Thank you! I was copying out a recipe for "Mama Pulla" for my daughter that a Finnish lady had written for me years ago. I thought I'd go on RUclips to see if anyone had demonstrated making it and found your video. It's just perfect, so I sent the video instead of writing out the recipe. I worked at a Finnish home in Burnaby, B.C. (a suburb of Vancouver) and there were such lovely people there and you remind me of them.
Hey I'm living in Burnaby! Moved here recently from Brazil, is it a bakery or anything like that? I wanna eat some good Pulla (I have a Finnish friend living in Brazil that made those for us with coffee almost every Friday afternoon and I miss it so much)
I learned things! Grandma was the first of my family born in the USA. I love pulla and my son posted this on facebook for everyone, lucky for me as I have been craving to make pulla!
Thank you for this video. My daughter and I are going to make pulla in honour of my Mummo Eila. Kittos Miriam! Please can you make more videos on Finnish recipes 🙏
My Finnish mother made pulla for us and it was a favorite. She passed away at 94 recently and I think I will make a batch and eat the entire thing! Thank you. Hei Hei!
Thank you! I made this today for my Finnish husband and his mother. It was wonderfully delicious! I would love a video on Rieska bread, should you feel so led.
I am making this my first time. Mom and dad spoke Finnish but we children of theirs never learned to speak. We were not exposed to Finnish cooking except maito keitto which was bread boiled in milk so milk soup but with soggy disgusting bread and mom sold it as Finnish food. We never had cardamom bread at home. This year my sister and I are learning this part of our heritage.
Greetings from a Juntunen in Finland! I hope you enjoy pulla and any other Finnish foods you decide to try :) Some of my father's uncles or great uncles emigrated to the US but contacts couldn't be kept back then of course, so our family's never really known what became of them
Tomorrow my Niece (Miriam) and I will try to make some by your recipie. My Mother made Cardamon bread almost year round. We called it Bulla. We can call it Pulla too. ❤
Kiitos paljon Miriam. I love pulla and it is part of my mother's heritage, she was born in Finland. It is so difficult for me to travel at the moment I will definitely make some of this.
Hello! I am from Bolivia, and I greatly admire the culture of Finland, from the classical musicians, the art to the beautiful gastronomy. Unfortunately, there aren't many of the ingredients they have here, but I try to get them. Fortunately this weekend I got cardamom seeds (which I will keep as a treasure) and I was able to follow Pulla's recipe :D There are some variations but what better than to follow your recipe, with so much experience and authentic from Finland? I thank you very much and I hope you can continue uploading videos, please. A thousand thanks and fraternal greetings from Bolivia in South America.
You could research if there are any edible plants which grow in Bolivia that have seeds that taste similar to cardamom. I came across a video recently with a plant whose seeds apparently taste like cardamom.
Thank you so much for this video. My grandmother came from Finland when she was 11 and I’ve always wanted to learn more about the culture. I’d love to see more of your videos ❤️

This recipe and method is very similar to my Mummu's, which I have made for many years. I'm curious about your late addition of the softened butter and whether that results in needing less flour up front? My aunt's version uses melted butter and 2 cups milk, and I have wondered if making it liquid increases the need for flour... we find we use about 8-8.5 cups this way. Also I noticed on your counter you have both bread flour and all-purpose. Do you combine the two?

My Mum made pulla every Christmas. I'm hoping to make it this year with her recipe. I wish so much I could have made it with her. ❤
I miss my mothers Pulla. So I will give this a go.
You will have to let me know how it turns out!

Thank you! My mother and grandma made this all the time when I was growing up. There really is no sweet bread with the unique taste of pulla.

How much is one cup of flour in grams? And milk in ml? I ask because some people use American cups and some uk cups and sources are controversial
If I don't have the mixing machine, will I get the same result by mixing everything with my hands?
Yes, most of my life I have kneaded it by hand. It is the traditional way.
No butter?
Making it tomorrow,
Thank you
