How I learned how to take apart and rebuild a engine was quite literally by doing it.. first I had a ford 3cyl diesel that exploded and didn't want to pay for the repair then my 7.3 powerstroke had low compression in one cylinder and I just learned as I went... I took lots of pictures and videos so I knew how it went back together and also kept all bolts nuts etc organized in cardboard with labels... poke little holes in the cardboard and throw the bolts in them thats the best I can tell you... maybe buy a small engine and take it apart and put it back together and move on from there!!! Have a safe fall buddy
I've done it and I'm not a mechanic. 1) Proper books, lots of reading and RUclips is actually a good secondary resource. 2) Proper tools like torque wrenches, pullers, engine stands, cherry pickers, etc. Some tools can be rented. Machine work is expensive and the parts aren't cheap either. The reward is well worth the time and effort.
Good morning Ben. It's great to see bandit in your videos. We have a female heeler and she is at my side always. Great companion and enough sense to stay out of harms way. Good luck with harvest, be safe.
My wife got 8 pumpkins out of my patch today to set her Halloween display in front of our house I think I will make sure all that the neighbors kids have 1 each. Have a good one!
If you're looking at dryers, don't overlook the GSI top dry/ StorMor ezee dry. We've ran an ezee dry since '83 and it's been very reliable. Plus you get a little more dry storage underneath the drying chamber.
Bandit is such an awesome dog! Ben- it sucks you've had so many little things go wrong. It'll all be okay tho. Hope the remainder of the Harvest season goes smooth from here on out
Could have been worse. I mean I copped a jolt when I tried to push a spark plug lead back on... With the engine running.. I was 9 years old.. It's something no one teaches you... but you ALWAYS remember..
watch your fields moistures the ones with the TAR SPOT... peeps corn was ready before they thought it was.... ;) more than just NATHAN at Border View Farms 2 other peeps had that issue this year too....

I thought you fixed the truck door handle or is that on the to-do list? Have you all considered a different sweep option for the bins? Some of the regular BODYARMOR drinks don't look as bad as peach mango did, my favorite is the Orange Mango.
that is the return line what the injector dont put in the cylinder it has to go some place that in mind that fuel will get sent back to the tank or the injection pump
@@iowANFarmer you get threw harvest and ready to tackle an engine rebuild on something yell at me i would love to help you do so it is really not that hard when you have the book or books and can fall back on for help and do not forget your measuring tools they are a must
at 11-30 your shock you had it was static up to 30000 volts metal picks it up from the air. with nylon rubber tyres the metal is isolated from ground what you did was make a circuit to earth much like a lightening strike in miniature.
My Pa rebuilt CAT D4 engine, if I had do it I don’t think I have the all tools to do it, let lone if it was a modern engine with computers. I understand basics but would have label n bag parts. Lord Muck on RUclips goes through basics of engine rebuild.
The leak off boots that are used on JD engines are junk. Talk to your JD dealer to upgrade to later style with brass tees, short pipes, and rubber grommets
For me it has been replace about every 10 to 15 years. When one starts leaking, I get a new set of JD or Stanadyne boots new ring clamps. Agree the newer style is more dependable.
Bandit, I 💜 lunchboxes also. GMTA. Ben, Your sparkling personality was throwing extra sparks. Thats why you were getting shocked. Where's the HyVee truck?
Ben I wish you'd get PTO guards, in the UK we have seen a load of farmers killed and arms ripped off by PTOs when a stray piece of clothing catches and pretty much everyone is now very on the ball about having the PTO guards fitted and working correctly. The toll on your mental health having had to deal with this type of accident when it happens to someone working with you, is just not worth it. Your grounding incident could just as easily be a PTO incident. Please don't put it off. Love the videos by the way.
@@iowANFarmer still best to take the live wire of the battery that way the battery is isolated from the whole frame. by taking of the earth the battery is still feeding all the wires to every switch.with 12v and up to 400 amps like a electric welder ready to go zzzzapppp
Check with “One Lonely Farmer “ about learning to rebuild engines particularly John Deere. Perhaps he come to you or you go to him to transfer knowledge👍 Good luck my friend😁
I think RUclips put this into my feed because of the word "Grounded" which means something rather different around here. But obviously tractors and boats are much the same - batteries and engines 😁

I think that’s what we are thinking as well.
Hi there you can't get a shock from that sort of work.
only by earthing the frame to ground
30000 volts of static to ground nylon tyres dont carry currant it builds up till
zzzapppp
Doggone, you treat you dog like he's a dog . 🐕 I always liked paying a service call and not having to buy a motor. Happy 😊 harvest.🌽🌽🌽!!!
I don’t like paying service calls.
I learned early in my Military career.... ALWAYS remove the ground cable/connection before anything.... LOL
In my mind I was removing the ground by removing the clamp. I just became the ground.
That was one electrifying vlog!
Just shows that your a well grounded farmer! Your outstanding in your field.

Ben. Look up "Western Truck and Tractor Repair" on YT. He works on Deere equipment. Rebuilds engines. And what ever needs to be done mechanically.
I watch him from time to time. Insanely mechanically inclined.

A shocking number of electrical problems can be attributed to that exact cause: "...crud in it or something..." Heavy on the "something".
Hahaha
