- I'm taking Saphir Odoriko from Tokyo to Atami and trying the private compartment which is extremely hard to book. The train is operated by JR East.

13:06 The rare STJ voice makes an appearance, haha.
I was so shocked haha. I think that might've been the first time I heard his voice
Mysterious substance @ 2:44 looks to be hummus, with a bit of olive oil. Other mysterious substance @ 3:00 looks to be some kind of salad with quinoa and corn and....seaweed, maybe?
Hummus and coos coos
I agree. Houmous may have sundried tomatoes or tumeric added.
I think this train is too high tech for me. I only have a minor in Japanese, and I can't understand the announcements. I wouldn't know how to book a restaurant reservation on this train. How would none Japanese speakers access the trains facilities. On a "normal" train, youd just walk to the buffet car when you want, and buy what you want. Why make life so totalitarian and confusing?
I think it was hummus too. For your edification, STJ, hummus is made with chickpeas, olive oil, and tahini. So you were sort of correct in your guess that it might be beans. As for the corn mixture, I vote with those who are guessing quinoa. The smoked salmon looked very tasty. You had an excellent breakfast, especially for the price!
The salad looks to have quinoa, corn, chickpeas, seaweed, and some sort of black bean
The side dish with corn looked like it might be quinoa. It's a small grain sort of like millet or a very round, small brown rice.
I was thinking the same thing
the other one looks like it's hummus
It's quinoa
It would be good to have a train that circles the whole of Japan, and you can keep the cabin for the whole journey. The seats could become a bed. There would need to be a shower.
Yippee! A new video!!❤️👍🏻
your compartment looked like a cozy private library. I love libraries! And the view of the Bay was gorgeous. But I don't know if I would pay $100 for an hour train ride. But, if I did, I'd DEF take a nice, long soak in an onsen before going back to Tokyo. Cheers for having way more willpower than I possess.
If you love libraries, look up the Signet library in Edenborough, just watched an afternoon tea there
@@Motherhubbard170 I'd love to! from the US & I ADORE tea! Yorkshire Gold, hojicha, matcha, Assam, & Tieguanyin are my faves. I like coffee, but tea is more uplifting. Add in tasty little bites, cream teas, dim sum or sushi, and I'm in heaven.
Well I also think $100 is a bit too much for an hour ride and it doesn't even have any perks worth the fare like complementary food. That aside I really like the coach
Saddest eggs Benedict I've seen...with hummus and quinoa.
right that yoke was over done and odd pairing hummus and a quinoas BEAN salad?
The constant stream of repeating announcements would have driven me bonkers. 😒
I know, especially if you can't understand what is being said.
I have a recommendation for you: Sunflower Ferries. The longer the trip, the better. You're _absolutely_ going to love it... 😂
@@kurofune.uragabaysunflower 🎶🎵🎶, sunflower 🎶🎵🎶
Thanks!
Thanks for the super!
On your plate, I believe I can identify it. The tan colored paste is, hummus (chick pea), I believe. On the other side appears to have been a mixed 'salad' of corn, black beans and couscous. I enjoy your videos. Thank you.
I think it’s quinoa rather than couscous.
@@JBM425 Could be.
egg benedict ...a cultured move, well done!.
The cabin looks really nice ...sadly the ride was too short.
Looks like hummus to the right and quinoa, corn, and black beans on the left at 2:23. Which doesn't really *go* with eggs Benedict....
Yea, that's what I was thinking...Kinda reminds me of that "Chicago deep dish pizza" something was lost in translation....
I had the chance to take this when I happened to be on business travel in Japan before the COVID restrictions were lifted. Amazing experience
That looked like quinoa with vegetables on the left and baba ganoush on the right.
