I like to imagine that some day in the far future, someone that knew this song and got a life extender installed is afk mining in the outskirts of the milky way galaxy, listening to Red Glowing Dust on repeat.
Some of us struggle our whole lives trying to put it all together. I moved to Fairbanks Alaska in 2003. I lived in a tiny studio and played this game at launch. It was a pleasant time when I felt I had it figured out. This song helps me feel that way again. The Game, the soundtrack and this song in particular will hold a place close to my heart until I'm podded for the last time and haven't the isk for an updated clone. :)
I personally think the way they went pay to win was one of the better ways. They started as pay to play, then they added an infinite free trial as the alpha clone, then they made the alpha an actually viable way to play. If you put enough dedication into the game, you can earn isk, then use that isk to buy plex, then use that plex to upgrade your clone state. With that you can become omega without spending a cent
@@HeyStupidman The past was better than the current time. Now it's a mess.. The wars years ago they were something that meant something. Now..? I dunno. Seems too easy.
This takes me to a time and place 16 years ago when I was still filled with wonder and the unknown of EVE and life. Very special; and I wish EVE could be reborn and ignite that feeling again.
Mr. Person (I am Dan92, different name now) My goal was not to make one feel proud, excited, hyped, etc. My goal was to make one understand that, despite the endless complexity of our living world and our existence, we are nothing more to the universe than a grain of sand is to the Sahara Desert. We are to the cosmos as an Angstrom is to an Astronomical Unit. Our entire civilization - starting from our cave-dwelling, quasi-intelligent ancestors and up until today's brightest minds who are manipulating matter down to atomic levels and unlocking the doors to the future - is insignificant. I wanted to make one realize that the total sum of our civilization's history and knowledge is immense, yet minuscule in the greater scheme of existence. Realize that we are alone, small, blind, deaf and mute; that we cannot even begin to imagine what truly lies beyond the comfort of "here and now"; answers to questions we haven't even asked yet, and power beyond anything our minds can conjure. Yet that even the Universe is not invincible nor eternal. Energy cannot be destroyed or created, yet it is wildly dynamic and unstable. Therefore... Yes. You are right.I wanted to make you feel a twinge of fear at the thought that one day there will be nothing left. I wanted you to feel sadness at the thought that the beautiful nebulae and galaxies you see in photographs will disappear. I wanted you to feel confused and surprised by the fact that the infinite, incredible Universe is quite finite. Those emotions would make you feel human. And maybe you'll spend a few seconds, or a few minutes, seeing things through an ephemeral yet wonderful lens. Before you settle back into the routine of "here and now" and the spark fades once more.
Ah my countless hours of playing EVE online listening to this, it made me want to just slow down and take my time doing things, and enjoy the game. Mining to this felt about right though, and I can't even recall how many hours I've spent mining to this very song on repeat, it just seemed to fit so well.
"There is a wide, yawning black infinity. In every direction, the extension is endless; the sensation of depth is overwhelming. And the darkness is immortal. Where light exists, it is pure, blazing, fierce; but light exists almost nowhere, and the blackness itself is also pure and blazing and fierce. Even these stars, which seem so numerous, are as sand, as dust - or less than dust - in the enormity of the space in which there is nothing." - Carl Sagan
This really makes me want to play Eve again. Stopped playing a few years ago as I couldn't subscribe any more. However, I sure do miss the old days of Eve Online.
I used to queue this song up when entering the more difficult rooms of Level 4 missions, back when that was still a risky thing for me to do. Calms the nerves yet still provides a certain kind of intensity. Focus. Target the cruisers before they get too close. Pulse your reps. Dream of one day flying a Nightmare. What an insanely beautiful song.
This is what I imagine will play when the people of New Eden finally reach the Milky Way and meet their ancestors for the first time. If this game ever goes offline, that must be how it ends, not some anticlimatic crap like Star Wars Galaxies.
Actually EVE online is set in the very distant future. Several dozen thousand years and perhaps even millions. The EVE gate was discovered over 6000 years from now after Humanity had devoured the resources of the Milky way so we can easily assume that Humanity was a type 3 civilisation before they even arrived in new eden. It is believed that the sleepers and/or Jovians are humanity's earliest ancestors in new eden and we based on the fact that current 4 civilisations are type 2/interstellar at best. can assume that sleeper technology is more advanced than we can possibility imagine. Now after the gate was collapsed all technology was lost and we have no data on what happens to our ancestors back in he Milky way. We can guess they either died out due to exhausting the milky ways resources or they dedicated their final generations into building ships capable of travelling to another galaxies...we just dont know.
amazing beautiful... stay here one second, it is now, and it is good...so good this moment... the now is the best.. stay here...thanks for this moment...and this wonderful music....written for us...
"The asteroid is depleted". (And then i shit my pants when i get locked by ratspawn cause i had music volume on like 1% and just ramped up speaker sounds when the Red Glowing track came on)
Captain's log: 4 ABY: We have just dealt a huge blow to the Imperials over the forest moon of Endor. During the battle we sustained moderate damage to the engines and hyperdrive. Admiral Ackbar along with the Chief of State has ordered me, along with other capitol ships, to rendezvous for an assault to liberate Corscuant. As soon as repairs are finished we will precede with our next mission.
That music... makes me think about life... this is so good! And also the picture makes me love the space :D I loved it! It's one of the best musics I ever met I'm my whole life ^w^ Did anyone thinked about life hearing this music too?
I first heard this song in another video. It played over a eulogy for Robert Kennedy. It is played over the speaker reciting a few lines from Robert's "Day of Affirmation" speech to South Africa. In the closing of the eulogy, a phrase that Robert often said always sticks out to me. "Some men see things as they are and say "why?"; I dream things that never were and say 'why not?'" When i listen to this piece, I am filled with hope.
What's out there ? Beyond our Star system ? Billions of points of Light, making their way to us from already dead stars. Looking back in time, out beyond...Looking out into non-existence. Echo's of the past, slowly fading away at the speed of light. Yet I know Life is real. And I'll keep looking beyond, until I no longer exist.
This piece puts me in a deep state of introspection... Somewhere in the Cosmos, I exist in this instant of time on the planet Earth; June 8th, 2016.. 1:34 AM.
If you play EVE, you get it. If you haven't, you don't. Founding member here, still play on and off but it ain't the same. I remember celebrating 100 concurrent users online, space was space back then, EMPTY. Cheers to a good upload.
One can imagine just about anything to this song. I envision the universe in all its marvel, at a perfect equilibrium of peace and tranquility, only to be reminded at the bass-line that ultimately everything must come to an end. Or simply, just a nice song to close your eyes too lol

