    nice nice.. sniper controlling timing too? you'll wanna transfer that learn to base soon. looks like its correcting a lot.. also looks hella lean at idle btw.. usually want idle a bit more on the rich side. 14.5'ish normally.. some of the bigger cam guys run 13.5-14. also, what's your timing look like at idle? looked like i saw around 20. can probably bump that to more around 25'ish.

      Thanks for the comment. This was filmed a year ago and I’ve made very many tweaks to everything now. The car runs awesome and it’s also taking well to my nitrous system. I simply shot that video because I was happy the laptop cable and Live usb-link install went well. I’ve tuned everything much better since then. I have my target idle at 14.7 afr in most temps and map ranges. Dialed in my idle timing to 22 deg and my wide open throttle is 34.5 degrees. When I’m
      Spraying nitrous I pull out 2deg for every 50 hp shot. Currently at a 150 Wet shot and I’m pulling 5.5 deg . I haven’t done a walk-around video like this in a while, perhaps I should
      Make a new one. If you look at some of my other videos on this channel you will see/hear that the car is dialed in.

    What's all the pointing about?
    where does the laptop connect to?

      I had just got the system running via the laptop and I was filming it for a friend and pointing to where he needed to look. It connects to the USB/Can-bus connector that comes out of the sniper ecu. You have to buy a splitter and then the length of cable.

      Not that I could tell actually. It seemed to jive with the handheld readings. It is wired via a splitter so the data should be arriving to each device at the same time, but if the computer/laptop has some type of lag to it, I couldn’t tell.

      You need to buy a USB cable that can plug into a laptop. Since you probably also want to use the handheld too, you will need a cable splitter too. A good company to buy from is EFI solutions Pro. They have both the cable and the splitter

      You need to buy the extra can-bud cable and the Y-splitter for it to connect to a laptop. Cable can be bought on Holley’s website. It’s well worth the $

    That’s a beautiful car, I have one close but not as clean as this! Anyway, do you use a battery disconnect switch? I do because I’m still building and don’t drive it much yet and when I leave it hooked up it seems to kill my battery so I shut it off. I think that I am losing my tune information when I do that, it seems I have to go back through and set it up again, I use the dongle as well when I am really checking it and is pretty helpful, although I am running the dual sync and Holley stuff, have you had anything like that? Thanks.

    • @IROCZman15
      @IROCZman15  2 года назад +1

      I do have a battery kill switch, mostly because I moved the battery to the back of the car and drag racing tracks require you to have a battery On/Off switch when you do this. However, I love having the on/off switch, because anytime I am going away from the car for a day or so, I just kill the power to it. Also for working on it and welding etc, I just hit the switch.
      As for you loosing your tune info, that should not effect it. The tune is stored into the ECU of the sniper, and every time you use it, the tune adjusts and saves into the sniper ecu (which is in the throttle body). The SD memory card is used for storing tune files that are not currently in use, and it also saves any datalogs you create. Turing the battery power off wont effect your ecu's saved data or the data on the SD memory card though, so its likely you have another issue at hand...which I am not sure what it could be, I would advise ya to go over to the actual "holley efi sniper tech forums" and see if you can run a search for your issue, or create a post about the issue. Those guys are PROS and experts in this stuff.

      @@IROCZman15 thanks for the information, one more question if you don't mind. By getting the splitter dongle you are able to make changes @ real time, then just save the file( on laptop) and it is automatic save in your handheld sd card? I appreciate the help, I am having some issues and really appreciate your time.

    • @IROCZman15
      @IROCZman15  2 года назад

      @@voodoowylde the dongle/splitter is a great tool. It does allow you to make detailed adjustments in real time and save them both to the laptop and to the sniper ecu. Then once the tune is in the ecu, you just simply save it from the ecu to the Sd card. The laptop does not link to the sd card while the car is running, but you can always put the file to the sd card afterwards

      Thanks man. Feel free to check out some of my other videos. I have a 15 minute one where I do a walk-around and discuss the highlights of the car. The red is a GM flame red. Code 81 C8508 A. It’s a DuPont Centari paint. I welded up everything under the hood but I didn’t weld the strut tower sheet metal actually. Everything else I welded closed and shaved

      Dave Martin Thanks for the paint code. I’m not even close to that stage yet though haha. I have the 3.1 liter and getting ready to drop in a 388 with the sniper efi. I hammered the shock mounts so it sits flush so I can weld it but I burned through a couple holes(new to welding). I heard I can use a copper plate behind it, so I’m going to try that soon and grind everything down. Thanks for the paint code again, I’ll check out some of your other videos.

      @@John-jr1si sounds good. yes, a bunch of people have welded the strut towers tot he engine bay sheetmetal. you have to make like 5 full passes, building the welds up on top of eachother. there are some photos on www.thirdgen.org. Often the filler cracks anyways though. To me, it just wasn't worth it, especially since I USE this car for drag racing, autocross, road course, and street use. You can use copper behind the metal to help weld closed the holes, the weld wont stick to it. I love the holley sniper efi. Glad i went with it.

    • @IROCZman15

      you need to buy a separate cable-splitter and a can-bus cable from holley or another reputable efi retailer and that is what can plug into a laptop for live timing. You will need the holley software on the laptop too
