    Just a side piece of information! When you use "to hang" as a formed of execution, it becomes a regular verb. "They hanged the criminal by the neck." But it's irregular in any other case. "We hung the curtains in my room."

      +Júlio César Vígaro -- The portuguese translation of the verb "to slink" is "escapulir". A sample sentence could be "They slunk silently across the border" (simple past). www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/slink

    • @feqwix
      @feqwix  8 лет назад

      To obtain an objective measure of the use of a word, I recommend to consult the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA).
      You can query the frequency of a word here: www.wordandphrase.info/frequencyList.asp
      - strive (verb) is #5114
      - cast (verb) is #2046
      These two verbs may not be the most common, but I think that you must certainly know their meaning and how to use them.
      Thanks for the observation!

    Stride, strode, stridden

    • @feqwix
      @feqwix  6 лет назад +1

      The past participle of the verb "to stride" is rarely used; "stridden"
      is the form given by some dictionaries, while others also include the
      form "strode".

      Un verbo es irregular cuando su tiempo pasado no se construye agregando "ed" al final, por lo que hay que aprenderse la conjugación de estos verbos de memoria. El "simple past" se utiliza para acciones pasadas que ya concluyeron, por ej. "yesterday I went to the cinema". El "present perfect", que se utiliza junto con el verbo auxiliar "to have", describe acciones que comenzaron en el pasado y que aún tienen consecuencias en el presente, por ej. "I have gone to the cinema since I was 5" (voy al cine desde que tengo 5 y se supone que aún lo hago) o "I have gone too far to stop" (he ido demasiado lejos como para parar).

  • @AnaB012
    @AnaB012 7 лет назад

    It would be better without "to, I, I have", easier to remember...like just "leap/leapt/leapt".

    Here in Ohio, I was taught learned and spelled.

    • @feqwix
      @feqwix  8 лет назад +1

      Learned is often used in both British English and American English, while learnt is much more common in British English than in American English. There are a number of other verbs which follow the same pattern in forming the past tense and past participle: burned/burnt, dreamed/dreamt, kneeled/knelt, spoiled/spoilt, spelled/spelt. They are all irregular verbs, and this is a part of their irregularity. Source: www.oxforddictionaries.com/words/learnt-vs-learned

    this video is boring. actually very bored

    • @feqwix
      @feqwix  8 лет назад +8

      I will tell you a secret. This video, or any other, is just a combination of pixels; it's a lifeless object lying somewhere in the internet cloud. So, how could a lifeless object be boring by itself? Boredom (or any other psychological state) arises from your way of interacting with something (or someone) else. A more active/creative way of engagement would certainly not result in a boring experience, with this video or anything else you come across. Thanks for your comment!
