RaventhortheWarrior there were some smart uses of it sure but don't talk as if you need high iq to set the opponent's minions health in an ascending order lmao
I really don't get the logic that defile requires skill to use. It requires mathematical skills, but Hearthstone isn't a game about math, it's about resource management and risk vs reward. Defile rewards smart people, not skillful people. Plus, I think it's generally too strong of a card. A 2 mana card that would undoubtedly see play at 4 mana definitely shows defile is priced one or two mana too low.
It's not about math, it's about strategy, planning ahead of time, leveraging smart trades and minion resource, and planning around pinging certain minions with certain things to set up plays even turns ahead of defile. The card rewards skilled players WAY more than stuff like flamestrike, where it's just "hurrdurr do 4 damage", and if you don't think that's a skill difference, you're just trying to argue semantics. Hearthstone is about resource management and risk vs reward because that's all YOU attribute it to. Defile allowed hearthstone to also be about smart minion trading around a board clear. People have been trading in small minions before turn 7 against mage for years, and purposefully not taking value trades that would put minions below 5 health. This card is a whole different level of planning and counter-planning. Firebat even had a misplay with this recently in a video where he played with purple, missing a full clear. Pro players miss full clears all the time. It's an insane card that is SO much more than 1+1+1+1. It's a card that rewards ACTUAL smart people, instead of just looking at cards and picking which one to play, it forces you to combine the values of your minions on board, in hand, and damage thresholds to turn a 2 mana whirlwind into a 2 mana twisting nether.
@@RaventhortheWarrior It doesn't require much planning though. Cute though as the 'perfect trades to line up the ideal defile clear' plays are, they're not really that common or necessary. Most of the time you just hold back on playing (many) minions, then get insane value whenever your opponent commits multiple minions to the field. Almost all (early) boards have 2&3 toughness by default, and filling in the 1 isn't hard either. No real effort required, just an insanely cheap board wipe for easy profit. While it's nice that the card does offer some skillful plays (defile math for big boards is indeed interesting), that doesn't change that the card is far too efficient at what it does to stay legal.

I'm going to miss Un'Goro. It had so many reliable cards that I imagine it helped a lot of new people get a strong foothold onto the game. And shout-out to Carnivorous Cube, a card so strong that apparently Team 5 can't even hit it with a nerf. They just bounce off and hit every other card near it.
Un'Goro truly was one of if not the best Hearthstone sets ever released. So many different cards to fill so many different roles. Mammoth definitely had some problem cards/decks, but there was a lot of stuff going on that was really balanced without being overpowered, and I'll miss a lot of the cards from that year
Un'goro: A good expansion with balanced cards. _Perfectly balanced as all things should be._ Frozen Throne: An expansion with balanced Commons, Rares and Epics, but with powerful _autoinclude_ legendaries. K&K: The opposite of Frozen Throne: legendaries with decent powercreep (like Un'goro), but with ultra powerful Commons, Rares and Epics. I think they fucked up the game when they released Frozen Throne and even more with K&K. I can't wait to those expansions rotate out the metagame.
I will still miss Frozen Throne, as Death Knights give a very strong flavour to each class that plays them. I'm gonna miss the very fun build a beast mechanic. They are a bit too strong since they're infinite value (jaina, Gul'dan, Rexxar...) but they're very flavourful and I liked that about the frozen throne.
I would argue for Righteous Protector as the most impactful card in Paladin - she just really lets the class build up a wide board in the critical early game and can really bog down big threats for only one mana.

The main reason why year of the raven was filled with cards that had lower power curbs was because of year of the mammoth. They knew if they tried to compete the power creep would have been to much. We needed a bland year to basically reset the curb so that in theory leading into year of the dragon we won't have incredibly op cards. Let's see what they do with a fresh slate.

I like all these videos remembering the year of the mammoth we're about to lose, but as we transition into the year of the dragon and we all hear the phrases of "this will be the time for the year of the raven to shine" since it's been so overshadowed, I want to see lists predicting which year of the raven cards will shape the meta going forward. What cards didn't make the cut so far, but are so defining of the class that they'll carve the path for what we see?
And this is why I love Wild. You get to keep playing all these great cards. Yes the overall power is a bit more even since everything is allowed so it’s nutz. But that’s what I like about it.
I aint gunna lie, i’m gunna miss these sets and cards. Sure we’ve seen many cheesy combos and what not but imo they were still some of the best fun i’ve had in hearthstone. We were introduced many creative mechanics such as the hero cards, quests, Magnetize and the Odd/Even stuff. Even the start of dungeon runs! And who could forget the glorious memes?
