost a fight

And where da faq you get xy is better than dp can you give me the link? Anyway you must be a kid if you think xy is better than dp in anyway other than battle animation and I can bet you don't even know what is called best story and character development. So it's meaningless to argue with a kid
@BHARGAV MEHTA anyway I'm not saying xy is bad it's obviously 2nd or 3rd best anime series. In anime dp is the best series one one can beat it and in games bw is the best game no other pokemon game can beat it
@BHARGAV MEHTA hey kid aren't you the one who were also arguing with others in different comment section that Serena's goodbye was better than dawn's goodbye. Then everyone destroyed you and you deleted your comments🤣. Your actions are telling you're just a kid. So when are you gonna delete these comments? 🤣
You said bonny and clement are better partner than brock🤦♂️🤦♂️ which is more than enough for me to understand that you're a kid. grow up kid then you'll understand what is a good story. And that is called character development not great development 🤣. And hey you know dp came out at 2006 so if even I grew up watching dp then I'm already more adult and mature than you 10 year old kiddo well to be fair I grew up watching hoenn. And mommy is waiting for ya sleep well kiddo
Arguably one of the best features in dp is paul
Ye lol. Though Most peeps thought he was a jerk. Well he is still a jerk until after the Sinnoh league. But I think people like him cause he’s a jerk
@@YoNo671 I hate him he ruthless and cruel.
Before Iron Man and Thanos,
There was Ash and Paul.
Yees
No, more like
Goku and Vegeta
Naruto and Sasuke
This is the Best Series yet. Love how Dawn was handled and the relationship between her and Ash. And Paul? What isn't there to say about the guy?
Man I wish ash meets all of his Pokemon again
I feel like he will meet with some again in journeys later on they already brought back the alolan Pokémon for an episode
My favorite i wanted and waited for this diomand and pearl
You spell diamond wrong go edit your post and fix it😉
@@poroknight5937 and please don't use that Cringy emoji
Diamond and pearl was one of my favourite Series. This three had lot of good chemistry between them. And
I was a pearlshipper.
Even if they didn’t get together, and Serena was better for shipping. Dawn was my favorite pokegirl and I wish we saw more of her.
Was? I'm still a Pearlshipper. Ash and Dawn's dynamic is brilliant.
@@markshadow02 yes bro.we Don't have to be a amourshiper know that. They shipped them (ash and Serena) But I wish to see dawn in Pokemon journeys.
@@pharaohyami5000 Yeah bro the chemistry between them was great.
@@pharaohyami5000 I'm still a bit if one lol. Sure ship amourshipping but Im chilling with mine
It’s funny how what are usually considered the worst evil teams in the games have the best anime arcs
Ikr? And the best have the worst arcs.
The worst games have the best anime adaptation, and the best games have the worst.
Yeah. Best example is Team flare
@@percygekkouga2151 Except Emerald.... if you cound the Battle Frontier adaptation an adaptation of Emerald (even though is more a FireRed an GreenLeaf adaptations).
MAYBE give or take Sun and Moon being a good game with a good anime season (depending if you prefer the more comedic season or not)
Although is somehow sad and funny how the anime is the only medium in which some of Gen 6 elements (Ash Greninja, Zygarde) get to shine in the respective region they got introduced.
I like to believe Hunter J never died and she ditched her crew and flew away on her salamance before the ship felling in the lake and exploding
@Disorder On the bright side at least all the crew's and J's pokemon didn't die. Safe and sound in their pokeballs.
Yeaah was already waiting for that *filler* moment since its 191 episodes for just one region.
Dawn's high five was better than serena's goodbye
@@harshitjain7140 I think there is one word called personal opinion. And btw we have same name. Nice
I agree with you 100% Multi Purpose
@박서준 I gotta disagree with you there chief.
I will say that it was way more emotional
Heck yeah, she's better than Serena in any other way. Same goes with May
YAYY DP!!
Where unlike before regions ash had a companion equal to him where they worked hard together
Where we had the best Pokémon chimchar who claimed his position and
Where we had one of the best rivals in the Pokémon series.....
It's a little disappointing that Dawn never actually beat her in the end, but I was never really made to feel salty about this, and this is for 2 main reasons:
1) She was always shown to be more talented than Dawn, and as a result, was often times the one who was giving advice rather than receiving it, and this was as consistent a trait for her as her overall pleasantness as a character.
My favorite moment of this series is when Cynthia absolutely bodies paul and gets ice cream afterwards
I honestly believe NO rival will ever top Paul. His character was so well written it's hard to top that.
What about Gladion?
@@davidedalterio4979 he appeard barely out of silvally and lycanroc his other pokemon were not shown as OP
his character was not well developed as gary or paul but it was good
@@laxusstrauss5945 One issue that Gladion had is a similar issue that every other trainer in the Alolan region had. That being that other than Kukui, nobody in the Alolan region has a full team or even half a full team. The only known trainers with 3 or more pokemon are Kiawe with 3 (Turtonator, Charizard, Alolan Marowak), Gladion with 4 (Umbreon, Lycanroc Midnight Form, Silvally, and Zoroark), and Ash with 5 (Pikachu, Rowlet, Lycanroc Dusk Form, Incineroar, and Melmetal). I honestly got kind of excited when I saw Gladions 2nd pokemon in the championship match use a bunch of dark type moves because I knew it was Zoroark. We don't even know if Hau or Guzma had more than 2 because they were never shown. It kind of makes me wonder if Kukui/The Masked Royal would have handicapped himself if Ash hadn't won, seeing as even Ash had to use Naganadel just to be on equal footing with Kukui.
