Jeffree Star is one of the biggest drivers in cancel culture, he actively contributed to the 'cancelation' of Laura lee, manny mua, kat Von d, and the most controversial of all, James Charles, he was part of the group that almost drove James Charles to suicide, and you say you dont agree with cancel culture? But your ok with Jeffree star who actually actively tries to cancel people all the time, he's still trying to cancel Huda beauty, kylieJenner, his behaviour has not changed.
Were all human and have all at times said inappropriate or insensitive things in our lifetime ... That being said did we learn and grow from those mistakes we made ... Are we a better version of ourselves today than we were 5 years ago ...like you I hate cancel culture however there are things that have come out that he has done more recently that makes me think he hasn't changed as much as he tries to perceive ... So as a fan of his and his brand I'm falling out of love with him more and more everyday ... I feel the same as you :) brands are not people and if you feel the need to cancel a brand you should do it based on its ethics (cruelty free, good wages, etc.) not by the person in charges social media accounts. Because then you're not hurting the person at the top, you're hurting all the people putting in the actual work to keep the brand alive ❤️

I love the grungy greys and silvers in the palette and the look you have created is gorgeous, I used to try to create this kind of look back in the 80s (oops showing my age now 🤣🤣). Totally get where you are coming from, it's far easier to judge than be judged, thank heavens social media wasn't around to record my chaotic teens and 20s, with the best will and intentions in the world its impossible to go through life without offending someone 😔😔
I feel for you because it’s understandable you love the brand but not the owner. I find Jeffree an amazing artist and have followed him since I was a teenager. Once made aware of his long list of problematic behaviours I couldnt get myself to do it anymore. I could never buy his products because he IS the brand. I cannot give money to someone that hates who I am (a black woman) or people that I love. Still will watch the video and see what you create and hopefully recreate it with the products I have at home. Much love to ya!

Oh come on. If u have been watching him since u were a teen then it was probably long after he made those comments and long after they were made public. He yelled the N word over an over to white women walking down the street when he was 19. I hate when people talk about "the comments" an not say what he said and how old he was. Justin Bieber is on video as a teen saying the N word over an over, everyone still loves him.
When I was 13, I called a classmate who was black the N word, I don't even know why, I remember her crying, I remember being in the principal's office with her very well dressed parents, I remember her dad wearing a suit and tie and I remember her mother wearing a very long classy floral dress, I don't remember if her parents said anything to me but I remember them being sad, not angry, to this day I still remember the girls name and to this day it's the only regret I carry. I'm lucky that I realized early on how wrong that word is and how horrible it is to hate on people just because of their skin but u can't help how ur raised and who ur raised by. I would hate to be judged today on that disgusting moment in my life. Have u never said a hateful word about white people? I could never sit on a pedestal looking down at others past actions. Who we are today is what matters.

It's important to understand as consumers that our money supports the people who run the company. Jeffree star has viciously attacked people and laughed at other's pain. He still does it. It's not "cancelling" him, it's not supporting him because he's been horrible to people and uses his gigantic platform to tear people down. He called James Charles a sexual predator.

As you said it is not my apology to accept but I genuinely like to think people can learn and change. We all should be doing that regardless of who we are; I certainly hope I will continue to do so. I also think forgiveness is really important, I will never endorse cancel culture, not for them but for me. Hating someone for their past will never undo the wrong.
I’ve loved painters, artists who weren’t particularly nice individuals but I can still admire their work. Things are so much more complex than merely cancelling someone.
I hope moving forward people will endeavour to be kind and tolerant.

Saying he's "controversial" is minimizing a lot of his behaviour. Being a racist is not controversial, it's just being a racist. I don't care about the current drama, I stopped following beauty drama after the last dramageddon but it's undeniable that he's said some cruel things and has shown zero sign of changing his ways. Love it. So much. This is the palette Ive been waiting for all my life for, I only ever wore greys when younger (even after I grew out of the goth phase) and its still my fave colour to use now at age 52. And it now matches my somewhat silver hair which is a bonus. This look is so beautiful (as are you) x
I also say on nearly a daily basis how glad I am social media did not exist when I was younger - the stress it puts the young under these days is ridiculous. I really REALLY appreciate the luxury of growning up and making my mistakes without the internet seeing all. The fakery is also shocking, depressing even, and its lovely to find genuine people like yourself, wee gems among the crud.
Appreciate all the comments about not supporting the brand and why. I ignore as much drama as I can, Im not into that so not entirely certain whats been done/said, it IS all about the make up for me. I can absolutely see how supporting problematic creators is promoting them so maybe I will look and see what the issues are if I want to purchase anything in the future, and make an informed decision. I do love the J* products I own though (all of 3 items coz man they are pricey) cant deny the quality.

