If it wasn't 4 Salvatore Bono we wouldn't still be entertained by Cher ! No doubt a match made in heaven. Cher now in her 70's as Sonny wrote in his song we still hear on many stations "The Beat Goes On" 🇮🇹
My favorite variety show of the 70's!! Seen Cher and I visit Sonny's grave all the time. Oh, how the years pass and I long for the simple times like this...
This was the best comedic couple of the 70's. The love I felt for them was like Lucy & Desi in the 50s! RIP Sonny. I hope to see you in the afterlife. And God Bless u Cher
Say what you want about Sonny, but he was an excellent song writer, and business man. His comedy timing, and interaction with Cher, is what made the opening of their show, the best part, week in, and week out. He allowed himself to play the fool, and took a lot of uncalled for abuse because of it. I watched it every week. RIP Sonny.
Cher❤️ed to "play games with Sonny and his follow up and Cher's retorts just great❗her eye roll priceless as always great singers but monologue always amazing
Hilarious! Those two had great chemistry on stage. We used to watch this show every week when I was a kid. I am glad to see these videos because I was pretty young and don't remember specific skits very much...I just remember watching the show with my mom who actually looked a lot like Cher at the time.
These two people are so honest and loved that they got to say a lot about everything important and this song is unfortunately still true, the only healthy world we see is on the television and internet but in real life it’s still this song
Surprisingly engaging show and hosts, both of these folks look like they should be up there entertaining us. I gather CBS was none too pleased when they dropped out of the show because they got divorced.
Hey people............does anyone else notice this babes' beautiful HAIR. That is among her other gorgeous attributes. For the love of Cher. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍❤️🇦🇺
A lot of this material was from their club acts of the last few yrs prior to this show they had to perform to survive once the hits of the late 60’s ended.
I don't care what people say or criticize me for saying. I still think Sonny and Cher were a match that only happened once. I still enjoy the old shows.
Truth be told...Cher was originally to shy to sing by herself.....he never really wanted to sing...or thought he was much of a singer...which..he wasnt...sonny was the original brains...behind thier success...Chers...unbeatable talent kept it going
Thought this was Alan Parsons Project song but it said 1971.Alan's different song with the same name came out in 1981.The Spinners had a song with this name in 1975
Cher was a classy lady when she was with Sonny. She went from classy to sleazy afterwards and especially in the eighties. I only liked Cher when she was with Sonny in this show...
I just can't imagine it, what was wrong with him? Why was he cheating?! He had some insecurities I guess. What a shame. This was great TV. Wish it had lasted longer.
He became a Republican but was a Democrat throughout the 1960's. He was at the 1968 Democratic Convention on platform for Robert Kennedy. After Kennedy's killing, Sonny was for Humphrey.
At age 15, in 1971, I wasn’t old enough to understand why, but I didn’t like the demeaning way the dialogue went at the beginning of each episode. Sonny was the target of disdain all wrapped in comedy. Ah well, calling the love of your life and the father of your child and the primary reason you are rich, popular and have a TV show a “dummy” every week wasn’t “normal” to me. I never saw my mom do that to my dad , nor dad do it to mom, especially in front of friends, and my friends didn’t do that to me at school and it was just too much. Toxic is what I’d call it now. I complained at that young age out loud that it wasn’t right, it didn’t have a good “ vibe. “Something about it isn’t right,” is probably what I said because “the put down “vibe” continued each week, unlike in a “normal marriage where the woman or man is not supposed to embarrass the love of each others life in public. I didn’t say “vibe” until later but that’s what I meant. My parents had a lot of card parties on Saturday nights, with many many friends, and talk like that was NEVER spoken. You could feel uneasy watching it even now. Then low and behold they divorced….it wasn’t hard to imagine why, disdain over time can become reality if the pressures and sentiments become unbalanced. Love conquers all if love is what you value. Love is selfless not harming. Seems as though in my mind love of self became Cher’s way…and probably Sonny’s too. That divorce too, was a big thing in our family, nobody was divorced in either side of the extended family. So when that happened, with Chastity involved, that was very discombobulating to my mind. Something new. Parents didn’t do that..abandon their child. I probably said that this way, but what will chastity do? Apparently people didn’t stay together and a raft of comedy shows with a single parent began to flood the networks each new season afterwards.
LOL That is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen posted on YT--and I've seen plenty!! No offense, but honestly... Why would anyone even think that? You think Cher's a ventriloquist?
Sonny wouldn't have had to sing at all if it wasn't for Cher's early fear of singing in public. Cher needed Sonny on stage with her in the very beginning. If you look at the early 60s stuff, she doesn't have her eyes off him. She said looking at Sonny helped to get rid of the stage fright. Once they broke up for good professionally in the late 70s, Sonny's show biz career was more or less over, although he did appear in Airplane II and Hairspray. He also guest starred in shows playing a government official of some kid.
This was one of their first shows on Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. They had such chemistry and love.
One of the funniest comedy exchanges I've seen by any double act. At their best, S and C were brilliant, really brilliant comics.
If it wasn't 4 Salvatore Bono we wouldn't still be entertained by Cher ! No doubt a match made in heaven. Cher now in her 70's as Sonny wrote in his song we still hear on many stations "The Beat Goes On" 🇮🇹
I love this one

