How many of people that are 18 and younger still listening to the good old classics?
Hey Rick. I read recently that Frank Sinatra is huge among many of the young people today.
I Love Franks music and I am 53
Lots of us
ME
When I was 4 (now 21) my best friend was my neighbor (a 94 year old woman). She was the grandmother I never had. She had so many older musicians on vinyl and Frank Sinatra was one of them. We'd always dance to him in her living room. I grew up with his music 💜 one of my favorite artists of all time.
Good 'ol blue eyes! My grandad used to love his music before he passed away 1 week before Lockdown.
"Never, never change". Gives me chills every time.
A guy named Anderson, slightly drunk, came home to South Pasadena from a party on Bunker Hill with his wife in 1948, and this song was playing in their '48 Merc. She fiddles with the house keys, and they eventually make it inside. He whispers in her ear, "just the way you look tonight". 70 years later, 2018, I, Mr. Martinez, slightly drunk from a West LA get together, pulls into the same driveway, and after listening to the same exact song in our 2011 Dodge, whispers in my wife's ear, "just the way you look, tonight". Romance and Frankie Blue Eyes is sort of a timeless thing.
His music flowed through my house as a child. Another lifetime...
C'mon, guys, cut this guy some slack. Sure, the posted lyrics leave a lot to be desired, both in spelling and in punctuation. But, what the heck, his heart was in the right place, he wants to share his enthusiasm for a truly great song..
And not to mention possibly autocorrected. We've all been a victim of it.
Stacy Wood Hey, Stace, are we related?
Hey, Jim! Quite possibly.. Do you have family in Arizona?
Stacy Wood No, 'fraid not, Stacy. My folks were from the South. I love the Flagstaff area, though.
that's what caught my eye, when the word 'worm' instead of 'warm' but I'd overlooked it because--- Ol' Blue Eyes.....love his songs, no matter.
Can we just revive this kind of music today? it'd be great! :D
+Tomato Man The legends all died off, we wouldn't have the best of the best.
+Tomato Man You can only see that in Vegas.
+Tomato Man One guy that's still pretty good is Brendon Urie, I suggest listening to Panic! At The Disco. Or just watch Urie's periscopes, he sings in them more Sinatra style songs. My personal Favorites are 'Death Of A Bachelor' and 'Impossible Year'.
Listen to Lukas Graham!!
:v
I know! It's like Christmas in every song!
lyrics
Some day, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight
Yes, you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft
There is nothing for me but to love you
And the way you look tonight
With each word your tenderness grows
Tearin' my fear apart
And that laugh, wrinkles your nose
Touches my foolish heart
Lovely, never, never change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it?
'Cause I love you
A-just the way you look tonight
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose
It touches my foolish heart
Lovely, don't you ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it?
'Cause I love you
A-just the way you look tonight
Mm, mm, mm, mm,
Just the way you look tonight
Thank you
This is a lyric video...
But-
but-
it's a lyric video?
smile so worm*
Listening to this while home quarantined.
Good times indeed
Did you live?
'Frank Sinatra Immortal' with this Song. Whose not gonna fetch this up for listening in a few hundred years?
I dj'd dances in OK for about 3 years... weddings..particularly...there was NEVER a more romantic and swinging song than this song...with Francis Albert and The Count...just tap your foot and listen to these fantastic lyrics...they are..the best!
I don't remember a bad song. Everything this man would sing went right thru you.
"Your smile so WORM" LOL. I know it was probably an honest mistake, but it's pure comedy.
You didn't notice the case either? Suppose to be cause
+PHATBOIE *supposed
+thebullybuffalo umm... It's suppose not supposed.smdh....
PHATBOIE Nope. No need to condescendingly shake your head. It's supposed to be supposed. Just read out loud "It's suppose to be.." it just sounds stupid. Just be humble, laugh it off and accept correction. Don't lash out like some insecure arrogant person.
The second meaning of the adjective supposed (pronounced suh-post) is to indicate something that is intended, required, permitted, expected. For example,
Soldiers are supposed to follow the orders of their commanders. (Required)
Or, The word in this line of Just the Way you Look Tonight is supposed to be "cause."
That means the word *ought* to be "cause." It is *required* and *expected* that the word of that slide of the video be "cause" because the actual word of the song is "cause."
writingexplained.org/suppose-vs-supposed-difference
+PHATBOIE Well he told you.
There is ONLY ONE SINATRA. HIS VOICE IS IMPECCABLE
Love it! ❤ 😊 Frankie is great!
Just listen to that arrangement. Holy crap, his music is timeless and classy.
sono passati 17 anni dalla tua morte e 46 anni da uno dei più grandi capolavori che come te ,non hanno e non avranno eta grazie maestro
WOW
Wonderful song sung by ( in my opinion ) the supreme male popular vocalist of all time,Frankie.
The way he shapes the lyrics & his timing is incredible.
Of course the brilliant backing helps also.
From a 71yo Aussie fan.
Don't let us forget his fabulous voice.

