To everyone who is confused here’s what this is about: it’s loosely based off the play Waiting for Godot. The characters in Waiting for Godot wait for this mysterious person named “Godot” to save them from their everyday life. However, Godot never comes. Kay has hallucinations of his ex-lover and perhaps her boyfriend. She was probably cheating on him with Dacre. Kay is haunted by his cheating ex and they follow him everywhere. Kay goes to this “Godot clinic” in hopes of finding a cure or an answer to his hallucinations. Instead of waiting for “Godot” or someone to help him, he takes matters into his own hands by getting rid (or killing his ex and her lover) of his demons. There are numerous references to Waiting For Godot and Samuel Beckett’s work throughout this whole video, such as the set with the rock, bench and tree. Kay rolling the rock up the hill is a metaphor for how the human spirit and self-motivation is more powerful than having a false hope in a higher power. The lady at the end of the play saying “absurd” is a reference to the theatre of the absurd, which is what most of Samuel Beckett’s plays were. The theatre of the absurd dealt with our human nature and natural instincts to find meaning and interpretations to life, when in actually, there is no meaning whatsoever. At the end of the video there is a women who says the word “absurd.” Therefore, this whole video could really have no meaning other than entertainment value.
I took it as either they were his book characters that had become hallucinations or he had decided to write about his hallucinations, and the stronger he held onto his story the more they tortured him and finally he was able to let the idea go so they went with it.
Came for Darce but tbh, this short was pretty good, you can tell they really had fun making this--- especially Darce and the blonde woman, which is always a good type of vibe to see and feel in film..
