I have been watching videos on Gorillas for months now but only came across yours an hour ago. I love them! You are so detailed and show the greatest things. I especially appreciate your notes throughout the videos so we can know what is going on. Very lovely. I subscribed immediately!
You would think with all of the little bites, she would at least keep him at arm's length...lol! Is she a first-time Mom? Is that why she's so protective? There are so many babies and Mothers, I get everyone confused!
She is a first time mom. But he's allowed to interact with the other baby gorillas. Only not for about 15 - 20 minutes this day. Only when a bigger gorilla comes close to him, she takes him away. But he's allowed to play with the gorillas who are under 2 years old ;-) And recently I've seen him play with both Nukta (16 months) and Nakou (4.5 years). Maybhe something happened what made her so overprotective for a while. I didn't see anything, but I only have 2 eyes. When I'm in Burgers I need more LOL
Well yeah that remark kinda came out wrong didn't it? lol. I meant to say I wonder what a mom who would take that as a need to teach a lesson about biting to would react in that situation....
niikkeeakj . . . but biting is a natural thing for Gorillas, according to some of the things I've read. They do it from an early age. What we call biting is just play to them. It's the same type of play as puppies who bite and play with each other.

Maybe little Madiba was on a timeout for not listening to Mom...
WOW, he puts up quite a struggle for such a little guy. I wonder what an aggressive mom would do about the biting......
niikkeeakj I don't think there are aggressive moms ;-)

niikkeeakj I've seen moms biting back, carefully. And then the kid stopped doing that (at least for a while)
