That's also the basis of high level play (at least in Cyber Sleuth's PVP) where you would go through a planned route of evolution to gain buffs/debuffs moves before aiming for a specific digimon with a good signature move.
I remember the first thing that I realized about Digimon was that Patamon is super cute. Also the game actually isn’t terrible if you know to dedigivolve and redigivolve your mons and use RUclips tutorials on some of the Harder mazes. But if you don’t grind it is hell.
Digimon were designed as boy Tamagotchi (though both in Japan likely liked it and loved it enough to make the anime, the best intro to the series for explaining what Digimon even is. They act as Tamagotchi in the anime in terms of reincarnation.
In terms of designes: Pokemon: Mostly more consistant, more kid friendly. Digimon: Just make it bad ass or hot, everyone can find at least 1 designe that they like.
I love Digimon World Dusk, but going in with no digimon knowledge is not ideal for Dusk or Dawn. Obviously a flaw of the video game itself but I adored the game having been an anime fanboy and owner of cards and action figures.
Here’s the thing about the game she started with to get into Digimon. Digimon World Dawn and Dusk are sequel games to Digimon World DS (with 2 more sequels that never released outside of Japan). The sequels assume you’ve played the previous game and don’t ease you into it like the first one does. Granted that doesn’t help the problems she herself had, but the reason it was acclaimed as an okay game is because the games were played by prior fans mostly. Also the games were mostly meant to be played in segments, like when kids would come back from school. So not a good streaming game. And I guess Japanese kids are apparently built different when it comes to patience. She’s definitely taking the right step going for Cyber Sleuth next, as that game is more accessible and fun. Especially if you like gameplay from Pokémon and/or Persona/SMT. That being said, the games are more like supplements to the anime and trading card game which a a big majority of the fandom agrees blows the Pokémon counterparts out of the water. As long as you watch the first 3 episodes of the first season, then you’ll get the gist of what Digimon are.
Its kinda funny to that BDSP and SwSh are considered the worst because honestly? Those are (as far as I can tell since I haven't beaten either of them) 110% functional, serviceable, and FUN games in the series. Setting aside how poorly the earlier Gens, especially 1-2, have aged, BDSP and SwSh being the worst in the series speak more to the quality of other games in the series than the lack of quality in those games.
I grew up with Digimon so I really like it. I like Pokémon too, but Digimon is more my childhood than Pokémon. Also at 1:46 you got the names mixed up. Agumon is the dinosaur looking thing and Padamon is the cute orange one with wings
Really well then I guess everyone was a little different when it came to digimon and Pokémon even yuigoh there was a lot of stuff to watch 10-15 years ago that started it all Ok thanks for telling me that was a little confused when I was editing the video too lmao 🤣
I played that game. It was mazey, grindy and had lots of side quest, but it also had lots of digimon from the anime which made it fun. She didn't mention the digifarms. Maybe she liked that part.
I dont know if I can consider myself a digimon fan, since I've only seen the show as a kid, but that intro has lived in my head ever since, occasionally popping up like it was some kind of gum jingle lol
She never figured out how to scan more Digimon or use the Farms, which makes grinding less necessary because the Digimon just grow stronger while you’re doing your quests. The areas weren’t randomly generated so you could probably print out a map online. She very much simplified the plot, and most of the interesting story is in the post-game. Dusk is the better game, and it was the first Digimon game I enjoyed playing- Dusk being Dawn’s companion game. The plot is better and the mechanics are better explained, the tutorial being framed as a training session as opposed to whatever was happening in the tournament with Dawn. I think that Bandai declared the official name for Digimon fans to be “Digidestined” in 2015 or something (Digidestined being the dub name for the kids in the first two seasons). If you want to start with a good Digimon game try Cybersleuth- it’s technically part of the Dawn and Dusk series, but with a deeper plot, better explanations, and many quality of life improvements. It’s in its own setting, but only the first three Story generations and the Wonderswan games have consistent settings, the Wonderswan ones actually being in canon with the first three seasons of the anime. I also enjoyed Next 0rder, but if you want a classic Tamagotchi experience (Digimon itself being a Tamagotchi spin-off) try Version S or Version WS. I don’t know if either have fan translations, though, and they don’t have any official translations either. If you want to know to what extent World 1 is bad, know that it crashes if you try to use a jukebox. Next 0rder is a refinement of the thing, though- both games are about raising a Digimon while also trying to rebuild an abandoned city and attract all the Digimon back, by fighting them, doing fetch quests, and mini games
