Fear of the light it's soon going to cyperhipster
peruface
Don't you dare give anyone ideas. 😠
yup
Fear of the light same
This is how prosthetics should look like instead of the uncany poorly imitates of real limbs.
Indeed. It's the choice between "weird-looking arm" and "cool robot arm". And that outside perception makes one hell of a difference to the ones wearing them.
I agree, but these kind of arms cost way more.
I have a "realistic" myoelectric arm that cost the state between $4k to $8k (Great healthcare here, the state payed it all themselves). While one of these could cost up to around $20k, which you most likely would have to pay out of your own pocket.
I can not even find a reason why good looking prosthetics need to be more or that much more expensive. It is a shame if this is just a buiseness decision.
in my opinion the imitation hand looks more out of place than the robotic styled one.
30k the cheapest and for the bebionic arms in this vid, which is pretty silly but companies like open bionic are creating cheaper and more efficient bionic arms that can cost around 600 dollars since they can be 3d printed.
I’ve wearing a microprocessor control s foot for about 4 years and can definitely say that it is much easier to accept a leg made of carbon than a prosthetics wrapped in artificial skin!
I'm not an amputee, but I too also believe that a bionic that looks very clearly robotic/mechanical look way better than a prosthetic that tries to look "real." Helps avoid that creepy Uncanny Valley feel with artificial skin.
@@TheSteam02 The fake "realistic" hand is actually creepy. The robotic is honest, and very cool.
apart from all the shit that happens nowadays, I think it's a great time to be alive. Technology evolves faster and faster every decade. There are even more advanced prothetics out there yet though.
Yep, better than the meat and bone ones.
Nicolaii Cordovicz We have way less poverty than any other point in history too! We just talk more about our problems.
There’s less “shit” nowadays as well you know? People (especially media) just statistically complain more now than they did before.
i don't we have arms with a sense of feel as long as they don't go and i quote myself "i'm fine with it as long as it doesn't go skynet on my ass"
@Venturing into the Brine more people died generally before
Oh, I forgot to charge my arm, I guess I will have to do everything with one hand today...
Kevin Kristensen on the go battery pack like we use for our phones now, no biggie.
Kevin Kristensen then women would have a room filled with 'pretty' hands arms and legs.
Then if she asks for an I pad just say 'but Ipaid for all the other shit!'
“Mom!”
“Yes sweetie?”
“I can’t find my hand...”
“Check under the couch.”
“Ok.. oh! Found it, thanks!”
6:30 Yes, we should.
Eh no we shouldn't. Do you want people walking around with potential weapons hidden inside their hand? A wine opener inside your hand could be used to stab you then your tone would soon change. Would perfectly healthy people start wanting to get their arms removed because they are now at a disadvantage? Think about the possible problems this could create in society. Thankfully there are smarter people than us working on this who realise it.
you can't ban progress
LXVIS Nice sarcasm....
The first time a caveman picked up a rock he had a choice, make flour from grains or smash the head of your rival. This is what we do, we make ourselves better through technology, this is just an another step. We will overcome our biological limits, as individuals and as a species.
+Pjlskdhgsl Dsldkfjsldhg
Same thing with nuclear technology. Man has the choice to use their knowledge for the good, or to use their knowledge to destroy their enemies
That bionic hand is a thing of beauty. It really is. I like the extra detail of putting the appearance of fingernails where they would be on an organic hand. Not all bionic hands have that detail so when i see it done, I appreciate that extra something the designers put in.
She could even put press-on nails on her bionic hand if she wanted to match the press-on nails on her organic hand. ✋🤚🏻
Am I the only one here who would want a prosthetic hand that looks like the one Venom snake has in MGSV?
i thought the exact same thing my guy lmao
Ronald Macdonald hahahaha woah I just playing Phantom Pain about an hour ago , an arm like that with upgrades would be amazing
Deus ex
only reason im going to biomedical engineer college
That is the only reason you need
if we get to the point where deus ex tech is real im getting an augmented arm
you and me both friend. replacing my right arm since im left handed
You're an idiot, lol xD
I'm sure it will happen in our lifetime
Jeremy Pooran it's going to be the new tattoo. everyone's would wanna get them
is more likely Ghost in the Shell.
