this is the song that made me love day6 :)) glad you guys reacted to it! if you have any time, plz react to 'you were beautiful' by day6 because that song and mv connects with this one! and also about ft island, actually there were many great korean rock bands before ft island; the rock-ROCK band. ft island was the first successful 'IDOL rock band' which is little different from just rock band; and ft island gave a chance to other idol rock bands to succeed.But i personally think day6 wasn't really strongly influenced by ft island..i guess since they weren't trying to be rock band when they first gathered, and because they learned instruments while they were training (except jay and dowoon), they got more influence from JYP style and their own music taste maybe... anyways great reactions! :)) always thumbs up!
Actually all the members could already play instruments before they were trainees except for the leader, Sungjin. He was the only member who didn't play any instrument before joining the company and had to learn first the percussions then the guitar as a trainee. In terms of influences, Day6 has said several times that while they each have different tastes in music, they all like and are kinda influenced by mainly British pop, rock and modern rock 😊
Iris Lee Actually Jae knew how to play acoustic guitar before but I am not sure if he learn't electric after he joined JYP. Wonpil knew how to play piano before. Youngk before joining JYP learn't Violin for 4 years, acoustic guitar and I think he also learn't basics of playing one of the orchestral instrument. But he learn't how to play the bass after joining JYP just for the band, he didn't like it initially but he finally fell in love with the bass.

I think you guys would really enjoy day6’s Japanese releases, like ‘if’, ‘stop the rain’ or breaking down’, they go so hard on them, they’re much more of a j-rock vibe over the k-pop/vibe they usually have, they’re just great to listen to!
About which Western band they sound similar I can't say because they have tried so many styles, they don't have a fixed style. A korean music critic once said he felt them similar to the band Air Supply. But I can't really feel that. Forgot to say before but Nice reaction.
