Thanks for showing the Brantly power steering kit up close. I think the tie rod behind the cylinder is controlling a metering or "load-sensing" valve which serves the same function as the 4- or 5-port valve on the end of the steering column in a 318/332 etc. It's more of a power-assist steering kit, like the 400 used, than true power steering.
I believe Ford used a power steering setup similar to that on cars, trucks and tractors. It is 'add-on' power steering using the original stock steering box. Very very clever. Art
4 years ago I had a 317 with Honda conversion and it had the Brantley power steering on it too. I had never seen one and assumed it was some home made deal.
Nothing wrong with the Kohler engine as long as your 317 is recent enough to have the K2 Kohler engine variant... but the power steering, the added hydraulics, as well as other things on the 318 make it more desirable for similar money...
Can you please show us how to tighten the mower belt on a John Deere x-730. Only has 4 hours on it and the spring popped off. I had a helluva time getting it back on Thanks
These bearings don’t have grease fittings on em for some stupid reason, I’ve got 3 of the older 39” decks from a 212 & 216 & almost all of these decks need bearings. At one point I started to use my deck to mow & it was way too loud even w ear protection.
I always use the largest oil filter possible. My thought is a little more oil is not going to hurt. There is only a couple filter manufacturers. I will use any of them except the Fram type.
@@Stealth6921 I use the ST3600 if it will fit. If not a ST3614 is the shorter version. Both were $2.99 til the other day went up to 3.99. I stay away from fram for air cooled engines cause the cardboard support in them can breakdown with the hotter air cooled engine oil temps.
Here’s one on amazon i got the same one for my 316 and it works just fine: www.amazon.com/166-0772-Ignition-Replaces-166-0804-166-0648/dp/B07SKFGYP1/ref=asc_df_B07SKFGYP1/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=366289378006&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9710677200840280230&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9006046&hvtargid=pla-793391369175&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=75066162614&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=366289378006&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9710677200840280230&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9006046&hvtargid=pla-793391369175

Interesting video! That 317 appears to be in good shape for its age (like me). LOL
