Ahh yes, watch over every chick that hatches on our farm for every minute of the day because an adult bird is unable to take care of their young as nature intended. Or better yet, he died from some natural cause. But sure, blame me.

I wouldn't pretend to know what went wrong with the first emu Bert hatched. But I noticed, the second one hatched mush faster. Maybe, the first one just wasn't meant to be. 😢
My thoughts exactly. I never hatch anything bigger than goose, but this chick took it time and the legs where not looking to good, I know some birds can look like this at being with legs ( button quails give me always hart attack in this department) but if something was wrong Bert might rejected, like it would happen in wild. I did grow up on farm and witnessed something like rejection off spring because was weak or sick off and not only in birds , just part of nature. Is sad but sometimes nothing you can do , you can’t be there 24/7 , this way rest off your animal would suffer and other things might go wrong on farm.
This is just life. Yall do yalls best and it's better than most. So proud of yall. At least you got a couple babies. Better than none like years in the past!
Without knowing the exact cause of the death, no one is to blame. Based on years of raising poultry (I’m retired now), I believe the hatchling emu was what breeders call a straggler or weakling. They are not uncommon. It took too long for it to get out of the egg, its feet were clenched (you noticed that), and its balance was unstable (flopped around). Compare it to the other hatchling and the difference is readily seen. Chances are that no matter what was done, it would not have survived and its death could not have been prevented. Stop the misplaced blame and concentrate on the successes.
What a success at the end though, through tears success happens... Sometimes you cant be there for your animals 24/7. You have to tkae a break, you habe to look after you and the kids needs .. dont beat yourself up as much as you have. Its amazing bert hatched 2 so far this season... Hopefully he will get more next season ❤️
No one should ever blame you guys. You all farm and parent like the old days. Back to basics, morals, responsibilities, and consequences. I think you are awesome, and they way you treat your animals show too. Great job.
It is so apparent in all your videos how much you care for your animals. Don't listen to people who are obviously ignorant. Death is a part of life, especially on a farm. Still very sad and disappointing, but do not blame yourself. Love you content, even the hard to watch moments. It is refreshing to see such honesty.
Jake, Becky, and Family, No one should blame you for this emu not surviving. You did absolutely the right thing. Ernie needed to hatch, and take care of the emu. In nature these things happen. I have said a prayer that Ernie continues to take care of this emu, and it survives. Hang in there! Hugs to Y'all.
We have watched your channel as a family for years. The ups and the downs have helped us in training our own kids on the beauty of life and the difficulty of death. Not your fault at all! Keep up the great work! Great work guys!
Is not your fault, that’s part of nature. You are doing a good job and I bet nobody could do what you done so far. You have a family to take care of plus you take care of all those animals. You are my hero.
This made me shed a tear for all the little human babies that have been taken to a better place, no one would ever dare tell the parent it was their fault, when they were doing all in their power to change the outcome. This is just the reality of nature and it’s sad others don’t recognize this. Shows the world has so much growth to do
I am sorry you lost the chick. People often judge us thinking they could have done it better. I am also happy for your successes. You have such a heart for animals. Don't let the hecklers get to you.
I’m sorry this ended up the way it did. Yes it’s a learning experience but don’t blame yourself, any hatch doesn’t always work out. Thank you for sharing.
It's a double edged sword. If you know you have done everything possible for these eggs to hatch successfully and the hatchlings to survive, then there's no one to blame. Even in the wild, nature will take its course and only the strongest will survive. I know it's heartbreaking to lose them after all the work you put into this. Just know that you did all that you could.
If the goal is to have live emu chicks then yes it's your fault. If you are really just showing 'content' well.. you had success.
Not Your fault !!!!! Mother Nature is in charge of these things.
I’m so sorry for your loss😢
No one should ever blame you guys. You all farm and parent like the old days. Back to basics, morals, responsibilities, and consequences. I think you are awesome, and they way you treat your animals show too. Great job.
I’m so jealous that you get to experience such beautiful things ❤❤❤
Love it ❤❤ thanks for posting great content
You did fantastic taking care of all your emus.
Love you guys
It is so apparent in all your videos how much you care for your animals. Don't listen to people who are obviously ignorant. Death is a part of life, especially on a farm. Still very sad and disappointing, but do not blame yourself. Love you content, even the hard to watch moments. It is refreshing to see such honesty.
So exciting ❤
CONGRATULATIONS BURT👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
Jake, Becky, and Family,
No one should blame you for this emu not surviving.
Yay Bert
Is not your fault, that’s part of nature. You are doing a good job and I bet nobody could do what you done so far. You have a family to take care of plus you take care of all those animals. You are my hero.
It's not your fault.❤
This made me shed a tear for all the little human babies that have been taken to a better place, no one would ever dare tell the parent it was their fault, when they were doing all in their power to change the outcome. This is just the reality of nature and it’s sad others don’t recognize this. Shows the world has so much growth to do
And now happy tears for that little baby at the end!!! Wow 🥹🥹
I am sorry you lost the chick. People often judge us thinking they could have done it better. I am also happy for your successes. You have such a heart for animals. Don't let the hecklers get to you.
Those who think they could have done it better are those who have zero farm experience, therefore no need to take their opinion on board xx ❤
That’s so hard! Thank you for sharing the joys and hard moments.
It’s not ur fault it’s nature and that that ❤❤❤ love to you all xx
