FILM DESCRIPTION:
Looking for a way out of their mundane government jobs, Austin Millbarge (Dan Aykroyd) and Emmett Fitz-Hume (Chevy Chase) take the entrance exam for a CIA espionage program. Immediately chosen to take part in a top-secret mission in the Middle East by the officious Gen. Sline (Steve Forrest), the new recruits are set upon by Soviet forces in Afghanistan. Soon it becomes clear that the hapless pair are being used as decoys to expose the Russians for a Cold War nuclear showdown.

Man this was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Once it was released for television and back when cable TV was a single channel (HBO) and a white box with one switch with your TV on channel 3, I probably watched this 15-20 times. Crazy thinking back when cable came out how we all would gather around the tube (what all TV’s used to be) with family and any neighborhood friends on Friday nights to watch whatever was on. It didn’t matter. We were all just amazed in no commercials and being able to watch uncensored “Rated R “ movies...lol!
That was pay cable. By 1985 there were a lot more cable channels than just HBO. And for that matter, there were more pay cable channels than just HBO.
