I love the app! I have looked at several different fabrics and then gone to the calculator and inserted the repeats and widths. How SIMPLE this makes the calculations for fabric and dimensions for the shades. And now this video ! I am so happy you did this for all of us 'visual' learners! Thank you!!
This is a great tutorial, however I wish pressing the fabrics before construction was part of the instructions. Something I’ve learned the hard way! I’ve been sewing for over 50 yrs and I find the extra time it takes to press is well worth it!
I looked at next day blinds and Calico Corners - the prices are staggering. After viewing the tutorial, I believe I can tackle this project on my own. Thank you a ton.
Whew, this was no small job! I'm going to need to watch it a few more times before I have the stamina of Cindi. I commend Sailrite for presenting this to us and also for spectacular camera work, it was right down there were we could see every angle and not miss anything. Great job Cindi and the commentator at Sailrite, thanks.
Do you...or someone...or ANYBODY, think it's (going to be) harder to make this hobbled shade with a window that is 6 ft LONG and 31 inches in height?? I totally forgot to take that into consideration last night when I absentmindedly ran to JOANN to get 3 yards each of relatively thick, outdoor like, fabric and a liner. And darn...I forgot about losing the print which looks like big splashes of watercolor but actually it is only shades of grays and off white. Great video and you make it look SEW easy..and I appreciate that. But I'm still certain I need my Mommy to help me! :( She could create anything so beautifully.
Thank you for not bothering to show us how to do our own calculations. I cant wait to have the money to go buy the ipad or iphone or whatever so I can take a class to learn how to run the damn thing so I can get online and register my bank account so I can buy an app and figure out how to operate it so I can "simplify" making this shade. I'll just go somewhere else to learn how to do a job you had claimed you were going to show us in your Hour Long video.
What a shame that the app is only apple. Those of us who are professional engineers and are tech savvy would never use an apple device. This is the reason why. Most apps are made for Windows/Android.
Great camera angles & nerves of steel on those rings Cindy. Thank you for the excellent tutorial.
Thanks! The camera angles were all skill, but the nerves of steel might have been the coffee kicking in!

This is a great tutorial thank you!
+Sonia Latham Glad you liked it!
Thanks so much. It is so clear. Do you have top down roman shade video?
I love the look. How can I achieve this look using a sheer material?
What adjustments would you make to this for an outside mount? The wooden board across the top will be visible from the side, I think
You are correct, if you desire to hide it you would have to make a small valance box at the top of the shade.

How to calculate distances from Anel wheel to another
I wish you had this app for Android! Off to doing my own math! :-)
Jim has not yet designed that, but he says he is working on it.
Interesting tutorials . Can the hobbled blind be hang on a ready made roman shade kit instead of hang it on a wooden board? Thank you
We have not tested that, but it may be possible. Try it and let us know.
I searched the app store on my macbook pro. The search did not produce the app. Is this no longer available.
It is still available: Try searching the Apple App store for "Roman Shade Fabrication Pro"
Apple?? I am assuming we android users don't get the app? :(
Is the app still available? I'm having trouble locating it on an iphone. Thanks!
Yes, but it is not an app anymore, it is free at this link: www.fabric-calculator.com/hobbledWebApp/index.html
How I buy this roman shade curtains?
Is the app no longer available? I realize this is an older video so just curious since I can’t find it in my App Store.
Hi Melissa, the paid app is no longer available, but we still offer the free version which you can find here.

Where do you get the shade app
It is free here: www.fabric-calculator.com/hobbledWebApp/index.html
great tutorial! Is there an Android app?
Jim Grant is the designer of the app. I am not sure he has an Android version for this hobbled roman shade yet. I know he is working on it.
Cindi is very detailed about what she does but where is Angela?
+peggyt1243 She no longer works for us.
Sailrite muy bueno el tutorial pero seria posible hacer la explicacion en espanol
The only thing I do when I make roman shades is press all the wrinkles out before measuring and cutting.
+Designs by Sandy Good suggestion.
!!!I just want to know how to hobble the shades.... is it a fold method? Where in the video is it sheesh.
Found it 😓34:23
