Hi Heini, I see this video is already about 4 years old. Do you still sustain everything you say? Being Austin cheaper and now also a well-known ecosystem, would you now better move there? Is it better anywhere in the US than in Europe? As you said, SV is expensive. Would you wait to generate some returns in Europe to finance your settlement in SV? I know, a lot of questions, sorry, but if you could answer them all, you would be extremely helpful.

Thanks a very good question and hard to answer without knowing a bit more. A LOT has happened especially with Covid. Here is the short version, there is no change in Silicon Valley being the king of tech, there is no real challenge there. That doesn't mean you should be there and I don't think you should be there unless you are well funded, it is still crazy expensive. For the early stages of a startup I firmly believe that is better to be in one of the wonderful smaller cities in the US, Europe and the World. There are a lot of good ecosystems around the world.

Great video Heini. I've been following your work since I saw your video on Amazon.
What's your view on moving to the US but not Silicon Valley, i.e Austin, TX? I read lots of companies are moving out of Cali/Bay Area now and tech hubs are popping up in Tx, Co, etc? We're a UK B2B SaaS startup but we know our particular space is 10-15x bigger in the US market so we are seriously exploring US launch.

Thanks, I think a lot of things are going to change post Covid and really remains to be seen. However, if you have to be in the US and it doesn't have to be Silicon Valley you should look outside Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley is just crazy expensive. If you're in Europe I would look at the East Coast as the time difference is much more friendly.

@@RawStartup Thanks for the speedy reply. We're still trying to work out if we 'need' to be in the US but we know the market is massive and we align with your sentiment of 'being in the US to conquer the US'. We're considering Texas and RTP areas at the moment so 6-5 hours difference respectively. Who knows what a post-Covid world will be like!? Keep up the great videos, very helpful

Thank you for the video. How much money did you spend for initial 6 months when relocated?

I was the only one who relocated and then I built the team here. Do you mean my relocation cost?

Really hard to say, but I would say a few $10k and then all your costs are much higher after the move too, that all depends on where you are moving from.

Heini, Could you please make a video explaining equity for first employees and advisors. I look up to you! If you are in Oakland / SF it would be amazing if I can meet you so I can peek your brain. I'll buy you a glass of wine 🍷 :)