And to make matters worse, gameplay mechanics are lowered down to favor them. You can be a master of drones, damn things miss NPC attacks in 30% of the situations and don't even think about retaliating when you're ganked. And if you try to not disturb anyone, damn Cormorant suiciders will gank even a Retriever... No, I'm having fun now when gaming...
There is no light at the end of the tunnel, unless death is that light to you, this tunnel is for us to move through it, and accomplish things not for ourselves, but for those before us so that they can go further. Our own lives, are not even about ourselves. Think about that.
Same here. I love the concept of EVE and what it represents in the gaming world, but some switch just flipped with me one day and it just doesn't hold my interest.
This turns me into a curled up space baby slowly floating away into the infinite depths of the void. EVE always put me to fucking sleep when I just wanted to mine some damn asteroids.
Remembering the one time while doing a level 4 mission and then this song played while I eventually got swarmed by the npcs and getting blown the fuck up....

2020.. still listening.. this has kept me sane through Covid lockdowns..
2023.. still listening.. this has kept me sane through a war and cost of living crisis..
@@BrokenKanuckDo not lie.
how is this master peice more than a decade old and still nothing can top it!
It's about 20+ years old, actually. Pretty wild.
Jon, if you only knew how much of an impact this song has had on my life.
The perfect song for in a sci-fi movie when they're going through space and looking at all the nebula and stuff
+Josh Frank so fucking true
watch a season of hand plates then come back and listen to this don't worry it's on youtube
Reminds me of Sunshine when Mercury passes by
Google "Future of an expanding universe" and carefully read the wiki article's "Timeline" section while listening to this. Feel the feels.
Wow....seriously man...thank you.

Don't go back. It'll ruin those memories you have.
This song instantly invokes memories of my life around 2008-2011. So much nostalgia.
One of those songs which you can't believe humans made.
You will always find us in the Red Glowing Dust.
If I had a spaceship, I think I'd probably spend years at a time just sitting in one spot and looking out the window, with music like this playing.
awesome track. I wish CCP had never got rid of that juke box

and ironically the ancestors are us today, though new eden people are so advanced; it's paradoxal!
RellyTheCheater
More accurately, we're the ancestors of the ancestors. The EVE timeline spans tens of thousands of years. :D

This song is so very master ultra fucking beauty... its a masterpiece song forever.
Is the juke box in the game again? I have fond memories of playing the game back in 2010 and hearing the songs that fitted the atmosphere so well.
Sadly I don't think so. I played around 2010-2015 and every time I hear this I still get flooded by memories. Miss that vibe EVE had

once you play it you'll realize it's not that amazing. It's good, it's pretty, but it's not as complex as one might think from the outside looking in.
