Katoucha Niane, was a very in demand catwalk model. Yves St. Laurent had her as his muse, as did LaCroix,Mugler, Alaia. She left modeling to become a fashion designer, and had some acclaim, but unfortunately she drowned falling off the house boat she lived in on the river Siene. A religion which she was born into and experienced first hand of fgm when she was little. The followers of "religion of peace" in her adopted country (France) hated her with passion for dare to speak up so openly against their fked up religion so they targeted her. She had been getting a lot of death threats for years before she died but she didn't give up. She knew she was fighting for the good cause. Her biggest mistake was she didn't take their threats seriously. They got her eventually. Thank you and RIP Katoucha. 😔

I remember the incredible Yves Saint Laurent shows in the 1980's and 1990's. Yves Saint Laurent had many top African Runaway Models. Khadija ( Kenyan Born), Katoucha Niane and Amalia Vairelle ( Somalia Born) were some in his stable of exquisite models. Amalia Vairelle had a special flair. She would move so artistic and with a graceful spirit. Her smoked eyes at the big Laurent Shows always written about in the Parisian Fashion Magazines.
Katoucha incarnated the true African woman : beautiful, charismatic, strong, classy, powerful, proud, effortlessly classy. Her eyes were mesmerized. Her body was so slender yet strong. She walked down the runway like a feline… one word : Fierce ! RIP Black STAR 💫
All the great haute couture models of the day! Katoucha, Aria, Amalia, Anne Fiona, Monica…they were lighter than air, levitated effortlessly down the catwalk. And this is when a girl HAD TO WORK IT. They had multiple exits in every show. Sometimes 10, 15 looks to present. None of this 1 girl one outfit BS. Back in the day… it was different, and delightfully so, as you could see the chameleon each and every one of them were. Good times! Good times!
It's very hard to find footage of Janice Dickinson's runway work. I don't think she did that much runway in the 80's. I know she walked for Azzedine Alaia, Valentino, Calvin Klein and Perry Ellis. in her heyday.
@@gx9954 The only designer Janice walked for in the 80's that I've seen on RUclips is Azzedine Alaia(86, 88, 89). Sadly, you can't see her in the 89 show and you only see walk out with the show's other models in the 86 show.