Will we get "Trump Reviews *Trump Reviews the Rastakhan Rumble*"? I really miss those kind of videos, it gives a historical look at how cards were discovered to be stronger than appeared or why some cards were considered more powerful than they actually were
Trump got up to fire fly before I thought to make my own predictions about what he'd name so here's my predictions for the rest I guess! #4 Fungalmancer #3 Master Oakheart #2 Keleseth #1 Carnivorous Cube Mage: Explosive Runes Warlock: Defile Priest: Shadow visions (although psychic scream probably is not far behind, my prediction is shadow visions though) Rogue: Vilespine Slayer Druid: Ultimate Infestation Shaman: I dunno lol, shaman didn't get shit that year. Uh.... Kalimos I guess? Hunter: Deathstalker Rexxar. Lots of huge cards so I wouldn't be too surprised if Trump ended up picking something else but I do think this is the most impactful, due to how it changes so many matchups and fits into every deck. Cards like play dead and spellstone are huge but don't affect every deck. Warrior: Blood razor Paladin: Easiest one of my life - righteous protector. Let's see how I do! edit: Okay Genn just popped up. This is cheating! It said from year of the mammoth! That's from year of the raven! I would have put Baku at #1 and Genn at #2 or #3 if I knew they were included, with Cube either ahead of Genn or behind it. Still wrong on the cube apparently but... no fair :(
Okay, time for the update: I didn't really like fungalmancer on there but I thought I had to fill out the top 4 without Genn and Baku. It's still pretty iffy. Corpsetaker being up there is probably more accurate for sure, I didn't consider her. I think the rest were fine, but not that many decks used Oakheart I guess even if he is super powerful when you can, so I guess I can see that. Mage: I strongly considered Jaina but control mage has just not been good for most of the lifetime of this card so even though she is nuts powerful, I went with explosive singe aggro mage actually had periods of being good. Either seems fine. Warlock: Well I initially was considering between defile, Bloodreaver Gul'dan and Voidlord. I dropped Voidlord because he can't be used in even lock. I think defile and Bloodreaver Gul'dan are both good answers for this... maybe Bloodreaver is better though, yeah. I mean even some zoo decks ran it before healzoo became a thing. Priest: Well there you go. I honestly still believe shadow visions is more important because it gives priests the consistency that they need with their reliance on spells. Rogue: Yep. Also considered quest but it's just not great atm. Druid: Yeah it was always between these two cards. I don't play druid that much, I guess I'll just concede to being wrong. Shaman: I did consider volcano but no deck runs it now, whereas Kalimos is kind of the linchpin of elemental decks which are seeing a little bit of play right now. The only other card you could mention is healing rain. I stand by my decision on this one. Hunter: Yep Warrior: Did strongly consider the quest. I think you can go either way on this. Blood razor makes it into every single warrior deck... but there will be other weapons. The quest leaving ends an archetype I suppose. Paladin: I think I might disagree. Tarim is immense for sure but righteous protector, oh man... egg on my face though for my comment about how easy it was. I guess Tarim is more impactful when he hits the board, he just does it so much less often. Righteous protector is in the far more common odd pally rather than even, two of it in every deck, comes out from call to arms etc. But hey.
Do a list of most surprising cards from year of the mammoth! You discuss the cards in trump reviews and trump reviews trump reviews, but what about a final statement on these cards before they rotate out? Some of these cards don’t come into play until over a year after they release.
Frost Lich will be my most impactful ... It is my favorite card and idk what mage will do without it. I am excited Actually Keleseth was from the 2nd expansion.
For me, Un'Goro is the best expansion ever. 1. Rescued the game at a particularly bad time (the community could not wait to renew the meta at the time). 2. Comes with very powerful cards, but not 100% OP or unfair. Exception to Caverns Below, that was nerfed 2 times. 3. The quests cards were a success. 4. The meta at the time of Un'Goro was one of the most diverse and balanced in the history of the game.
If you disinchant them then yes. The only way you get free dust is when a card hits the hall of fame (keeping the card and full dust). You get a "refund" from nerfed cards (full dust disenchant) but other than that the dust is gone.
Trump: "This was a lesson to the Hearthstone team: don't print cards that decide the game on turn 2", "don't print start of game cards", don't print infinite value cards" Next expansion: HS team prints more infinite value cards, more start of game cards and more cards that decide the game on turn 2
The team didn't learn their lesson with Highlander cards, Prince cards, or odd/even cards: Deck restrictions are NOT that limiting especially when you have 4-6 expansions in play. In Raza's prime, priest had PLENTY of options to replace the cards they couldn't duplicate. Keleseth's 2 mana card void was never really that restrictive. Genn and Baku were not that restrictive for the benefit.

Anyone else hear the clip put in when he announced psychic scream?
its the audio effect of the card
7:56 This is what voice acting feels like or even giving out speeches. One slip and you're a laughing stock.
And this is why I love Wild. You get to keep playing all these great cards. Yes the overall power is a bit more even since everything is allowed so it’s nutz. But that’s what I like about it.
No Fungalmancer in the neutral top 10? Or honorable mention. Interesting.
I really miss those kind of videos, it gives a historical look at how cards were discovered to be stronger than appeared or why some cards were considered more powerful than they actually were
Will there be a Video to Trump Reviews Trump Reviews for rastakhan comming?
Trump got up to fire fly before I thought to make my own predictions about what he'd name so here's my predictions for the rest I guess!