If you dont want to support J* but like the look of the palette then theres that fab little technic palette linked by Missa AND get to aldi in UK this week for a really similar toned palette to Cremated thats looks like a dupe of one of the original Urban decay naked ones (was it called smoke?) that I may well have bought had I not got Cremated. And to be honest I still might ha!

Hey Missa. I’m so glad that you spoke out in the beginning. Everyone and I mean everyone, has done or said something bad in they’re past. It’s just whether they learn from it or not. I am 52 and have treatment resistant depression and chronic migraines and pain and anxiety. I stay in bed most days all day. I hadn’t worn makeup in eons and one day a couple of years ago I started watching RUclips and for some reason searching beauty channels and Jeffree popped up. I was completely pulled in. I still follow him on every platform and I’ve bought every launch since Blood Sugar including concealer and powder, glosses, lipstick etc. I find myself in a bit of inner turmoil though because of recent things he has said even though he has apologized before, I feel like it was all just for show now. But am I still following him? Yes? Did I buy the Cremated palette that’s arriving today? Yes Am I feeling bad about it? I kinda am but I guess I’m just waiting to see what happens next and if he can redeem himself in some way. But I absolutely adore you and will always support you as best I can. As I’ve said before you are one of THE MOST talented people I watch and I watch A LOT!! This look is absolutely stunning as always 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🥰🥰🥰and can’t wait to hear the reaction from the grocery store visit!!! You just keep doing YOU cause I’m here for it always!!
But the problem with jeffree is that he still shows time and time again that he has not grown from his past. I would def. Be all for supporting jeffree cosmetics if he genuinely showed that he has changed because his products are good (I'll give him that) but he continues to display questionable behavior bts that makes you wonder.... ijs🤷🏽♀️, love all your eye looks btw your extremely talented!🖤

We are here to learn and grow we are here to mess up royally so that we can learn a lesson and move forward and be better because of it! Hey Missa this is my favourite look I’ve seen done with this palette! The colour story is okay, I do think some of the shades are too similar but those shimmers are something special! It was the best part of the blood lust palette too. This is by far the most inspired look I’ve seen someone come up with though, you’re amazing 💜
I'm black I don't know if I forgive Jeffree Star for what he did but good eyeshadow is good eyeshadow if I didn't buy anything because the owners of brands did racist things I wouldn't own anything

This is the thing. I can honestly say that I LOVE Jeffree's products. They are good, really good - you can't fault him there. So by not buying his stuff am I kinda "cutting off my nose to spite my face"? That phrase may be strong as he's clearly not the only brand out there but I find HIS brand appealing. It's messed up!

This is a man who called Jackie Aina a gorilla last summer, this is a man who said he wants to pour battery acid on black women. This man is a racist. Every time he gets caught he says sorry and then we’re told he’s changed and we should forgive (mostly by the non blacks). To deny he is a racist just because you like him is part of the problem. He regularly uses racial slurs against minorities and whilst I appreciate you may not be aware. To deny he does it just because you don’t know, is part of the problem. He also is just an extremely toxic individual. You’d assume as a gay man, a group often marginalised, he’d be mindful not to do the same. I’m not attacking you, I hope this doesn’t come across that way. But we live in a moment where things are changing and every racist needs to be called out! It’s not ok! It never was! Be on the right side of equality and social justice don’t look back in years with regret over such a serious issue and your stance just because ‘ you like him’. As a black persons it breaks me that people can say to my face I like j*. All I hear is ‘i like the racist’ it actually painful to know good people are prepared to ignore his behaviour toward others because they like him and it doesn’t affect them

I'm actually impressed that you disclaimed your continued support for J*. Regardless of what is exposed or repeated behaviors, the fact that you can openly and honestly say that you're still going to support him takes a lot of guts imho. I always feel that actions speak louder than words. I think most of us have done "crappy" things. It's all about how you grow from that. I dont like JS as a person. He does have a great eye for makeup and it's more that just him. JS cosmetics is a big brand and employs a lot of people too.

