I been in the states for nearly all my life and I’m ready to come back so I’m watching all your videos to get reacquainted with the navigation itself and I’m loving all your videos. The desire to move back is growing like wildflowers
Thank you for sharing about your country. I have been thinking of visiting there, so I have found your video helpful Look forward to going there sometime 😊
Thank you so much for your (apparently - you never know these days) honest videos about Belize. I am retired and currently living in Costa Rica and my lifestyle has been drastically reduced because of the devaluation of the USD compared to the Colone. Also, because Trump was elected president, I will not be moving back to the US for at least 4 more years. There are many things in Costa Rica that make daily life more difficult (the common saying is that "Costa Rica, where we make simple things, difficult"). The issues that you talk about in Belize are the same or worse in Costa Rica. "Slow lifestyle" so that calling the repair man will take days or weeks or never (here it is called Pura Vida) is common in Costa Rica. Another significant difference is that expats here are considered "gringos". That is a derogatory term where locals have a passive-aggressive feeling about non-ticos. Ticos like the money that gringos bring into CR but they resent the economic disparity. This shows up as cashiers being slow or dishonest at local stores. A gringo is always moved to the back of the line for local healthcare. It is very subtle but it is constant. I now know what is like to be a minority in a country and it feels very disrespectful. Of course, there are many kind and respectful people in Costa Rica and I see them every day. But the number of gringo-hating ticos can be overwhelming. Here is an example: I was walking past a beach resort called "Margaritaville" one day and I saw a Tico walk out from his professional position and stand right in front of the path I was walking. He looked at me and saw me walking right toward him. He didn't move. He placed himself right in my walking path. I had to walk around him. That is what he wanted. He wanted to show me that he disrespected me and he asserted his "ticoness" by making the gringo walk around him. I could have punched him in the face to make him move but I knew that I would not have any legal leg to stand on in Costa Rica. As I hope you can see, the prejudice against gringos in Costa Rica is subtle but omnipresent. To anyone thinking of moving to Costa Rica, it will be OK if you have A LOT OF MONEY and have someone local that you can trust. The latter will be the most difficult. It sounds a lot like Belize except there is no devaluation of the dollar. I might be in Belize soon.
Thanks for posting this video, I was thinking about visiting but after seeing this I have decided to go to Merida Mexico instead. The only plus about Belize is it is English speaking and I am Canadian. Merida is a lot more developed and cheaper.
Whatagwan!👋🏾 Thanks for the informative video! 🙏🏽 I just found your channel while doing research on moving to Belize from Canada. Loved your other video too. Didn't know about creole language though, it reminds ne of our Jamaican patois. I'm Jamaican- Canadian 😊🇯🇲🇨🇦
Great video with some great information about Belize!! I'd love to go scuba diving or at least learn how!😊 Oh by the way, what type of camera are you using? It's a very, very good camera!
Just found your video. This is the one of the most informative videos I’ve seen on Belize. I’ve been there once, in 1982, on Ambergris, and San Pedro was just a small town , and it was very rural as I remember. The whole area seems to have over-developed in the last 40 years. I’d love to find someone to talk to about Ambergris from those times. You’ve convinced me that Caye Caulker is the place to be. I’d like to take my whole family now that I’m retiring. Is there a way to contact you, eventually, as my potential realtor? Thank you for continuing the videos.
Hi Rodney, thank you so much for reaching out and leaving a comment. You know, funny you bring up the topic of history, I’m currently working on a video where I’ll showcase old photos of how Caye caulker used to look vs how it looks now and I’ll throw in some fun history. I’d love to sit down with you and make the same type of video for Ambergris Caye! That would be really cool. You can text, call, or WhatsApp me at +1 323 684 7782 or email me at gisellebze@gmail.com. When speaking on prices you mentioned belize dollars only when referring to drinks... on meals you stated i think, $25 to $40... would that be US dollars or belize ? Great video !!!
Enjoyed your video! Going to Belize in few weeks, we are debating whether to rent a car when exploring the inland areas such as San Ignacio for 4 days or use shuttles/cabs, any advice would be appreciated, Thanks!

What do you mean when you say Belize has the largest living Great Barrier Reef? Perhaps it was a typo but you said exactly the same thing, “while Australia has the largest living Great Barrier Reef, Belize has the largest living Great Barrier Reef…” This makes no sense at all and I’m sure it was a typo/mistake. What you meant to say is probably while Australia has the largest “Great Barrier Reef”, Belize is part of mesoamerican reef and has the largest Barrier Reef in northern hemisphere. Is that what you meant? By the way that water looks so good, what camera did you use that underwater footage came out so clear? P.S. Loved all the tips and advice on what to expect in Belize.

You should do a video on Belize chicken tacos! 2 for a dolla.
Do traffic drives on the left of the road - as in UK?
We drive on the right side here in Belize :)
I assume the $15.00 for a meal is in Belize dollars. If it’s in US dollars then yes that’s a bit on the expensive side.

Where is your bar? I’m in Belize at least one week every year. Usually in Caye Caulker. I’d like to have some drinks at your spot!
Hi Michael, I actually don’t run the bar anymore, but it’s located on the beach in between the two water taxis. It’s also located on google maps

Where's your restaurant located
Caye Caulker island? You are very close to me. Okay.
Oh cool! Where you at?
What about the East Indians? I’m East Indian from Belize
I said Indian, but I should have specified and said East Indian :)
Actually you said “West Indians” in Belizean History we don’t have West Indians living in Belize. And East Indians mainly reside in PG.
My family on my mom's side is from Belize. My aunt-in-law if from there too, and she's half East Indian 🙂
