So powerful !!!! The voice, the keyboard, the drums, the guitar, the bass guitar, every note seems to be perfect ! The most impressive thing to me, is the fact that everyone there was there for the pure golden music !!! I always have to listen to this with headphones, slightly on the high side, eyes closed and playing it twice !
I was a little guy in the early 70's when this came out. and immediately fell in love with it. For some reason I liked radio rock when I was little and that led me into the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) in the late 70' and to the Metal days of the 80's. Regardless of that, this song was a great piece of work for the time it was made in. The Hollies were awesome.
In 1972 while listing to this song in DC, actually working for the FBI, our supervisor would let us listen, on low volume, to a pop station. When this song was played we would always turn up the volume on the "FBI" words in the song. Mrs. L was a fine old lady. It was great to be young then, and right out of college.
The thumbs down icon doesn't count the number of people who didn't like the song. It measures the number of clueless, ignorant dipshits who listened to the song.
Dad used to jam this in the boat the second we hit the lake no matter if it was 2am or 2 in the afternoon. Music CARRIES on the water.Espescially with 4 sets of 6 by 9's! Which I thought was pretty cool in the late 80's, and I still do
The change in The Hollies' trademark sound on this record was their attempt to copy the swamp-rock sound of American artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival and Tony Joe White, and they did it perfectly.
when I end up in a care home suffering from dementia, please visit me, show me a hard copy of this screenshot and tell me it’s a photo of my wife. Thank you.
I remember this song well. It was a favorite in Vietnam where I was when it came out. The Hollies were a fantastic band and one of my favorites at the time.
It's in feet and inches. The type measurement came from Great Britain . The U.S. was suppose to convert over to the metric system about 50 years ago, but we haven't gotten around to it. ( really.) Possibly , because our lumber measurements were also in feet and inches. Carpenters of old age wouldn't be good at converting. The vertical upright used to build housing walls comes in 8 foot lengths, called studs, usually of pine. The "foot" part originated around the length of a man's foot. We still use "gallon " to buy and sell gasoline.
I been listening to this song most of my life and this is the first time I actually paid attention to the lyrics! This would make a GREAT Robert Mitchum movie c.1948!

if you are thinking about her legs, you are going it wrong....
stuck on the back of her knee? lmao
Dad used to jam this in the boat the second we hit the lake no matter if it was 2am or 2 in the afternoon. Music CARRIES on the water.Espescially with 4 sets of 6 by 9's! Which I thought was pretty cool in the late 80's, and I still do
I love how RUclips is the closest thing to a time machine we have!!!
Like the simple crisp guitar, one of their best. Thanks for puttin' this on.
That's the spirit, get into the feel of it y'all . Gina Beck
The change in The Hollies' trademark sound on this record was their attempt to copy the swamp-rock sound of American artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival and Tony Joe White, and they did it perfectly.
andyinoregon It's because Graham Nash left and they needed to go in a different direction. He had written everything they had done.

Better run through the jungle, don't look back!

Don't know why some guys find that intimidating. I see it as that much more to feast my eyes upon.
You should always feel good about yourself. You are in control.
Susan...be patient...don't settle...be picky...set your standards...
Great Job! Those lyrics are so hard to understand but you nailed it, with style. Thank you
I remember this song well. It was a favorite in Vietnam where I was when it came out. The Hollies were a fantastic band and one of my favorites at the time.
Specially for ignorant people like you. This is a copy of the 1969 "green river" from john forgerty. WORTHS STRASH!!!
Thanks for your service!
sorry I shouldn't be so rude!
Yes. I finished my second deployment when this was popular. For years I didn't understand the lyrics. Still loved it.

So right
Whenever I'm in a bad mood I listen to this song and look at this beautiful 5" 9" beautiful tall woman.
what does 5" 9" mean?__i'm Italian,sorry---------!!!!_____
5 feet + 9 inches, American way of measuring height.
It would be ~176cm in the metric system.
The best intro ever . I don't know anyone who doesn't like this song. It sounds like it's from 1962. Brilliant.
It kind of is you know not far off! Crazy to think!
I been listening to this song most of my life and this is the first time I actually paid attention to the lyrics! This would make a GREAT Robert Mitchum movie c.1948!
I remember when this was on the jukebox when I was about 11 years old! Great song. Always turn it up when I hear it start playing!
Specially for ignorant people like you. This is a copy of the 1969 "green river" from john forgerty. WORTHS STRASH!!!
sorry I shouldn't be so rude!

The most American sounding song ever recorded by a British group. Genius and a beautiful work of art (the song AND the girl :>)!
This is one of those songs that makes you feel cool.
Specially for ignorant people like you. This is a copy of the 1969 "green river" from john forgerty. WORTHS TRASH!!!