That compartment looked very cozy
Kopi hitam & makanan di pagi hari yang sangat nikmat & lezat ,
Banyak makanan lain yang bisa dinikmati di Kereta yang mewah ❤
I love the tiny vacation you take us on. Thank you greatly
It's always cool to see how much English is a part of Japan and it'd be so cool to visit and have this person show you around
this is probably my american vs. japanese culture gap showing but all i could think when you got into your compartment was “ooo! there’s stuff in those cabinets! go open the cabinets and see what’s inside! what are those expensive bottles in there? is there something inside? go look!” …that’s always my intrusive compulsion in “fancy” situations…to touch the “do not touch” things… maybe it’s more like my repressed inner child showing…🤔😅
Thank you for showing us the different light settings because I genuinely was curious about it lol
Fancy eggs Benedict with Asparagus, but that was the most pale Hollindase sauce I have ever seen on top of it. Usually it is the color of egg yolks because it is made from them. Very strange side dishes to go with eggs bene. Quinoa salad ,hummus and salmon? When in Japan I guess.😘
Noooo. The egg was seriously overcooked on the Benedict. So sad. 😢
Train needs more announcements. 34 announcements not enough.
Hearing the family next door was so cute. ❤
what you think is potato or beans, it seems to be hummus: smashed chickpea with lime, olive oil and tahini. The other stuff looks like quinoa.
"Stylish" but not "!!". Man, even I could be comfortable in there.
Thanks for translate attendant voice👍 helpfully
Expensive coffee, the pudding looks tasty
The compartment was cool.
Blue is my favorite color
Thank you for letting us help with the thumbnail photo 😆
My friend, I would be delighted to travel with you at some point in the future.
For breakfast, looks like hummus and quinoa with corn.
Not entirely sure, but the pile to the right of the eggs benedict looked like it could be either hummus with paprika on top, or possibly very fine ground grits. Grits is a more 'traditional' western breakfast option, but that didn't look like grits at all. The pile to the left looked vaguely like undercooked oatmeal...?
The one on the left looks like quinoa with others things mixed in, corn, seaweed maybe
Looks like hummus on the right and quinoa on the left
hummus was also my first guess, with oil and paprika powder on it
@@darthguilder1923definitely quinoa, with either seaweed or finely cut fungus and corn.
Definitely quinoa and hummus, which is a strange enough combination by itself, live alone the eggs benedict, but that's Japan I suppose!
Also, grits aren't a thing outside of the US... no one eats them but you guys 😅
Lovely breakfast!
Lovely desserts!
I love the 'jingles'!
A beautiful train compartment. Very elegant.
I totally agree with your result at the end. My first thought in the beginning was that the compartment was too much for this short trip for one person. But good for having a meeting on a business trip.
Pushing the SOS button will stop the announcements😂😂😂
I don't do so well with fancy food either , lol , I love homemade home style flood , the train ride looks like a lot of fun , enjoy
Nice train! Slick😉☺️
2:10 voice reveal! nice voice! 😻😻😻😻😻😻
Thanks for all of your videos. My favorite is . I watch it every time I can your day😮trip to mount Fuji
The sounds of Tokyo station is like music to my ears
This was relaxing to watch. Thank you.
17:17 That's a cute angle.
こんにちは!もう一つの素晴らしいビデオ!印象的なキャビン。とてもプライベートで居心地の良い。共有してくれてありがとう。😌🙏✨
Thanks
Thanks for the super thanks!
The egg looked a little over cooked to me. I would like a runny egg for that.
Looked like quinoa and corn on the left.
Great video, wish that I could travel with you when I visit Japan. Thanks for all of your videos.
It looks like it was a comfortable trip. The desserts looked delicious.
I think it was humus with paprika (right) and quinoa salad (left)
wow! you needed a bar tender and Martinis! Maybe a partner/friend.... thank you SoloSan, as ever, a great video!
Okay, fine, I'll go back to Japan and try more trains :) Thanks for sharing!
Nice little experience!! But no curry!!!!
if theres 4 pple it works out to 18.75 USD extra per pax~
Wow! It just needs an ashtray and karaoke machine!!!
Great trip in the express train.