Question. If I hit you, then apologize, then hit you again, then apologize, then hit you AGAIN...are you going to keep believing I'm sorry and don't mean to keep hitting you? No. He manipulates continuously. He is racist continuously. He is not sorry. A truly sorry, changed person would not keep doing the same thing over and over again.

I can’t bring myself to buy anything from his brand despite the fact I like the look of some of the products he has made! I don’t judge people but I feel that if you make mistakes and apologise for them it should mean you have learnt from them and he has shown he hasn’t and I can’t give my money to someone’s brand who displays such behaviour. Disappointing. You're recognising and acknowleding Jeffree's problems yet you continue to use his makeup. This is not a case of separating the art from the artist. This is not a Brand x Jeffree collab. This is HIS brand. This is HIS work. This isn't something you can separate him from. Time and time again Jeffree proves that he has not changed. By using his makeup you are adding to the echo chamber of voices telling him that he doesn't have to change.
Your past behaviour should not be your justification for condoning Jeffree's behaviour - it should be informing you as to why that behaviour is not okay and why it is not okay to support him. You say you've done terrible things too - then you should know what the consequence of terrible behaviour should be. Presumably you apologised, took accountability for your actions and proceeded to do better and not make the same mistakes again. So why shouldn't Jeffree be held accountable when he has repeatedly hurt people in spite of apologising for his behaviour? Day by day more information comes out regarding Jeffree's past - past actions that he hasn't apologised for because he assumed it was buried and he wouldn't be held accountable. By saying "I don't judge people because I've done terrible stuff too" (paraphrasing here) all it shows is that you're at peace with Jeffree not growing or being held accountable.
When you say "I'm in no position to be like, 'It's okay he apologised', but" you immediately contradict yourself. There should be no but. You don't get to, in the same breath, recognise his apology is not yours to accept and then explain why you're accepting it anyway. If his apology is not yours to accept, do not allow his apology to permit your continued use of his cosmetics. You know his repeated behaviour is bad, you know it's unacceptable and you know it is not your place to accept his apology. So why are you condoning it by putting money in his pocket and giving his brand exposure? Put his makeup down, don't give him the exposure he wants, learn from the people that his actions have hurt and do better as an influencer.

I commented on Missa’s Fenty video before this asking if she was still going to support J* after recent events show he hasn’t changed. I said it’s contradictory to show support for BLM one minute on her channel and then continue to use his brand. She said she was happy to continue using his make up. She quotes everything I said in the comment saying she gets so many angry messages about supporting J* like shouldn’t racism be a topic people are angry about??? These influencers act like extensive racism is a minor mistake that can be overlooked it’s disgusting. By continuing to support J* she is complicit to his racism. Her BLM video = performative activism. Black lives clearly don’t matter that much to her otherwise she would stop supporting a racists brand and not make excuses for his racist behaviour whilst giving him a platform?! I really wish everyone that is so quick to call out/judge others or quick to cancel people would do the same.. To look in to their past and make sure that they never once did anything embarrassing, immature, questionable, hurtful, incriminating, anything that they wouldn’t want coming out for all to see or hear before they start to judge others.. Thanks Missa...I agree with you 100%. If we cancelled everyone who has done terrible things (and continues to do so) there would be scarcely anyone left for us to follow. I find people want to keep harping on things so it will not die. I doubt anyone can say they are “sin” free and if they say they are they are lying. Whatever happened to compassion and forgiveness? I appreciate your disclaimer at the beginning. I think all the tension has been building up over the last few months, starting with the podcast interview when Jeffree made comments and “talked tea” about what happened last year. Honestly I think it was brought up because he’s jealous of James’ comeback but it’s definitely a mixture of things. Then Tati referenced the drama on her IG and Twitter as she announced her break from posting, and then Shane posted his parting from the beauty world the day after the collection was restocked and sold out. He literally never posted a video, just profited off the collaboration thanks to the long-form vlogs he marketed as a documentary series. Shane’s “apology” was a shining example of how insincere Shane and Jeffree are as people and influencers. This behavior, the bullying in particular, has made it easier for others, including myself, to no longer separate the products from the person. Hell, the brand is literally his name. In addition, the racist comments Jeffree has made towards other influencers, specifically women of color such as Shayla and Jackie Aina, have resurfaced because of the BLM movement, which is another element of this drama that we should factor into the discussion. I really love your artistry and your passion for the content you produce, and I respect that you like his products. But, unlike you, Jeffree has not and will not own up to his problematic behavior and comments because, for him, he continues to handle the fallout by blackmailing and attacking others so he’ll continue to face backlash until, if ever, he becomes sincere and apologizes for real

