The talk down you do with relaxing muscles from the head down and the healing light before a story has helped me so much with what I have been dealing with for the past couple years. When I found your stories, they helped me shut down my mind.
RUclips are aholes doing that and then you having to take the abusive comments, just want you to know how much your stories and self hypnosis help videos help me at this stage I'm so used to hearing your voice at bedtime that if I didn't I wouldn't be able to sleep so many thanks Dan 👌
What annoys me is that in my settings the ads are off, so I can't do anything about it. They aren't turning them on in my settings, but running them without me being able to do anything about it. I have complained repeatedly to them for over a year with no luck. They see it as a positive that we (creators) get more revenue, and they (RUclips) also make more money if more ads are shown. I don't see the point in them giving us the choice of where to place ads in our videos if when we don't put them where RUclips wants us to put them, they put them in any way... I don't mind the abusive comments. I can imagine how annoyed someone who struggles to sleep would be if they have listened to 15 minutes of one of my videos, fallen asleep and then are jolted awake by an ad for the latest Star Wars film or something... It is the fact that it impacts on my reputation with people thinking that I am doing this that is the annoying thing. I was so happy when The Honest Guys made a video about having exactly the same issue because I thought that at least if more of us are pointing this out people will start realising it isn't us being greedy doing this, it is something RUclips are doing even when we select for it not to be done... That is part of the reason why I've been making my stories available in far more places like apps, Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play/Google Music, Amazon Music, my Sleep Stories Podcast etc...
I had an ad come on last night in the middle of one of your long sleep stories. I starteled me right out of my sleep. This didnt happen to me before on one of your 8 hour or longer stories.
That is frustrating. I wish RUclips wouldn't do it. I am hearing more frequently again about RUclips doing this and also getting comments on my videos from other similar creators asking me if I know how to stop RUclips doing this because it is happening more to them too and is very frustrating. Obviously, annoyingly I don't have an answer. I've been trying to address it since 2018, and initially in December 2019, RUclips finally publicly admitted they were doing this with videos which had the ads turned off (and creators don't get any of the revenue when this happens, because, from RUclips's perspective 'we have the ads turned off' so the ads don't count towards our revenue, which means the audience is annoyed with us creators, we are annoyed with RUclips and RUclips gets paid!), as an experiment to test what would happen with views if the ads were turned on in videos which have them turned off. They concluded that it makes more money and so announced they were turning mid-roll ads on in ALL eligible RUclips videos. So when they did this in August 2020 I had to go through turning them all off again on every single one of my videos. But since then, RUclips has continued to show ads in the videos from time to time, as if they are still testing. I hoped that once the test was done and they turned on the ads and I turned them back off again, that would be the end of it. November 2023, RUclips introduced a new ad change, they made it compulsory that ads will show at the beginning and end of every video (which is why my videos are 8 hours long, so that end ad doesn't play until the morning). Jason Stephenson set up a petition to try to address this, we all rallied our audiences behind this, but RUclips went ahead with this anyway and since then reports of mid-roll ads have been increasing again, so I - cynically - think RUclips are testing the same as they were before, but whereas they went from creators being able to choose to have ads on or off, and choose what ad types (like skippable, or unskippable or both etc), then to not choosing what ad types, but selecting pre-roll, mid-roll or post-roll, so I could tick for pre-roll ads (ads showing before the videos) and leave the other two off, to now pre and post ads are just on, and that is it, I think they are testing for the idea of 'ads are just on'. I think they want all eligible videos to have all ad positions on, so that there will be ads before, during and after every video, with creators having no control over whether there will be ads, they will just give us control over where the ads during the video will be, but will have it compulsory that there must be ads. So, if RUclips autoplaced ads are in the wrong places, because they are autoplaced by AI, then they will let the creator choose the location. I expect in the next year or so for this to be a think, given the direction of RUclips ads and the fact that they see this niche as barely a drop in the ocean compared to all the videos on RUclips, so not enough to give different rules to. If this happens, the only solution I can think of is to place a single mid-roll ad in the first second of the video, so you get the pre-roll ad (or ads!), then as soon as the video starts it goes to the mid-roll ad placed by me. But because I have placed a mid-roll ad, hopefully it means RUclips doesn't place more, so once you skip that ad, the rest of the video is ad-free. If they are testing to make this change, this is the least disruptive option I see for the audience. But RUclips does make it difficult to do this on RUclips and unfortunately RUclips viewers stick on RUclips and don't follow me to my own app, or Insight Timer or Patreon or Spotify or other streaming services, or anywhere else, and the only way around the ads it to subscribe to RUclips Premium.
I am live at 10pm. I have the video on my channel and shared it on the community tab so that people could set a reminder on the video, and I have my live streams listed as events on Facebook for those who prefer a reminder there...

@DanJonesHypnosis I agree, I don't mind one at the very beginning but not in the middle. Some of us need to have you on all night in order to sleep.
Got home too late for this 😔😔