The souflé pudding from Family Mart! I tried it when I was in Japan in November! It's really good isn't it? I also really liked the pumpkin pudding they had. While there we visited Bessho-Onsen, taking the electric local train from Ueda station. It was a nice little hot spring village. They have a super old hexagonal pagoda there.
We also went to a The City Bakery (in Shinagawa) for breakfast but only took baked goods. The cheese danish was great. I'm guessing the salad with corn and wakame on your plate was quinoa.
Corn and sprouting quinoa on the left and hummus on the right
I love the city bakery. It’s expensive, but their pastries are good. I have been to the one in Hakuba at the mountain top in winter and it was so nice.
Thank you.
Great trip, finally you booked this compartment. This room have great privacy suitable for group passengers. But to be fair if i doing solo trip, I prefer the front seat behind Driver cab.
Wish they had volume control in the room; nice but a tad pricey for a short journey but far better value than UK train fares 🥲
The stuff next to eggs Benedict looks like hummus.
I think the food you don’t recognise is some kind of quinoa salad. Nice video. I especially liked seeing the fish painted on the side of the red train on your arrival at Atami.
I think the breakfast is quinoa with shredded nori and sweetcorn. Maybe some homous????
Much fancy much wow
Lovely
Accompanying the Eggs Benedict I think was hummus with paprika sprinkled on it. Hummus is made with chick-peas and garlic. And the other thing was quinoa, as a salad. It's defo not couscous, which is semolina, and therefore doesn't sprout.
Hilarious that you can only use your mobile phone in one carriage, yet you are forced to endure the constant announcements. Hardly a peaceful train ride!
Japan, the land of intrusive jingles
Nice train
Very nice. Thank you. (Thumbnail images are quite important...)
I believe the food to the left of the eggs was probably quinoa. And the stuff to the right was probably hummus. Source: I live in LA and those foods at everywhere here.
You ordered a benedicts royale- comes with salmon. Quinoa and hummus
Looked like Hummus there on the right
Cabin is really good, but it desperately needs better soundproofing. Private cabin is useless if I can hear people next door
Nice but very expensive
I don’t think I need to ever hear the beeper going off again.
Hummus and quinoa.
Breakfast was merely 'Good'. and not '!!'. Kinda says it right there. :-)
Nice!
I think the bit to the left of the eggs Benedict was quinoa, beans and corn. Not sure, though. But the grain did look like quinoa.
i wish i had money
i would go to japan and take every mode of transport solo has
Looks like you had a quinoa salad on the left side of your breakfast plate, and hummus on the right.
Another beautiful and calming journey! Thanks for the video.
What train(s) would you recommend for a daytrip to Izu Shaboten Zoo from Tokyo to Izu? I'd like the travel that route someday and visit the Izu capybaras 😄🤞
i thought the light brown stuff was humus for the salad
It looks nice, but all that noise from the family that turned up later would annoy me. I'd want this to be a nice, quiet and relaxing ride and all the sudden noise would bother me to heck, I'd have to have my headphones on and at that point I might as well have paid for a cheap seat.
So many different compartments on Japanese 🗾 trains and it does make you wonder if the design and building costs far outweigh whatever revenue such things will attract?
"Mille *crape* roll cake" ? Come on, STJ-san, it couldn't have been that bad... 😁
@8:47: we call that in english "feeling self-conscious" 👀 [>
I think quinoa salad and hummus
Or the local train but it takes over an hour
So many announcements 😵💫 How do you relax?
Thank you for the vlog, very interesting. I agree with others that that may have been hummus and the grains quinoa on your breakfast. The desserts looked delicious. Tokyo Station is an absolutely beautiful building, are there apartments in the upper floors ? May I also possibly ask if you are Japanese, or another nationality, just curious ?
Lordy do they ever stop talking on the loudspeaker?????
You could use the bullet train but it takes 45 minutes
What! No beef curry on the menu!?
Breakfast was bulga wheat and humus
When you first went into your compartment and I saw how nice it was, I thought, Wow this is going to be a short ride for you. Just when you start to really enjoy it you will have to get off.
Buck wheat salad to the left, Humous to the right