With all the agony, sense of loss and possibly grief and sorrow I am, and am sure many of us do, extremely happy and excited for these guys finding aid and attendance in their lives' situations. It is so good that technologies nowadays allow specialists to do enough research and study of human special needs and finally produce such functional and technically advanced prosthetics! Wonderful!👍👍👍
i feel like a real hand has a lot less lag
That might be solved by the direct brain control ones they are working on.
that is a very complicated surgery
yes now, but in 10 years it will be easier.
SketrickTV we will have to wait and see i just hope never to have a need for one
tim bum we'd have advanced medical stuff so the only reason you would have one is for you
this is the type of technology that makes me feel like we might make it as a species.
Sevier Khan The Hermit King just not the same as we are now
Haight the Great until we burn to death with global warming
Do you still think we might make it as a species
@@dailyyy5979 the jury is still out.
In that case, I'd like to replace all my bones with carbon fibre.
The only downside would be death.
peruface no I just want my bones replaced with carbon just carbon
peruface your bones produce most of your blood cells. you would die.
i want to have something like robotic skeleton but i know that's imbossible((
Impossible? They made a bionic arm. I don't doubt if they can make a bionic skeleton.
"... should we?" YES , YES YOU SHOULD
With proper funding years ago, prosthetics could of been Star Wars equivalent by now
I want cybernetic augmentations, like bionic legs!
Bionic legs work way better than arms.
I personally want neural implants. Imagine having a flash drive for memory, you'd never forget ANYTHING unless you want to.
I'm waiting 10-20 years or atleast once prosthetics become 10+ times better than their fleshy counterparts. I Will definitely replace my body with parts infinitely better without a second whim.
Alex Eddy I want a tail and a ton of extra arms
+Pielover1617 I hate you google
._.what
a tail.....a cat one?
if it was dragon skeleton spike it be cool
I just keep thinking of Fullmetal Alchemist...
I want one
The only reason I came to this video
Honestly same XD
Can you imagine the attention you'd get? If I saw someone with one of this I'd definitely go out of my way to say how cool it is.
Honestly, for the most part (at least for me) it's very annoying when a random stranger just comes up to you and starts talking about your arm.
"In 5 to 10 years we won't have robotic hands we'll just make new organic ones"
"The question isn't whether we could, it's whether we SHOULD make something better than a human hand"
Man, that guy really sucks
I agree with him.
Imagine that someone gets an arm that has human strength x3. Now imagine that he/she accidentally (or not) could crush a person or animal you love to death because of that arm. So, should people really have that power in their hands (literally)?
Yes
The answer to this is obviously both teaching people to use the stuff you give them so they don't do shit like that accidentally(seriously what world do you live in where this wouldn't happen) as well as a sweet ass arms race(pun not intended) to build us all better bodies that won't crumble in a stiff breeze
You're obviously naive for thinking you could just try to teach people a certain behavior. Did you know about every 25th person has psychopathic tendencies? I would never give super powers to such a person... Also, many people can start out good but end up bad. Learning by teaching doesn't actually get as successful as we would like.
Totally agree with that race though, lol.
Well, it's a valid point. If we're able to grow normal hands, why bother with something such as bionics?
I agree with you, IfYouMetAWolf. You can't just hand out power like that. It's an accident waiting to happen.
Tbh I don't mind walking around with half robot people around me or robots around i feel it is necessary for it to happen. But I'm bit a scared about the idea that we are going to have human looking robots walking around. I agree with the girl at beginning it's much better if it's upfront and I know you have a robot arm or I know you're a robot.
My concern is if there are tiers of prosthetics, where the best are reserved for the wealthy, or if only the wealthy can afford to transform themselves in this way. It would make them even more overpowered compared to the average populace.
Zamboro that's very scary to think about never actually thought of that haha. I don't know why the Rich always exploit whenever they can. Let me re phrase that people always seem to exploit whenever they can.
