never EVER step into an elevator with a dog like this. lucky this lovely young man was there to rescue the pooch
If its owner released the leash, and the leash isn't caught by the elevator's inside door, then the dog won't be strangled.
Also, there's no need to carry the dog in/out. It's simple to not to be separated from your dog. Just stand in the open doorway to trigger the sensor to keep the door open. When your dog is completely inside, get in the elevator. Use the same idea when exiting the elevator.
The dad flying the plane was so calm! His wife did an amazing job too. The relief on their faces 😮 The kids had no idea.

Clearly you aren't familiar with the current on lake Michigan. Between the wind and the current in this lake its absolutely possible for this to happen in a second. I have never allowed my kids on floaty things in the lake only in pools for this very reason. Do I think its irresponsible yes but I don't believe it was don't purposely.

What an irresponsible lady!
Dog owner didn't check to make sure dog was inside, and while panicking held onto leash to make sure it would suffocate or decapitate, had she thought fast like the gentleman did, it was a relatively thin leash and she could've let go in the hopes it would reduce tension or slip through. Good dude.
Most of the time there is a stop button in the elevator so if she had pressed it it would have stopped

I saw a woman propose to a man...
Kudos to that paddle boarder for noticing something wrong and going to help (thankfully a boat also came to the rescue). Thought I had a similar incident last summer when three young kids (all around 10) were learning how to control a sailboat - one kid was clearly the captain, one was on the sails, the other on the rudder. Kid on the sail over-corrected in the strong wind and from a distance I was like "omg they're going down" - so I hauled ass on my kayak in case I needed to rescue them. Thankfully their instructor was in a motorized boat not far away and came to assist - but I had no idea and these kids were in the middle of the lake with no one around! The kids SOMEHOW managed to right the boat but the vessel was practically on its starboard side. To their credit none of them panicked and they worked together to get their boat upright - no doubt a credit to their training. But I seriously thought these kids were capsizing. So scary.
When you're sailing, the boat tipping on its side like you described is capsizing and is not that hard to right if you know how, if the boat tips all the way over so that the mast is pointing straight down it is called turtling and a lot harder to right but its a good thing their instructor way paying attention because when I was 10 I wasn't heavy enough to right the boat myself.

the thing with the dog happened to me once too!! luckily my dog was very petite and wriggled herself out of the harness. even though she was already stuck at the top the door and fell about two meters she was unharmed.

I went to some state with a cliff, forgot which one, and there was a stupid girl probably 20 or something standing around over the edge and almost tripped. The worst part was even after she slipped she STILL wanted that photo. I saw the photo on Instagram soon after
