I highly suggest using java over CPP if you are a backend java developer. I personally have faced this issue in the interviews where they are not allowing me to write code in CPP. They strictly wanted me to solve the DSA problem in java as I was giving the interview for the java developer backend position.

Even if you are interested in Data Science and Machine learning , I would suggest to start your Data structure with C++ and not with python. Python has a lot of inbuilt function and libraries so to make your basics strong it is better not to start with python. I have observed when you tell in the interview that you only know python the interviewer assumes you won't be able to write a simple sorting algorithm but you only know sort() function in python

Firstly if you have coded before in c++ and you liked it ,continue with that because you have a little bit of idea which is very good, if you didn't like it you can try java totally up to you. Second why we need to learn data structure. Because every top product based company ask data structure and algorithm (DSA) in the first few rounds, it simply test your problem solving skills be it for SDE roles or data science ML roles. Third how to start, irrespective of what programming language you are going ahead with. It is good to start with variables, if-else, loops, functions, arrays, oops, linked list, stack, queues, trees, hashmaps,dynamic programming and so on... If you can afford a course it is good if not, no need to worry there are a lot of RUclips channels with curated content available, follow one of them and try to practice as many problems you can from leetcode, hackerrank codechef etc... Do we need to learn DSA in all the language? No, the concept is same only the syntax changes and from interview and cmoany point of view, be it an online test Or an interview most of the times you have the option of choosing what programming language you want to write your code, so learn one language practice DSA in that.