+Zamboro
Unless we come to a point where people actively remove limbs to replace them with superior bionics that won't happen.
1) As technology advances prices will go down. This arm is around € 9.000 (according to a site I found, didn't do extensive research), which is not THAT much. Earlier models cost 100k+, yeah with those prices its only for the rich. Now its the price of a nice second hand car.
2) Don't see how it makes them OP compared to the average joe, unless you've got pictures of armies of terminators or Jaegers walking the streets on your mind. The power of the wealthy isn't through force or anything physical like that. So I fail to see the inmense edge it would offer them. Only as a prestige object maybe, like how nowadays they drive Ferrari's and you a Peugot or something. If you think about it, it doesn't do much other than shout "look this was expensive". Sticking to the speed limit, you get there just as fast.
3) Adding to 2, unless people actively replace limbs with cybernetic gadgets most people still have 2 arms and 2 legs. No distinct advantage is to be gained by being able to afford a bionic hand that perfectly resembles a human hand if you've got both hands.
+Alika Kobiashvili
In the Western world we're pretty much at the minimum amount of exploitation by the rich in history. No more peasants butchered by feudal lords, no megafactory owners working their people to death, no slaves and so on. There's unions, PR, socialist laws etc. There will always be the privileged few but the gap is hugely eroded
+Alika Kobiashvili
They sexually identify as a human
just awesome guys, excellent work !!!
Boss! I knew you were alive!
Took me long enough to find a metal gear reference.
7:27 Next level water bottle flipping.
"The question is should we?"
Bull shit, we absolutely should! Liberate the body from it's default settings! The only way to go us up!
@Chiafade now Legs that can jump 20 feet would also be capable of killing a person with a kick.
She never asked for this.
Haha
Lol
Venser true but seems happy with it.
@@Mr.Trezona Its a reference
Venser so lucky I dream every day to have 2 hands .. happy for her
Even before the awesome prosthetic arm she had her own way of living and with a good attitude. Very glad for her.
The future is so interesting. The human race is evolving man.
Kaz, I'm already a demon.
alenisdone Why are we still here? Just to suffer?
@@shookpilled7860 every night , I can feel my leg
This is seriously something I’m interested in that is epic I like this
born without a hand? I thought they only gave these sort of things to kids who had their arms gnawed off by ill tempered sea bass...
Alright Rowan, back in your box now
buen dia, me gustaria saber donde puedo conseguir todos los materiales para hacer una mano robotica como la del video, gracias
Seems to work well and it looks cool too
ROCKET PUNCH!!!!
Sweaty Crackz Why are we still here? Just to suffer?
"The question is not *can* we do a hand that is better than a human one, but *should* we do one?" Best quote ever
in school we had a lecture from someone who used to work there and he brought this version in with him. He also had a different myelectric one that was set up for demonstration (space for your hand to go) that we got to try out. It was strange to see it move when moving your hand like she did in the video, like kinda eerie lol. Also, the reason these are so uncommon is because of the cost, ~$500,000
I am proud of this wonderful great achievement
I think if we could connect nerves to circuits to control the limbs and have synthetic myofibrils to connect the prosthetic to the recipient's actual limb, we could have adjustable, low cost, long term prosthetics that have reduced weight (as the upper arm takes over some of the prosthetic's functions) and more room for more powerful components without increasing size.
Does it have a vibrating function?
Hoerkelis Dude... can you shut up, cause it's sad that instead if appreciating you are commenting at such low standard.
its a funny comment shut up xD
Lafeo 007, your comment was the only one I've ever disliked on RUclips.
Afqwa: Just ask Edward Scissorhands :p
yes it does. smell my finger!! :D hahaaa
An endlessly spinning bionic hand would take picking your nose to a whole new level
Amazing!
Good Works
The damage output is gonna be insane in a few years once the arm becomes more advanced.
I’m born with one hand I could only DREAM to have 2 hands this is amazing
awesome!
7:22 I like this mans sense of humor
Impressive innovation.
Kaz, I need this ASSP.
