You could transition to skating backwards so you can catch that pass on your forehand, you'll probably need to stride once to pick up some speed so you can get your body onto the other side of it. Or yes, let it cross your body to try to pick it up on the back hand but still not an easy pass to corral
Try just skating with your stick on the ground. Gives a better target for the passer, pass will be better, qnd reception also. Thats a siuation when you will receive the puck. Or your player is dumb or doesn't trust you, but just put your stick where you want the puck.
Hey man i also struggle with those kind of passes and the best thing you can do is catch it on your backhand and start stickhandling (hope this helps)

My dad taught me to receive a pass by cupping and moving the stick towards the direction of the puck