Just too much for a lazy Friday!!!! Thanks Mr. Sinatra for all those years!!!!
You're welcome.
Sir Sinatra j a few
Ain’t nothing like Sinatra. Timeless 💕
Just something about his songs (and any song from this era really) that just tugs on my heart and brings me to a happy place. Now if only “music” nowadays could be so effortlessly beautiful and timeless like this that’ll be wonderful 👍🏽💯
I was at a wedding and this song was playing while the bride and father were dancing. It almost made me cry while smiling.
Plutarch Heavensbee, this is the song I chose to dance with my daughter at her wedding, last July. Lovely!
FRANK YOU MADE YOUR SONGS SOUND LIKE A SOOTHING RIVER,YOU ARE GREAT SIR
2018, 21 years old and I cant get tired of listening the great Sinatra
Thanks for posting this with the words and of course "blue eyes" picture is pleasing to look at too!! :-)
Jerome Kern, Dorothy Fields, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and George Stevens brought me here! 1936-2016, 80 years and still going strong! Thanks for the memories Frank.
+JustMe
astaire defines this song, as sung to ginger. swing time is their best and this song defines american popular music.even sinatra is taken by it.
Nelson Riddle.....nobody mentions the arrangers! These guys are “behind the scenes” and deserve some recognition! Give a 👍🏼 if you agree! Thanks!
Why can't there be more songs like this today?!
in fact:
"Some day, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight
Yes, you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft
There is nothing for me, but to love you

Lovely; never, ever change

Just the way you look tonight
[Instrumental]
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose
It touches my foolish heart
Lovely, Don't you ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it? Cause I love you
A-just the way you look tonight
Mm-Mm, Mm-Mm
Just the way you look tonight

Another great rendition of Frank's evergreen work.
I love these old songs. I remember so clearly my Mom listening and singing along very softly and she so enjoyed and that led me to liking them too. I do agree we need more of these now aday's.
jesus christ , music like this is the warmest music ever . whew . 🤩
Wormest*
Just to get back to musical essential: Great recording, great phrasing etc. 32 bar tune. 16 bars - 8 bars repeated, bridge (major scale) in a key a minor third above the first 16 bars. Final 8 bars back to initial key. The bridge and turnaround back to the A form are one of the best vocals and orchestrations I have heard. Also thanks to Nelson Riddle - since I think he orchestrated this. Besides this technical stuff - this is such a great tune and lyrics by the late, great Jerome Kern.
Dorothy Fields wrote the lyrics.
Yep that sure sounds like Nelson Riddle's orchestration!
Benjamin David totally agree!
Riddle was his best back up orchestra. Haven't heard anything even comparable in arrangements. Ever.
Haing no music education --- HUH? Just darn good music
Great song! Thanks very much for posting!
80 years and it's still fiyah...
The SIX Holy shit, 82 years now?!
An 80 year old would not put 'FIFYA' or fire
This is not 80 years old.. it's more like 60
Katie Cookson who said he was 80?...
He is talking about the song
But this is a cover made in 1964, the original song was composed in 1936
Gets me everytime I am getting ready to go out...oh boy how I wished in this era of music!
The young man Riley on the Voice last night did the song justice. He was excellent.
i agree...
Gail Taylor check out Sal Valentinetti in AGT, he has the whole package!
Gail Taylor IKR HE SOUNDS JUST LIKE HIM

Jerome Kern/Dorothy Fields's wonderful romantic ballad "The Way You Look Tonight", earned the attention of the fabulous Frank Sinatra's incomparable jazzy performance, directed this beautiful ballad to supreme heights. The orchestra gave wonderful support & their performance was always on the radar with Sinatra's style & interpretation of this beautiful music. Peter Farrar.
more songs like this is needed

Classic never dies.
Too Smooth from a Gen-X'er!
"Why am I shedding tears?"
Mr. S, my favorite poem is IF by Rudyard Kipling. When you return, read it every chance you get and it will help you. I also like a poem that says, "So many religions, so many creeds that wind and wind; when all this sad world needs is the art of being kind.
Frank Sinatra, please come back to haunt today's singers and teach them to sing the right way!
Please can we bring THIS AMAZING music back 🎶🎙💜
"Keep that breathless charm". Wow!!

What a wonderful song with à jazz and the Good voice of Frank Sinatra !
I read that Dorothy Fields, the lyricist, heard Jerome Kern's simple voice and piano demo of the melody and cried.
Frank sinatra one in a million the best always and forever classics never die ever ❤❤❤❤
The concept of a worm smile is a little upsetting.
fantastic
+Arthur Harrison
That made me laugh really hard actually
+BeenieBomb :)
+Arthur Harrison Just think of the little worm from Labyrinth :) not quite as upsetting as one from a real earthworm, or an earthworm twisted into a smile and held up to someones face XD
Terring too lol
Love these old timers
Brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it
Another dapper melody from the same 1936 movie Swing Time, is A Fine Romance. Treat yourself if you've never had the pleasure! Here's to everyone else, and I hope your having a truly pleasant Friday afternoon.
