Oh my gosh! I learned so much. I could never get the gunk out of my rotary as I did not know the top piece could be taken off. Also learned I need to replace the screw as I have cut wrong for so long that it has a groove in it. I have 4 of these as I kept replacing them due to problems with cutting (and due to my arthritis this is so much easier to use than others) and one the spring popped off and I couldn't replace it. I should have checked out you tube sooner! WOW

So glad I found this video. I was at the point of replacing my blade when I found this, After a closer look I found the cutter and it was dirty. After second viewing, I realized the replacement blade was a notched blade. If I hadn't viewed this video I wouldn't have known. So thank you for this information!!!!

I just got one from Amazon for my birthday and I want to know if it is a 3rd gen cutter. Thanks. I'll know how to clean mine when it arrives. Looking forward to it.

Happy birthday! The latest version has a black strip along the base of the blade when it's closed. Hope you enjoy using it!

Oh wow; I can't believe that! I am so sorry~ I worked for Martelli at the time; most everyone watching my videos those days had the cutter & knew Martelli & me from the trade shows. Things have certainly changed since then~ I had to stop working for them to focus on family & my Winner Designs business. The cutter is the Ergo Cutter from Martelli Notions. You can find it here: www.martellinotions.com/45mm-right-ergo-cutter.html

How do I keep the spring from popping out?

When removing the blade, keep the guard open. If you move the guard to the closed position without a blade in there, it will go flying!

I'll just buy a new cutter. Customers having problems don't need to be mimicked and ridiculed. I do love the product.