DP Anime was the best Imo. Had the best Characters, League, Pokémon development and things of the such. INFERNAPE DEVELOPMENT THOOOO!!!
And then Tobias happened
Duuuude i can’t wait for this review! Obviously DP has some cons to it but it still remains as my top 2 regions ash has traveled to! I love everything about it
I can't wait to see what happens for the BW and XYZ reviews. Also, don't you think that Ash, Dane and Brock all got some great development this time? Huh? What do you mean her name is Dawn?
I freaking love this series. Great characters, great battles, great themes, it's just like you said, the writers really perfected the formula they initially strived to accomplish. It really was the end of an era. I cried at the ending. Awesome review Zach.
DUDE I totally forgot about the draco meteor running gag! That was the best!
Can't wait...
to think we only have 3 more reviews after this. I'm especially interested to see his thoughts on the last 3 in particular.
Let's just say black and white is gonna get it worse than the other two
Black and White and XYZ especially will definitely get some heat
@@animetechnoblade1009Can agree on that. Still, though, despite for all it's flaws I'll say XYZ has held up remarkably well in comparison to BW. Have a feeling that XY and SM are going to get some good reviews along with BW. It's gonna be a good one for next week. Some good stuff hidden in the mess of bad things.
@@pokelover1743 I’m not much of a fan of XYZ because of quite a lot of personal gripes I have with it
But I will say that XYZ will definitely not get as much of a gut punch as BW will (or rather they’ll try not to as it’s probably the most controversial season in the anime)
I'd love to see distinct reviews of some of those tournament arcs like the Tag Team one, the Wallace Cup, and even the older Whirl Cup.
My favorite series! Not only the series but the movies as well, I remember someone saying that Dawn and Brock are amazing characters on their own, but when you pair them with Ash it just gets to another level. I think this series is peak Pokemon until this day.
Dont know how I forgot about J
She really was an exceptionaly dangerous women.
Actually after playing sun and moon and when the anime was about to start I was excited about lusamine considering what she just tried to do to lillie in the game.
I thought she may be developed somewhat like J but who hides her hideous side .......... but sadly that didn't happen yet sun and moon was a good series.
This series was the pinocle of my childhood
This could’ve and should’ve been Ash’s last series if he won the league and Dawn won the Grand Festival
Change my mind!
The dp series was actually my first and favourite pokemon series
And many of its ideas were great which was not in other series
Example-- Sun and moon focuses on power of z moves but here they shows
1. Best pokemons ( fully evolved)
2. Best abilities ( blaze , static , motordrive)
3. Best moves ( volt tackle , giga impact, flare blitz, brave bird, draco meteor , leaf storm etc)
4. Emotional bonding ( chimchar arc)
5. Combination moves ( too many to name)
And most important
6. Bringing back many old pokemons and showing the work and effort of training in previous seasons in important matches ( sinnoh league semi finals)
GOOD GOOD SMILE 😭💜💙 Broski just keeps cooking up masterpiece after masterpiece 🔥 This one hit me in the feels. My childhood favourite series 😭 Big shoutout to @ageoftrades @AnimatedGinger and @SilverStorm100 You guys made this one so special. Thank you for this. DP 💙💜
Ayyy Raf my man
I really love the review of Diamond and Pearl, I started watching Pokémon Diamond and Pearl a long time ago and I I liked it. I really enjoyed your review and I hope you continue making more interesting Pokémon videos.😁
Diamond and Pearl and the XY were definitely the best anime when it came to the grandiose spectacle of fight scenes which was where the animation rlly started to kick, alongside the wonderful captivating character arcs and buildup
Lol I like how at 5:28 Brock’s Crogunk laughs at Brock when he gets rejected by the girl he was trying to propose to.
Yeah croagunk always desired for that. 😂😂
I really wish torterra had been given a one on one with Paul's and shown how much it had grown that would have been cool, like student becoming the master
I may have stopped liking the anime, but the Diamond and Pearl saga will always hold a special place in my heart.
Amazing review guys! Sinnoh will always have a special place for me but honestly I forgot about the HGSS arc
I must say I am REALLY glad to hear a lady participate in this video. I love the colabs in this series of yours and am so overjoyed to see a lady join in as I see so many pokemon youtubers are mostly men. We don't have enough ladies in the pokemon youtuber community and it is so great to see her in this video!
Are we sure that brock was with Uxie due to their eyes
LUL thats what i was thinking LUL
Best series by far. XY and AG are next. Ash was at his peak and his team was so diverse. Paul was the perfect rival and there will never be anyone close to him. The infernape storyline was amazing. Cynthia was sensational along with team galactic and Hunter J. Brock was at his very best. Dawn is a top 3 companion of Ash, along with Serena and May. The continuity was great bringing back his old pokemom along with characters like May and Gary. The series has withstood the test of time and Ash’s battle with Paul is still the best in the anime, more than 10 years later
I think the ash and dawn friendship and dynamic is what made this series so good
The ingredients of this anime saga were just right.
Oh boy, I've been waiting for this one. It's gonna be amazing.
My fav series is Diamond and Pearl and thanks making this video. My fav character is Dawn and I think this video make me more like this series. Yeah all series is not perfect but Diamond and Pearl is the best for me.For me,this anime series has very unique character designs and personality like Dawn that have a greatest tagline of the all that is “No need to worry” or “Daijoubu, daijoubu” in Japanese that very inspiring me every time I have a problem or exam as a example.Good review and make me want to watch it again.
listening to dawn's catchphrase is actually relaxing and fun when your have exam, online presentation, online classes or assignment problems
(just like me XD)
