  • Watch the entire reproduction cycle of an Eurasian Blue Tit as the 57-day spectacular unfolds in a few short minutes. This timelapse footage shows how the tiny bird builds its nest, lays a clutch of eggs, incubates them and then raises chicks until they are fully fledged and ready to leave.
During the Spring breeding season of 2023, we witnessed one of the remarkable wonders of nature as a tiny Blue Tit embarked on a journey to reproduce. The female started by building her nest from lawn moss and feathers. This process took sixteen days, and we saw the first egg arrive shortly after. She laid eight eggs before incubating them for thirteen days when the first egg hatched. After nineteen days, the chicks grew enough until they were ready to leave the nest, where the parent would have spent a few days feeding them outside the nest.

We have a bird box 30 feet from our window. Have been watching them fly back and forth for days. I was busy elsewhere for the afternoon, came back and they were all gone. Thankyou for showing me this. Incredible 😊
