I’m loving the explanations! I’m 100% gray and have been using 6NW Brandy for over a year now. I add the gray drops as well. In the last few months I’ve noticed the hair is too red. Then I decided to add a splash of the granite color still too red. I’m wondering what other color I should try not to make it too dark? This is for a natural brunette! Thanks!
of course! The color gels are always used in a 1:1 ration, with the exception of the blonding gels Blue or violet. The blonding gels are liquid hi lift hair colors and are typically mixed with a ratio of 1:2 (one part color and 2 parts developer).
I have a client who has natural 6. No white / grey. She wants and had been using box 10 for awhile. Has a lot of brassy tone compared to her existing lighter hair already ( maybe 8 or 9). I tried to fix her w 9 NA w 9 n w 20 vol for 35 min. Results good but still see a bit brass. Since I’m pulling her up 4 levels ,, I wonder if I should use 40 vol on her ?, would I mitigate the gold tone? Or should I go to the hi lift. I wanted to just do single process. She comes back to me every 5 wks . She just wants to be natural blonde w no bleaching.
Hi, Great video I'm a level 4 base, lightened with blondeme to a level 6 orange, (Highlights) I've got two toners ... O6g eq Redken O6Abn Redken Which one is the nicest in your opinion? ... Thank you.
I'm a natural level 5 my hair I use wella Koleston perfect 12.89 with 40 Vol developer just wondered what the equivalent in the lacquers would be the formula I've never used redken I have less than 25 percent grey thanks
excellent! The closest shade would be redken blondgels they are the high lift series. I would mix equal parts Blonde Gels BL and V to make a similar tone. I dont think the updated version of this has them but there are tons left online.
Vincent, enjoyed this video. Loved seeing the swatches, vs. a flat color chart. Hope you can help with a couple of questions. My hair is (best I can tell), a level 7.5 at roots to mid-length and a 9.5 mid to ends. (Hair has been bleached/colored previously). I want to BLEND these 2 colors and I wondered if Creme Latte would work? My hair tends to pull gold, not so much orange. I want it to be a nice blonde...not too dark/drab. I have maybe 30% grey at roots. Glad you mentioned how best to apply. What developer level would be best? Also suggest a toner if you think I'd need that. Would love to see more videos on Redken color/toners and natural healthy products for hair. Will look at some of your videos on hair conditioners, etc. Thanks in advance for your help! :)
Excellent question! So because of the 30% gray I would use 20vol for gray coverage (45min). Some people use 30vol for extra lift but you run the risk of not covering enough gray (I think you may be fine as long as you process the full 45min). I would formulate with 10N cream late 1 1/2oz and 1/2oz of 10NG. The reason I add the bit of gold is that not only does it aide in gray coverage but it will make the blonde balanced. The reason is because gray hair can easily turn drab when using an N shade. In terms of toning you may not need to tone every time you color but I recommend using redken shades eq clear 1 1/2oz with 1/2oz09G and process for at least 25min no heat needed.
Loved this video, thank you for making it! I have a client that has brassy "boxed" dyed hair, she has thin and somewhat damaged hair, about 25% to 50% grey. She wants me to correct the color to a level 7, with a few lighter highlights. What would you suggest? Thank-you!!!!
Hi! I recently bleached my hair at home using ion crème & 30 dev I got my really Light like just tiny bit has like between platinum white & w a soft tint gold and the rest is like silver/ grey bc I used t18 thinking it would lighten my hair all over, def lighten my roots from orange/yellow to what it is now but the rest of my hair caught more silver/platinum and I do notttt want silver I want a like light honey/golden look more warmth do u think I should use this line ???
Howdy! I sure would recommend this line for someone new!!! Its a great line and it gives solid coverage. It has been discontinued but many salon centrics still sell it. In addition, I recommend coastline education. They offer virtual hair education and do a good job at teaching the science of color. My lines that i use now are Tutto, tom dispenzas chromastics and proritualas.
Is the na cooler than n? I have prob 25% grey & am a natural level 3 so I want to use 20 vol developer but I don’t want it to lift the color & pull warm. I want to be a nice rich chocolate base with little -no hot roots. I was thinking 5na w/20 vol developer. 5 ab? Thoughts?
great question! So yes the NA is much cooler then the N due to the added ash, they have a blueish background color. I think the combo of 1/2oz 5NA and 1 1/2 oz of 5AB and 20vol would be excellent! I'll have a nice shiny look with no warmth. The key is when applying if its just a touch up apply just to your regrowth and the rest of the hair refresh with shades eq. I would also process the full 45min.
Hi there! I’m going to be coloring my own hair. My gray is around the temples and my ears. I have dark brown hair and was thinking of coffee bean? 5NN. Is the gel better than the fusion?
@@nybombay3378 As a Redken trained colorist, I learned that the gels would grab a level darker and more opaque. Fusion is good for grey coverage also especially in the areas you need it. You can always use 5NN fusion on the grey parts and 5N on the other parts.

Very helpful!! Thank you so much!
Yay!!! You are very welcome :)
Very helpful thank you for breaking down each shade
You are welcome! Im hoping it can help hair dressers who use a new line.
Can you tell me if the color gel and the 20 volume Pro oxide are 1 to 1 ratio or 1 oz gel to 2 ounces developer?

@@VincentBalducci Can you use the Violet Kickers for toning? What do you mix with? Shades processing?

Hi,
Great video I'm a level 4 base, lightened with blondeme to a level 6 orange, (Highlights)
I've got two toners ...
O6g eq Redken
O6Abn Redken
Which one is the nicest in your opinion? ...
Thank you.
Hey there Oli, I would say at the level 6 try a mix of the 6g and 6Abn. The Abn alone may be too drab, and the g will help to balance it.
Would mixing 9v in 6GG toner bring it to Natural? Would the violet help to cancel the gold? But not make it too ashy?

my experience Koleston doesn't cover gray
