You were still #4 in the country. Of the 7 teams to win it all in the SEC's reign of dominance, only two teams were undefeated. And you still got another shot to beat LSU in the SEC Championship Game. I'd say that with a third of the season left to play, the #4 team is very much alive for the national championship
This game is so much like This years game. Georgia coming in 6-1 Florida is 4-3, Florida starting true Freshman at Quarterback. It wasn't until the 4th game of the Season Freshman took over.
There's nothing more intimidating than the Red & Blue sides of the stadium in Jacksonville, FL each year. Between the Iron Bowl & the World's Largest Cocktail Party, I don't know which SEC rivalry is the most intense one with so much hatred between each of the two fan-bases. A rivalry that has to deal with a Heisman winner coach (Spurrier) who comes back years later to beat up UGA all the time. I don't know if there's any other rivalry in college football that's so heated up as Florida-Georgia!
Haha, gotta love your description, actually, LSU already ruined our national title dreams 17-10 in death valley before this game. Many 1 loss teams in the BCS era ended up going to the national championship game afterwards. The 2002 UGA team didn't get the help from the BCS polls as Miami & Ohio State remained undefeated, but the 2003 LSU team had their only loss to an 8-5 Florida team too & still got in the national title game. The 4 team playoff coming in 2014 will fix things up though.
