What about ethanol free fuels? I have only ever put 91 ethanol free in my 15 impreza. I wonder how much cleaner my engine, fuel system is compared to 10% ethanol fuels.
If you know how much premium gasoline varies in regards to high distillate aromatics, you will realize that you are rolling the dice regarding how clean it will burn.
Nearly 40 million miles a month here in Wichita KS is being driven on E30 each month and most are non flex fueled vehicles. Personally, I have 290,000 miles on my F150 using E30 with GearHead Performance tune. I would prefer to teach mechanics how non-FFV's do better on E30 than FFV's. E30 will bump LTFT's about 7 to 8 percent, so as long as there are no issues like dirty MAF or vacuum leak, no check engine light. Having a GM switch to to the FFV ignition table running on E30 will lose performance since E85 has a faster flame speed. If there is an issue with material compatibility using E30, then we should be questioning the use of premium gasoline since the most damage to seals, hoses, gaskets and plastics, is due to the variation of aromatics in gasoline, not ethanol.

You'll get better gas mileage than 91 or 93 with 10% ethanol but still be knock limited due to the octane rating still being low.
