True it could’ve went on for a full season with her still struggling with the dark powers in the “underworld chapter” half-season but the show’s rating were fast dropping after that Frozen frantic half-season. So show runners had to keep it fresh by rushing story telling.
Merlin winning from Emma was bullshit . Yes he has been a magic practitioner for a long time but Emma had the powers of the savior and the dark one which should make her equal if not better than Merlin
Dark Willow, I mean she just screamed in the face of the god of death and it seemed to actually hurt him. Although, I believe it would be a pretty even fight has both display incredible spacial magic skills and control over the forces of nature.

Dark Swan because she's literally The Dark One. She can put a curse Dark Josie, Tribrid Hope and Dark Willow, alter their memories or trap them in some realm. They're nowhere near as Dark Swan. The better battle would be Dark Swan vs. Scarlet Witch.

Her magic was way better than her savior power. Also it’s like she didn’t even have to try or think she just did. As savior she didn’t know anything.

you should watch the entire series Emma being the dark one will make sense. It's pretty good series never fails on plot points.