100% agree with you Melissa. I have had friends literally delete me without a word because I posted a picture of Cremated. It's EYESHADOW. I have no interest in RUclipsr drama, most CEOs are shady AF, and I mean everyday things like food and clothing that we ALL buy from. I will never judge my friends where they want to spend their money, even if it is a brand I do not use for my own personal reasons. At the end of the day, unless you know someone personally and are physically present for when ''drama'' went down, people should not be so extreme in judging.
Buying a product doesn't mean I love the CEO, it means I enjoy the product. Boycotting or not boycotting is an individual's CHOICE. And no one should shade any one for that, same goes for what we eat. JSC has employees that need to pay their bills, so buying from him also supports those people too. I think people forget that.
Personally I'm at a point where I am over J* and won't be supporting his brand/products any longer, but I will continue to support my favourite creators by watching the content they make even if it's using his products. Supporting small creators is more important to me and I will continue to enjoy the content even if I have zero interest in buying the products myself.

I am buying JSC creameated palette regardless of both positive or negative reviews. He's controversial, and different. His makeup is excellent quality for his pricings. So yeah. I will continue to buy his eyeshadows. No one is perfect. We ALL do dumb sh*t or say dumb things. Ppl on the internet HAVE NO RIGHT to cancel or boycott anyone or any brand. Melissa is right. Who is to Judge on anything or anyone. NOBODY! If anyone starts to say sh*t or any cancel culture on the internet, they are not as good as anyone/any brand they are talking negatively about. 🙌
I have to say the recent revelations regarding JS and his relationship with Dahvie Vanity have tipped me into not supporting him anymore. Chiefly because I think his actions or inactions could be criminal and may have directly and indirectly caused harm to children. I expect the police are looking at the allegations and hopefully will proceed appropriately with anyone involved and if JS is proven innocent, then maybe I’ll rethink but It was really the straw that broke the camel’s back for me and I had to draw a line.
I can however totally understand people like yourself who are able to separate the brand owner from the products and can review a product just on its own merit. You review make up and you certainly won’t get any grief from me about you doing your job. You’re an artist and not a drama channel at the end of the day! I gave you a thumbs up because I am judging your look and video and not the brand owner of the palette you are using so it’s kind of similar I guess. I wish he had matured and improved as a person because he’s charismatic and charming and I used to really enjoy his videos but I just can’t even look at him anymore.

I'm at a 50/50 on what you said in the beginning. To support his brand is also supporting him. To sit there and know what he has done and what he has said and to still buy his product doesn't sit right with me by people. That is what many POC including me be talking about how people know what he does and what he says but continue to buy his products is just problematic and also it is in a way of letting him know and anyone else who is like him that it is ok because you guys are still wanting to buy his products. I cant watch this video because I simply dont support him nor like him anymore. My best friend bought me his palette in the beginning of this year and it sucks because I dont want to use it. But hey that is your choice if you want to support someone like him still. I wont waste my time watching this video but you are still a very talented artist. Dont take this comment the wrong way but this is just a no for me
i agree! he continues to release content knowing his consumers will take whatever he puts out. i've done bad things too that people to this day don't forgive me for, but never something extreme where i seem dangerous to others.

I think they say synthetic brushes are better for creams because they absorb less of the product and natural better for powders because they can hold more of the product (something like that)