She probably would have had more fun if she actually engaged the game fairly. Never got any new Digimon, actively admitted that she refused to bother with the tutorial, then decides that it is the games fault that she doesn't understand anything.
Just stick watching Digimons don't play the games or cards. I had Digimons 4 game in that you just play at Digimon and they get swords and guns in it. Never finished it .
That's only in Digimon World 4. That isn't something that happens in the newer games. If a Digimon uses a weapon, then it's because that weapon is part of that particular Digimon's evolutionary form (similarly to how Scyther has two scythe blades for arms, or how Farfetch'd uses a leek as a weapon). Cyber Sleuth & Hacker's Memory are both very good Digimon games.
So here's a something funny, mseadramon stands for megaseadramon, who is a ultimate level, the mega level of betamons natural line is metalseadramon, and this trend also happens with tentamons line where thenultimate is megakanuterimon. Oh and naming conventions aren't a thing, metalseadramon and metalgarurumon are megalevel, and on the other hand metalgreymon is ultimate and the mega is wargreymon, and the guilmons ultimate is wargrowlmon. I could keep going but it's arabbit hole. But digimon is insanely creative too, dorumon is a anagram standing for digital or unknown monster, so any digimon in that line has that name. And anither rule is that if greymon appears in a name it's most likely related to the anchient greymon... Unless your name is dorugreymon then You're a translation mistake. Welcome to digimon
Here's the best way I can describe Pokémon vs. Digimon: Pokémon is a game franchise with an anime, Digimon is an anime franchise with games. The Digimon anime is awesome. From Adventure to Frontier, it's a masterpiece. But the games are just cash grabs taking advantage of the name of a beloved franchise. If a game developer would hire people who genuinely enjoy the anime to create a game, it would be phenomenal. Until that day, Pokémon games still dominate the Digimon games. This is all subjective, of course. My own personal opinion on the Pokémon vs. Digimon games comparison. Not to be taken as gospel. I did enjoy Cybersleuth, though, that was a solid, enjoyable game.
Pokémon has amazing games but pretty much no plot to the TV show, Digimon has horrible games but great storylines in the TV shows, they both have great merchandise though.
Pokemon has a formula it follows to a fault, and Digimon’s a projectile vomit of darts (then they take every dart that didn’t stick and turn them into game. Cyber sleuth is great though) 5:24 it says Pway station, stop
The creator of Digimon was also the creator of Tomagatchi. Tomagatchi was catered to mostly girls while Digimon is catered towards boys.
The funniest thing about digimon, is that ANY digimon can digivolve into ANY OTHER digivolution!
Big worm? That little fire cat could become it!
@@Beagers There are 'curated' lines that are more like pokemon, but yeah, digivolution is basically free.
wtf???????
That's also the basis of high level play (at least in Cyber Sleuth's PVP) where you would go through a planned route of evolution to gain buffs/debuffs moves before aiming for a specific digimon with a good signature move.
It’s so fricken funny to me that the Digimon fandom is so accurate. My favorite Digimon games are awful in a lot of ways and I love them anyway.
Digimon Cyber Slueth actually slaps though. Also I feel like my wallet tingling for Persona 5.
I remember the first thing that I realized about Digimon was that Patamon is super cute. Also the game actually isn’t terrible if you know to dedigivolve and redigivolve your mons and use RUclips tutorials on some of the Harder mazes. But if you don’t grind it is hell.

I prefer a kid friendly art over an art style trying to appeal to edgy teens for sake trying to appeal to edgy teens
So by that logic pokemon is only apealing to kids?..... riiiiight.@@yarc9

It doesn't help that she admitted to actively ignoring the tutorial that would have made things much smoother for her.

Agreed. Like, they’re the worst for long-term Pokémon fans, but I feel like they’re very accessible and serviceable games for newcomers.
I grew up with Digimon so I really like it. I like Pokémon too, but Digimon is more my childhood than Pokémon.

I had Digimon world dawn when I was a kid I don't remember it being that bad I loved using the little training rooms

Many of us felt she could’ve benefited from playing a game that was not a direct sequel and also better for newcomers.
This was a good reaction.

The fun part of Digimon world 3 was the cards.

Digimon is my favorite Franchise ❤
Also Crash Team Racing is really good, too. Honestly harder core than Mario Kart in terms of computer difficulty and technical mastery of the game.

The Digimon games came before the anime. At least in Japanese. Digimon Adventure is based on Digimon World
Digimon is great but games are kinda eh.