Sugahara Kenichiro Haha!
I ASKED FOR THIS.
Excellent, but advances have already allowed nuero interfaced technology where the bionics are now controlled by thought.
> "I didn't choose how it look"
> "I've never asked for this"
We are now one step ahead from creating a real life Darth Vader (minus the force powers)
There are new prosthetics that can simulate the sense of touch to the user.
Technology is AMAZING!
whoah that is the most coolest bionic arm I"ve seen in the youtube, some bionic hands lacks design.
I love her voice.
Who else was watching FMA looked this up and now wants this
Wonderfull tecnology
You could make a human hand with spider claws that draw in and out using different muscles. Or rockets, for military purposes. You could also always ad an iPhone or android displays that can be interchangeable between both.
A couple of issues which will no doubt be solved eventually:
It would be better if it were controlled by the brain. A connection to the motor neurons maybe?
Real hands can move a lot quicker than the ones shown. It should be able to react the way a real arm would. Hopefully someday this will be achieved with an advanced embedded operating system.
yeah, the brain controlled ones are more advanced than this
that is awesome
In my opinion; bionic arms aint shit until you can do delicate procedures with individual fingers, like using a video game controller, or fiddle a pen or whatever idk
Paco that would be nice, but these prostetics are at least better than having no hand
porteal oh of course hahah
i think actually having a sense of touch with them is one of the most important things
Paco the brain controlled ones will be like that in no time.
The latest version now have the ability to provide basic sensations.
The brain controlled ones are better.
Yeah true
Well, basically they are brain controlled.
The sEMG signals used to trig the movements are generated by the muscles contractions, which are caused by motor neurons coming from the brain.
Thomas Herpoel
They are not the same thing as the real mind controlled ones.
Aging Reversed Do you have an example? For me, the fact that the signal is measured directly on the motor cortex doesn't make a fundamental difference in the information you could extract from it. Both technologies have pros and cons.
A combination of the two would be ideal.
I wonder if they could really look into synthetic nerve cluster through out the musculature of the bionic arm.
You should add the word robot into the title so you get more views. Awesome video
6:31 definitely. If you can create a bionic arm that works 100% like a natural arm, but in addition got new functions, why would i want to keep my limited biological arm?
I mean if senses of touch, heat, pain (up to a certain amount), arm movement and fine control are as good as a human arm, so you don't feel any difference, but then also finally are able to move the wrist 360° for a fast screw driving movement or move your fingers 2 times faster, precise and more powerful, i don't see why we shouldn't replace those limited biological limps.
Well, our arms were made by millions of years of evolution. Not having to charge your arm is a big plus. And your arm is, at least for now, much more flexible and useful for a lot of everyday tasks. Also, no technological malfunctions, and your hand can't get hacked into. Getting rid of your perfectly good arm is a bad decision to make, in my opinion. And I would be surprised if they just started handing out extremely strong bionic arms. Humanity is unpredictable, and people could die if a psychopath got his hands on one. To clarify, I'm not against bionics. If you've lost a limb, then sure, get a bionic one! But don't get rid of a perfectly good arm just to get a shiny new bionic one. Plus, fingerprints! You might want to keep those. And good sense of touch! There's another one. And your reactions are much smoother and more natural.
I'm interested in how these protheses operate in terms of expression and intuition.
"Well we could make it like a swiss army knife, and put all sorts of extra gadgets in the fingers. But should we make a hand like that? Should we make a hand better than a human hand?"
Long and short answer: Yes you friggin should.
We should also look at the ethics of such prosthetics!
Just think about it!
What if someone with a prosthetic gave someone the bird? Could they blame the company that made it? These are some deep questions!
Jack Kraken Once they have these to where they're basically metal and wire replacing flesh and bone, the asshole with the bionic hand is an asshole either way.
@ 9:45 the reporter says "to her, it's more than a gadget, but it's not part of her body", however if you go back just a little in the video to 8:49, the lady clearly feels that the hand is part of her body 🤔
Why is this thing so slow? It's wicked, but that reaction time, it seems like they wouldve figured out how to make it faster by now.
