    It seems that you pronounce the J in two ways. The first time at 2:30 as the simple sound, the way you explain it, but the second time, at 2:42 you add a d sound in front of it, so it sounds like the J in the English word 'judge'.
    I have heard it that way by several speakers, also '(d)jove'.

    the funny thing about being a native speaker of english with B and V sound is that, while there is no distinction, my brain kinda makes one itself and sometimes i can hear a distinct v sound. brains truly are interesting things lol.

    Okay so i'm starting to fall in love with catalán but the not-so-funny part seems to be the writing; I mean I understand the written form quite well but I couldn't come up with the spelling myself, if that makes sense. I guess it's only a matter of practice but so far it's not really intuitive, unlike spanish for example. Do you have any idea how to tackle this issue?

    • @learncatalanfrombarcelona7756
      @learncatalanfrombarcelona7756  6 лет назад +1

      That's right, Catalan is a bit more difficult than Spanish. As it happens in French, you don't always pronounce all the vowels the way they are written. As everything in life, is all about getting used to it! I gave an overview at the How to pronounce the vowels video :)

    • @learncatalanfrombarcelona7756
      @learncatalanfrombarcelona7756  7 лет назад +2

      Hola Florian, molt, molt bona pregunta! Segons el TERMCAT (centre de terminologia català), la "Ç" es classifica com una "C". Personalment, no la vaig incloure al vídeo per simplificar i perquè no afegeix cap so (Ç sona com C + E/I). L'ela geminada (l·l) està considerada un conjunt de lletres (L+L). En aquest últim cas, sí que la fonètica de l'ela geminada és una mica diferent. Però és una molt bona idea! La Ç i la l·l són definitivament importants! :)

    • @bernatbosch

      Bona pregunta. Tenim un alfabet incomplet per la colonització mental que patim a causa de la dominació castellana. Si Catalunya fos independent, segur que el nostre alfabet seria més nostre i no diríem que hi ha 5 vocals, sinó 8, com té realment la fonètica catalana.

      Hola Luis! I didn't include "ela geminada" (l•l) because that is technically not considered a letter per se, but rather a group of letters.

    Super-small nitpick, you pronounce 'is' and [ɪs] rather than [ɪz]. Other than that, I kind final a single error in your English in any video.
