    Lombardy used to ride his new players asses until they had enough and stood up to him. He knew at that point that they were good to go.

      @@PapaEli-pz8ff That happened with Bart Starr but some guys like Ray Nitschke however would fall apart emotionally if you chewed them out at all so he had to be real gentle and positive. Sunny Jurgensen is one he challenged to be serious.

    When I played in high school if we would fight the coach would make the 2 guys walk around the field holding hands, you never fought again.

      From a fundamental standpoint definitely but from a characteristic standpoint and all that the players are too soft
