  • A demonstration of the trimming of a wheel-thrown heart-shaped bowl on my Giffin Grip using the Flexible Sliders. I love my Giffin Grip, and when I found they made flexible sliders, I was in heaven! Giffin Grip liked some of my videos so much they sent me a new one with the flex sliders! AMAZING! I've loved making irregular shaped bowls for years, but trimming them was a real chore, as I had to go back to the old-school way of using lugs of clay on a bat to hold it, or somehow even it up on my Grip with sponges to center it. BUT- the invention of the Flexible Sliders has changed all that. They are super-easy to use, and make centering a bowl like these heart bowls a breeze. They even have holes, so you can use the extender rods with them for tall forms like irregular vases.
I am a high school ceramics teacher and potter. I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 28 years, the past 20 have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsA...
I started my RUclips channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students!

I have a very old Giffin Grip, I think I bought it in the 80's. I was wondering if I can get the flexible sliders for mine. My Giffin Grip is the same as yours and in very good shape.

Reading more comments, it looks like I can get the sliders separate. Great.
