That main connector for the license plate lights/harness can be unplugged early on, before pulling the bumper off. And be careful with the tail light screws-as they spin there are adjusters that they thread through that move the tail light itself up and down in position. If they spin a bit while removing or installing the tail light screws you may have to spend some time trying to reposition the lights to have them sit at the right height. The 991 bumper is designed for friendly removal since it's required for maintenance, I find it much easier than the 996 and 997 rear bumpers.

I'm enjoying the videos. I'm looking to buy a 992, and I assume it would be mostly similar to this car.
This thing is pure VW. It's assembled the same way with the same type of fasteners and electrical connectors.
The trick with the electrical connectors is to push the connector into the light housing as you simultaneously pull back on locking tab; then pull the connector. It should come right off.
It would definitely be easier to remove the bumper cover with the rear wheels off.
You need some plastic trim tools. You can get a big set off ebay for a few bucks. Also a Cat's Paw tool is handy. Snap On A177 or similar.
