The self contemplation that occurs after watching these interviews is so unbelievable... This channel is such an amazing institution, top tier in every category... It's such an honour and a blessing to see Bab' Don Mlangeni and listening to him sharing his story. To see him cry really broke my heart... I love his work. He has been outstanding in every character on screen, but I think " Hlala kwabafileyo" really showed us his incredible talent. So grateful for this interview.
The importance of a father to a child. Even at 64 he still suffers the scares of not having that presence. Apart from that, Mr. Don is by far one of the best actors SA has to offer. BIG UP!
I was also touched. Our parents have hurt us in deep ways but the saddest part about the whole thing is that they are in denial and we are expected to give them what they failed to give us because they are ageing. 😢😢😢
Watching such interviews makes you connect with old people you grew up seeing on TV everyday. It makes you feel like you are breathing the same air with them. Mr Mashabela is mastering this podcasting thing. You can watch hia 3 hour episode and it feels like 20 minutes.
This has to be my number 1 Podcast, I mean David interview skills are top. He allows the guest to relax and be comfortable and speak without interrupting. Everything is done step by step and with context. I salute you bra Dave
I couldn't have said it any better Nhlanhla! David applies naturality throughout his interviews....hence we find it easy to connect, for he first allows his guests ease
@@sibusisodlamini814 You are right Sbu, there was a time Bro Don wanted to say something about his 1st Wife and was interrupted that was lost in the conversation. We can’t be too hard on him, he’ll improve with time as he goes back to reflect…
Totally agree 💯 with Ntate Mlangeni Nawa, we're experiencing a moral decay and television is at the centre of it with pushing that rot...I was debating with a friend that "Adulting" on Netflix is nonsense and nothing to build a young mind. It's really sad, they really are imposing all this nonsense on us
The character of Hlala kwabafileyo is one that is most parts i will always remember him by..................he excelled in that role🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I really got entertained when Bra Don was mimicking uTatu Gibson Kente, accurate. My dad would make us shut up everytime Bra Gib was on screen as a kid. That voice is unmistakable. I enjoyed getting to see 'ubuntu' baka Mr Mlangeni Nawa. Vulnerability. Enkosi Mr.
Yhoooo his last words😢😢….thats my take on these shows as well, the disrespect , disgrace and shame we consume in these shows as black people is beyond sad. I did an auto-ethnography research last year and uzalo was my reference. I had to interview some of the cast and directors and the results were unbelievable. Shows like uZalo aren’t the most watched but they are easily accessible. No one would watch uZalo if they have access to Netflix, Disney or Prime-video. Whats more sad is that SABC doesn’t easily accept proposals from unknown people they prefer the same people who creates garbage for viewers. Thank you for bringing utata wesizwe to your studios. We love and appreciate his contribution to this industry. By “we” I mean me and my family and those who agree with me🤭.
I don't think I can ever watch King David and not be grateful for my life and circumstances, you keep raising the bar 🎉🎉 thank you Bab' Don for gracing us with your presence ❤
Gibson Mthuthuzeli Kente, what a legend, its good to witness the huge impact he played in the theatre industry by producing renowned artists like Bra Don Mlangeni Nawa. I think as Black South Africans we need to go back to the basics when we were the POETs “Purveyors of excellent talents”.
Thank you so much for this interview, I wish Mam Daphne Hlomuka, Henry Cele, Menzi Ngubane and Bab'Joe Mafela and others were alive so we can hear their journeys. Please do not forget to invite the legendary Magic Hlatshwayo and Nomsa Xaba.
Thank you and keep honouring our legends, they made our hard lives bearable because you had something to run home to at 8:30, when electricity was there. Great job guys, cheers
“The revolution will never be televised.” Thank you Bra Don for putting your head on the chopping block…these are the kinds of shows that we need more as South Africans to remind us where we have been and where need to head. ❤
You can see Bra Dave did his research and homework, but his ability to connect and be natural while keeping the conversation natural is amazing! Amazing podcast breathtaking content!
This man is a legend!! I recently watched Hlala Kwabafileyo and the way this guy embodied his role there gives me goosebumps. I found myself shedding a tear, when everyone didn't believe that he was actually Zakhe Mhlongo because he made it feel like he's not even acting. Big up to you Mr Mlangeni. You are very talented and what I like is you are able to play different roles and nail each character.
He is a legend, thank you king David for honoring this legends and giving them their flowers while they are still alive, I so wish you can interview ntate Mbongeni Ngema one day.
David you are such a humane individual my brother! The reason I find it easy to follow your broadcasting it's a combination of sincerity, honesty, dignity....I like how you handle moments when your guest breaks down due to emotions. What you do may seem effortless at a distance, however it takes real mental composure for you to deliver this beauty.
I love interviews with ppl who have been in the industry for a long time, they tell it as it is cos they are not afraid that they will step on ppls toes and not get work in the future.
What a gem of an interview, I was born in the late 80s I can see the ship sinking right before my eyes, television is garbage. The only thing I consume from TV is sports and then podcasts on the internet. Thanks bra David

Very true and I'm enjoying his podcasts so much and he has introduced me to podcasts
True!
I haven't cried as much as I cried today through this interview.

He did one interview lately but not with king David
When he broke down.. that kinda touched me… most men have been through a lot 😢.. and unfortunately some they choose to conceal their emotions..
Please share the time stamp, I fell asleep and then just continued with the hope that I would come across that😢