#4 Fungalmancer
#3 Master Oakheart
#2 Keleseth
#1 Carnivorous Cube
Mage: Explosive Runes
Warlock: Defile
Priest: Shadow visions (although psychic scream probably is not far behind, my prediction is shadow visions though)
Rogue: Vilespine Slayer
Druid: Ultimate Infestation
Shaman: I dunno lol, shaman didn't get shit that year.
Warrior: Blood razor
Paladin: Easiest one of my life - righteous protector.
Let's see how I do!
edit: Okay Genn just popped up. This is cheating! It said from year of the mammoth! That's from year of the raven! I would have put Baku at #1 and Genn at #2 or #3 if I knew they were included, with Cube either ahead of Genn or behind it. Still wrong on the cube apparently but... no fair :(
Okay, time for the update:
I didn't really like fungalmancer on there but I thought I had to fill out the top 4 without Genn and Baku.
Hunter: Yep
Warrior: Did strongly consider the quest.
Some of these cards don’t come into play until over a year after they release.
remember when this was a chess channel
Frost Lich will be my most impactful ... It is my favorite card and idk what mage will do without it. I am excited
Actually Keleseth was from the 2nd expansion.
I hope hearthstone never loses you my friend!
"There will never ever be another hero card that generates value as a main hero power"
Galakrond priest be like: dies to face hunter
I can honestly see wild being dominant if things are going as they are. Should be interesting O.o
Do this but for all of the previous “Year of (Insert Animals)”!
I love the overlord outro.
What music is Trump playing? Sounds super familiar
what is the song at the very end of the video called?
excited to see what will come out to bolster Miracle Rogue now that p much everything that isn't classic is rotating.
I AM NOT GOING TO MISS A SINGLE ONE OF THESE CARDS. GOOD RIDDANCE :>
Can we get a prediction on which cards from the current year will be good after the rotation?
I would say loas.
Doctor Boom will be better, too
Idk, steal rogue might be good and also definitely aggro/midrange meta
None will. The game will fade away along with the good cards
Shout out to those who where there for the live stream
is it still worth it to craft Prince Keleseth?
Great video Trump
That keleseth bug tho
Pretty much every Kobolds card
Yea man, Feral Gibberer was a real powerhouse.
@@julianvisser2566 If the card actually did what it's text said it does, then it really would have been the defining card in most hand buff decks.
So excited for Death Knights and K&C to rotate out
Curious whether primordial drake would have made the list for neutrals
You would not believe your eyes if we lost our firefly. #RIP
So do you get the dust from cards from the year of the mammoth back?
If you disinchant them then yes. The only way you get free dust is when a card hits the hall of fame (keeping the card and full dust). You get a "refund" from nerfed cards (full dust disenchant) but other than that the dust is gone.
@@theaquaforcegal1067 oh and which cards are gonna be in the hall of fame?
Nothing from the year of the mammoth but, naturalize, divine favor, doomguard, and any card with the word odd or even
@@theaquaforcegal1067 ok thx luv
Basically, the only good card that they added to rogue in the 6 last expansions is rotating out LMFAO
What? What are you on about? Did you forget about...
*L I L L I A N V O S S ?*
To be honest, henchclan thug is basically a rogue card and it’s amazing
@Chidz Hustle I thought Faldorei Strider and Elven Minstrel were Witchwood cards though.
i really only play rogue and it makes me sad. theyre so scared to make rogue strong with class cards. :(
I always thought Stonehill defender had a weird hat.. Only now when he is gone i see that he has his shield raised above his head.
I am glad that I crafted Genn and Baku before the rotation
I saw a salty space man
Fungal has to be on the list somewhere. So many games were shaped to make sure you weren't destroyed on t5 by a fungal.
will all deathknights be rotated ? what about the others can someone explain me ?
Ooo a cool card would be a board card that lasted for a few turns then went away!!
Trump: "This was a lesson to the Hearthstone team: don't print cards that decide the game on turn 2", "don't print start of game cards", don't print infinite value cards"
Next expansion: HS team prints more infinite value cards, more start of game cards and more cards that decide the game on turn 2
Looking forward to the new meta and your new videos
When is Trump Reviews Trump Reviews Rastakhan’s Rumble?
The team didn't learn their lesson with Highlander cards, Prince cards, or odd/even cards: Deck restrictions are NOT that limiting especially when you have 4-6 expansions in play. In Raza's prime, priest had PLENTY of options to replace the cards they couldn't duplicate. Keleseth's 2 mana card void was never really that restrictive. Genn and Baku were not that restrictive for the benefit.
Wild is a gamemode btw
It is, but half of the time is really unfunny to play, I mean, big priest exists... I tried to play a tess rogue and almost cried
A very highrolly format tbh, do you want a turn 6 8/3 kingsbane in our face?
Calm down guys, I was just joking, wild is not a real gamemode, it is just team5's dumpster ground. No kappa
@@SunbleachedAngel im a wild player and its fun beeing on the highrolling side of the board
