Even you skip the songs you listened already, i suggest you take your time alone to listen to the album from start to finish, for me this album is best taking the grand journey it really is, listen to all in album order,

@@ascensionenergetics85 It will, but for this album, is also a journey from first to last track, so for me it adds to the grand journey doing this.

Did you notice that this first track opens with a movie projector sound spooling up? And then at the end of the last song Lanternlight, the spooling down sound.
I've listened through the album 4 ,5 times now, and still getting used to it, picking things up. Every song is going to take multiples listens to fully appreciate, at least it is for me.

The song “Yesterwynde” by Nightwish explores themes of connection, longing, and the shared experiences of humanity. The choir introduces the song by evoking a journey from darkness into light, emphasizing the bonds that unite us. Floor Jansen’s verse paints a poetic image of a “broken blooming bough,” symbolizing both beauty and fragility, as well as a fading world marked by countless sunsets. There is a plea for recognition and understanding-"See me. See me?“-suggesting a deep desire for connection between the singer and the listener. The final lines evoke a sense of isolation and unity, as if both the singer and the listener are on an "island of a shipless crew,” stranded yet together in their shared human experience. The song reflects Nightwish’s characteristic blend of introspective themes and grand, symphonic storytelling.

This song was written because Tuomas was watching a video of people from iirc the Edwardian era enjoying themselves so it was filmed in cold emotionless black & white and then on the video they colourised the film bringing these long dead people back to life in vivid colour.. the feeling that these were once real people with real lives..they lived and had the same trials, joys and thoughts as us in life that we have now .they were the same as us..just time in that moment separated us.
    ''Out of the darkness
    And into the bright light
    We carry the ties
    That we bind to you)
I am the broken blooming bough
The countless sunsets of a lost world
    See me, see me
So alike we are, you and us, soon
    See me, see you
On an island of a shipless crew
    ''

Hi Nikki, please don't apologize. If something's not for you, that's OK. Not everything will connect the first time, don't worry about it. Like many have said about this record, give the album a few listens and I would bet that you will for sure love some of the songs, if not all of them. I speak from experience. I loved Endless Forms Most Beautiful, really liked Human Nature a lot, and I can tell that in time I will love this just as much...I already have a handful of tunes that I can't get out of my head! Keep going, I think you will enjoy this before you're done with it. 😊💙✌🤘

Maybe it is much like the sadness that the choir that began The Poet and the Pendulum evokes but then evolves into fear/rage/anger but then hope and peace.

I still to this day can`t absorb all of Toumas`s Lyric`s It takes a while to understand. I think as being here in the US that we do not totally appreciate what Nightwish is saying we need to listen and feel what they are saying. That is what I love about this band you think and feel their music, soft or more metal it does not matter. I never liked choir`s much growing up but for the past 15 years that mixed with metal is what I seek out in music.

You should check out the transition between the tracks. the album fits together like puzzle pieces. I won't listen to this track unless I'm listening to my vinyl copy. I guess we wait some more for track 3, which is slightly different than this one. There are so many songs I can't wait for your reaction to. Until YesterWednesday.

    Hi Nikki, greetings from UK
That was a great reaction, very honest 😉
As with any album there will always be songs which you vibe with more than others, and also you have to take account of what mood you are in in any one moment. Sometimes you feel like listening to a more melancholy song, and at other times you might want something more upbeat. It doesn't detract from how good the song itself might be. Personal taste in the moment 😊
A lot of comments I have seen suggest that this album is best listened to all in one hit as it makes more sense than listening to the songs individually. If I were going to do that then I would probably think of this song as a 'filler' to introduce a certain mood to the album, and in that way I think that it works. We know that the mood will change as the album progresses

dont know the whole album yet but I am sceptic as well. after hearing some of the new ones (and the ones which were already longer out) i miss still truly 'iconic' tracks which Tuomas usually was able to compose in every album. basically all i heard till now are kind of nice bits and pieces which are pointless composed together (partly even overloaded) like as one has no real concept but just fills a track. for me it seems Tuomas is a bit off (or friendly said, a bit carried too much away by its own film forgetting even basics he usually does masterfully). nothing really bad, but almost everything kind of pointless and without much substance. at the moment i fear the songs i still didnt listen to are not better ...

Can you consider reacting to this album in a more frequent way? I mean, either doing it in days other that Wednesday, or maybe doing 2-3 tracks at once in one video, if it has to be just Wednesday? Would be nice, because there's a lot to get through, and it will take you almost 2 months lol.

The mix is terrible on this entire album. Maybe lantern light is the one song you can hear the words and the melody and the quality of Floor’s voice.
Tuomas should have made this an instrumental only album.

As far as I understand it, Tuomas mixed it like that on purpose, and personally, I think he had a stroke of genius when he decided to not let the different instruments, Floor's voice included, compete with eachother, overpower the other ones, and try to be the loudest. After all, he is the Metal Mozart. Sure, we can have different opinions about how it sounds, and we are all used to be able to hear Floor's voice loud and clear, high up in the mix, but I am listening through the album right now, currently at Something Whispered Follow Me, and "terrible" is a strong word, and it isn't the word that crosses my mind at this moment, I actually think it sounds quite beautiful. It seems to me like Tuomas wanted Yesterwynde to have more the feel of a classical composition, and it kinda feels a bit like a hybrid between Nightwish and Auri. I like it, and I think I'll like it more and more with each listen.