Let's just say he fooled us all. He was pretty smart guy
Yes indeed ! I LOVED this now classic show as a kid in the BEST of times that were the 1970's !! ( I was 8 on this night )
It was always clear he was in on the joke and secure enough in himself to allow her to get the laughs. That's love and also show biz.
I ❤️ Cher's expressions when Sonny is singing. Priceless, the monologues were priceless. As good as the opening song❗❗❤️
He was so good. Great team.
I’ve been off F.B. for awhile but tonight I opened with this. No matter what this Lady is truly GORGEOUS.
💖💘💕👠👣👠💕💘💖🌹🇦🇺

They were the best comedy team! Love when Sonny messes up "Do you know how stupid you think I am?" LOL
Awesome song and performance
Love them!
I remember watching them. She was and is great.

DAMN THAT WAS A GOOD LAUGH🤣
Surprisingly engaging show and hosts, both of these folks look like they should be up there entertaining us. I gather CBS was none too pleased when they dropped out of the show because they got divorced.
sonny was what Ringo was to the Beatles..........would not have happened without him
Cher was only 25 in this clip. Yet she was so confident and witty.
So beautiful
LOVE MY SONNY&CHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
A GREAT show 😊
Hey people............does anyone else notice this babes' beautiful HAIR. That is among her other gorgeous attributes. For the love of Cher. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍❤️🇦🇺

They had a comedy album. So funny 🤣
One of my favorite oldie songs but I love the version by Conway!
A lot of this material was from their club acts of the last few yrs prior to this show they had to perform to survive once the hits of the late 60’s ended.
Amazing
TVLAND please run Sonny and Cher again.
I don't care what people say or criticize me for saying. I still think Sonny and Cher were a match that only happened once. I still enjoy the old shows.
Loved sonny
Truth be told...Cher was originally to shy to sing by herself.....he never really wanted to sing...or thought he was much of a singer...which..he wasnt...sonny was the original brains...behind thier success...Chers...unbeatable talent kept it going
She is an angel believe me
SOnny alway mess up but it's funny and I LOVE CHER,
That was ❤️
Yeah. I watched it every week.
It was sad when he had his accident. Although some say it wasn't an accident. He was very saavy politically.
😍 I so want one of those round sonny and cher ,I think they are glass lights?? Wonder what happened to those????
man those two were so cute
yes i know, i was just saying it as in: wow i'm jealous of her shiny hair! - kind of a rhetorical statement.
Sonny's blowing his line😳
Admit it - what male in his teens-20's-30's back in the day wouldn't have hit that like a screen door in a hurricane? She was major hot . . .
❤❤❤🌷
Сонни изменил форму носа очень зря, родной нос ему очень шел, с изменением носа он сам очень изменился и как то не в лучшую сторону.
SONNY HAD A NOSE JOB ?
hahaha well i was born 92 but damn this shit is funny
So weird he died skiing 🙏
Thought this was Alan Parsons Project song but it said 1971.Alan's different song with the same name came out in 1981.The Spinners had a song with this name in 1975
+MrJacMac1986 This was written and recorded by Joe South.
It's called studio lights
Very exotic lady, from every angle...
You sure that isn't Chad Michaels
Cher was a classy lady when she was with Sonny. She went from classy to sleazy afterwards and especially in the eighties. I only liked Cher when she was with Sonny in this show...
Peu ton traduire en francais
If it were not for Sonny Cher would have wound up as a working girl, if you know what I mean.
Why sonny did you have to cheat on that beautiful woman, I'll never understand
I thought Sonny was a conservative republican. Why did he mess around with other women when he was with Cher?
Who cares about that maybe she did as well she went with enough guys
I just can't imagine it, what was wrong with him? Why was he cheating?! He had some insecurities I guess. What a shame. This was great TV. Wish it had lasted longer.
I don't believe everything I read
He became a Republican but was a Democrat throughout the 1960's. He was at the 1968 Democratic Convention on platform for Robert Kennedy. After Kennedy's killing, Sonny was for Humphrey.
I mean after theirs divorce she then married Greg Allman that same year so we can’t really blame who really did what to whom

Carol Burnett said that "slam humor" will bring the nation down... It brought S & C down, and this makes me cringe.
I actually couldn't stand hearing Sonny try to sing. He drove me nuts as a kid with his flat tones and whiney voice. Cher was always awesome though.
He was funny that's the point they were better together
I don't understand why they think its funny when insults are going every where
Lighten up it's a joke it wasn't like today thank God for that
It was part of a program to downgrade men and promote the 'independent' woman. The 'divorce' following was part of the same program.
there were rumors that Sunny had no talent for singing and that Cher had sang his parts too
LOL That is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen posted on YT--and I've seen plenty!! No offense, but honestly... Why would anyone even think that? You think Cher's a ventriloquist?
Idiotic remark. Please don't have kids.

" Please don't have kids." Hahahahahahaha!!
