In their recent interview Pablo said he was agonizing whether to write the lyrics in English or Tagalog as JVKE gave them artistic freedom eventually he chose Tagalog for people to appreciate the beauty of the language & Pablo is a great lyricist. Great decision❤❤❤

This feels like a courtship song, especially with the mentions of "harana" (serenade) and the lines speaking of adoration. This JVKE x SB19 collab of Golden Hour goes directly to my playlist. My sole plea, I wish it is longer. But it is still magical as it is.

There are six butterflies in the cover album of the Golden Hour- SB19 remix. The big blue one is JVKE and the five others are SB19 members. If you look at the wings of the 5 butterflies, the designs are inspired by Philippine ethnic textile designs. SB19 representing our culture in their first international collab. I also admire how they incorporate Filipino lyrics in the song. It is not cringey at all. It sounds so heavenly and you can feel the butterflies in your stomach. I bet I Pablo is the one who wrote the lyrics, even if he has no solo lines, he did a very great job in harmonizing. I really love and respect Pablo as a leader, he's so selfless and let the spotlight to be in the other members too.

I'm so proud that they've collaborated with a well known artist. Plus factor that the song is so beautiful. And the impact the there's Filipino language in it, my heart flutter. Then the tagalog lyricism is so deep and beautiful.

Can we just talk about how the Filipino lines remain true to what made the original version considered so well-written? The original, IMHO, conveys the universal human experience of falling in love with another soul. It reminds you of the feeling of time and space all fading away in the light of the human you’re falling for :) the original lyrics and music communicate it so well.
So in a handful of lines, while still staying true to their style, SB19 sang about the same thing - but Filipino-coded. Because it’s not enough to find the equivalent English/Filipino words… people understand art based on the culture they’re coming from. Just think about it…
Sitting in a car with your girl, “drivin’ nowhere fast”? That’s as American as it gets.
Trying to walk up to a girl with a song and an out-of-tune guitar? [Yung palakasan ng loob para mang “harana, harana” kahit na di naman marunong kumanta?] That my friends, is 100% Filipino.
As someone who has lived in both contexts, it just made me smile so hard that the music still fits. So hats off to JVKE, for a well-written song, for pursuing collaborations like this… and to SB19 for coming through - making our music-loving people proud. Hope we all get to rediscover that we have so much more in common than we realize. So good!

For those who are not aware, SB19 is a PPOP boy band from PHILIPPINES. They consist of 5 members, PABLO, STELL, KEN, JOSH, and JUSTIN.
They made history as the first Filipino group and Southeast Asian act to be nominated in the 2021 Billboard Music Awards (BBMA). They also made it to the Top Social Artist category. SB19 was competiting with top global superstars Ariana Grande and 2 big K-Pop groups.
Now, they are making another history with their new PAGTATAG EP, specifically with GENTO (very popular dance challenge on tiktok) and now, the group is on their second world tour where after having a nationwide tour in PH, they will be having their tour on US and Canada.

Okay, so, storytime. It was 12 am, I was still not asleep because I was on threads haha, then my co- A'TIN friend texted me "May collab daw sb19" then she also sent me a screenshot. I was so excited knowing that SB19 had a collaboration with an international artist. I checked twitter and Sb19 just posted their collaboration with JVKE. I was still in shock I couldn't believe that it's actually happening. They are so busy yet, they just suddenly dropped this masterpiece. When I finally put my earphones on I excitedly waited for their turn and I felt the chills in my body as soon as I heard Ken's voice. My jaw dropped because I was not expecting they'll sing their part with tagalog lyrics. Every verse hits hard... it feels like a big church with a whole choir singing. The harmonization is so beautiful, their voices blends so nicely. This song just simply makes me feel like Im in heaven, it feels like you are going to fly..legit..literal butterflies in my stomach. I am so glad na I didn't sleep yet at that time. This song made that night 10x more better and I slept happily.

To those who don't get the tagalog words in its context used in the lyrics. This might help...(specially to those who don't understand the language).
The Tagalog lyrics was so beautifully written that I wish all people who hears it understand the language.
SB19 trademark is their deep and metaphorical lyrics. The use of Tagalog words are so romantic and poetic. So kilig!
* Harana = serenade. A way of courting by singing usually with musical instruments like a guitar.
* Maharlika = is from an ancient language called Sanskrit, Maharddhika = someone rich in wisdom, ability and knowledge. Cultured people who usually looks elegant and sophisticated. Which could mean a graceful person. (Mala-maharlika ang iyong ganda) So she's described as having a graceful beauty.
Maharlika as royalty is actually a mistranslation, historically & factually they are a lower class of people who serves the datus as warriors, kinda similar to the British knights.
* Malaya , is also mentioned because in tagalog, maharlika refers to the warrior class free men. You're free to love whomever you want, regardless of gender, status, race, class, etc.
* Parirala = phrase. (Di magwawakas tila parirala = There'll be no end like a phrase.) A phrase can't be a complete sentence since there's no period or end. When you're happy or in love you wish the day spent with your love will not end.
Or it could also mean that their love is never ending. A forever kind of love. Sana all.

I just want to say really kudos to SB19 for writing the Filipino lyrics to showcase our beautiful language. But not only the language but for introducing our culture, the “harana” which is the way of courting here in the Philippines.

This, Shirley and fuji kaze's are by far my favourite remixes, totally different but so beautiful and don't change the feel of the song. Shirley's Indian remix changes things up the most but in a beautiful way with the traditional instruments, fuji kaze keeps it mostly the same but with his gorgeous soft voice and this guy somehow hypes it up while not really changing the beautiful atmosphere of the song. Love all three of these remixes so much thank you