Prototypes and testing, my friend
amazing time to be alive
no lie, if we found a way to directly connect muscles to machinery, so I could still have the full speed and power (or hopefully augmented power) of the limb. I would absolutely be willing to give my left forearm if I got a bionic arm that was able to mechanical function the same so I could still play bass. I am good at building things too, so I could make new hand attachments and stuff. that'd be badass.
Your appointment with FEMA should be finalized within the week
I take it, he was agreeable?
S'cool
*Oh yes!*
In the future :should I use the middle sized one or the large one?
would be nice to get full body replacement !!
My brother is now a bilateral BE amputee. Do you have any further information or contacts in the field of bionic hands any charitable organizations or programs your aware of that may be useful. I am opening up a go fund me campaign and a RUclips channel. I'm also producing a video on his be half to let people get more in touch with the cause they're supporting. We are only about 6 weeks out of the hospital and my brother is not adjusting well any information you have on the subject of avionics would be gratefully accepted. I would have emailed but I didn't see a link. Thank you in advance for any information or contacts that you are able to provide on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...ohh by the way thanks for producing the best RUclips channel I've found yet keep on those fringes the newness of the bleeding edge tech and the original nature of your content keeps me coming back for sure. Thanks again.
I could use one of these wow.
> should we do that?
YES
what type of motors exactly at @0:25 ??
How often you must to charge batery?
Put vocal controls and number them, so that (1) could turn the wrist (2) could give thumbs up (3) could give you the finger and so on... having that hand you could put an adapted cpu ( like Jarvice from Ironman) , put some lazers, flamethrowers and a vibrator and so on lol
don't forget a USB and a charger, a cup holder too cause why the fuck not
Minute 4:25, what kind of linear actuator is that?
How easy it is to get that kind of prosthetics ?
How do you wash the robotic hand and can you punch someone with it without breaking it
What is the song in the intro?
Lol that hand can do full rotation, very handy (lol no pun intended until I typed it), no need for a fancy ratchet, just a plain Harbor Freight breaker bar would be just as good. But heck, if you can afford a hand you can afford to pay someone else to fix it for you.
@Aging Reversed
Our brains does not control our hands but the muscles and veins in the arms that will do the work for our hands with specific instructions from tge brain.
Using impulses from those arms is a trying to place a connection again to those impulses lost from a cut hands.
So basically the mind control you were thinking rather has the time lapses and the difficulty and unnatural to master while this one is pretty natural that when its initial installation no necessary adaptation and training is necessary precisely, its just utilizing what the arms once did before the hands were cut😉😎
its scary to lift heavy thing with that the feeling of it might come off
What if it rains? Is it water proof do they give you a small arm poncho I have so many questions
Do these have a battery you have to recharge every day?
Nuts out for Abraham!
9:07 this hand is much better than the one she is having but maybe it is much more costly too
I want to get it tell me the process please
the reaction time would be a huge problem. like unless i can use a game controller with the same reaction time i could not deal without having both of my arms.
The area of prosthetics must rapidly advance with better stronger prosthetics with touch and temperature sensing like normal fleshy limbs, we have the technology i hope they get up with more.
Please help me..how to get this robot hand?
We’re coming close to where bionic limbs will become life-like just like anime. Where you can react and act quickly like Genos from “One Punch Man” for example.
which is better,touch bionic/be bionic ?
Does it have a taser feature tho?
what's the difference between a swiss army hand and a hand that can pick up tools? if the hand can crush a steel pipe than that's different, but I'd still be okay with it. I'm sure I could find a tool that can do that as well. Tools and machines can be scary but it's all in how we use them
I was also born without a right hand. This looks really cool but I don't think I'll pursue getting a prosthetic until I can actually control the thing like a real hand. I've had less advanced ones that you also control with the electrodes like this one and it just feels too limiting, there's basically just on and off, opening or closing, there's no fine control. It feels like having a block of wood strapped to your arm.
How much are you missing if I'm allowed to ask? I was born missing my left hand to just below the wrist.
