Nice old wheel horse. I don't think the center shaft has a spacer. Mine doesn't anyway. Did you seat the spindle to the correct depth when you pressed it in?
Did you ever find out what was making the deck so loud? I just inherited my dads old C-81 Wheel horse, whenever I engage the deck I swear the whole neighborhood can hear it lol I’m going to be replacing the spindle bearings but I’m wondering if it’s something else too. Thanks in advance, going to follow your restoration videos to make mine look new again!
It’s probably the deck bearings because these got rained on literally a day after I got them on (can’t remember why I let that happen). New bearings would probably fix mine, but I just don’t want to spend money on more bearings again. There’s really no other part to go bad on the deck, it’s a pretty simple thing. Try replacing your deck bearings and DON’T let rain anywhere near the bearings lol! Good luck and welcome!
