The Antagonistic Anonymous - Hey John & Co, The first fan reactions to Morbius are out and unfortunately it does seem like the film does not live up to expectations. The common cons of the film that are featured throughout the reactions include messy plot with poor CGI. However one of the more consistent concerning cons of the reactions were the post-credit scenes which are labeled as one of the worst/most-confusing post credits scene ever featured. John, my hype and expectations for Morbius are down to zero so I was wondering What are your thoughts now on Morbius and its fan reactions?

This movie has looked horrible since the first trailer and the deception they've been generating headlines with is (should be) a crime.
I suppose now that the director has come out and spoiled the after credit sequences himself my initial statement is somewhat wrong.
However, a, what sounds like, poorly thought out, thrown together end credit sequence is NOT a movie. Your advertising and yes, headline generating efforts, should be focused on the films story. It’s characters. It’s theme’s. It’s performances. Not 2 minutes of bullshit after the credits roll.
I'm with Kris on this, I literally never thought it looked like a good movie from the first footage they released

I don't quite understand how one can be excited about these (Sony Verse) movies. There isn't anything about them, and their marketing, that gets me going. There is always this underwhelming B-Movie feel about them. Haha

After john said he found Venom 2 really fun I wouldn't be shocked if he likes Morbious as well ... I love John as a person and I watch his show every day but still I don't know why he liked Venom 2 which was a disappointment and it was only saved by its post credit scene which at the end of the day led to Nothing 😂

director Daniel Espinoza confirmed in an interview yesterday that Morbius takes place in the Venom universe and Vulture got sent there because of the Doctor Strange spell

Everything Sony touches since Spider-Man 2 in 2004 turns to shit, Venom 1 and especially 2 were not good movies either.

The Amazing Spider-Man movies were okay, but very meh too. It seems, without Marvel and Feige helping Sony with Tom Hollandverse, Sony kinda sucks at this comic book stuff post 2004.

I agree with what everyone here has said. Sony had its golden era with the Raimi movies, but we’re well over decade removed from that era of comic book movies and Sony has not been able to keep up. TASM series has its fans but were far too mediocre, Andrew Garfield deserved better. And now with these solo villain movies, Sony is just proving they have no idea what they’re doing without Feige’s guidance. Spiderverse is the one exception, but I’d credit that to the brilliant Lord and Miller duo producing/writing those. That’s Sony’s only critical Spider-Man hit since 2004, that speaks volumes.

The weird thing is that they had 3 years to work on this movie and they once again dropped the ball !!! Then again the trailers didn't look good either. Sony's plan to build their universe with turning spiderman's villain into antiheroes just doesn't work and is a terrible idea

I don't think we can give Sony a pass on Spiderman movies when their last great solo Spider-Man movie was 18 years ago and Spider-Verse was made by Sony Animations which is a completely different entity. Sony's current track record for non-animated Spiderman movies is Venom which is mostly dumb fun and Morbius which (seems to be) the same without the fun.

Spider-Man no way home got help from DISNEY AND FEIGE. How do you mess up Morbius when you have a ton of information at your disposal in comics? Morbius has a rich story. He is a tragic, and flawed character. If SONY had gone to ask Feige for help, they could have pieced this film with Blade. Mark my word. KRAVEN WILL BE A DISAPPOINTMENT AND MADAME WEB WILL BE A FLOP. Worldwide Venom 2 made $502,050,366. Venom 1 made $856,085,151. The Spider-Mans all did better because they were assisted by Disney. SONY CAN'T WIN WITHOUT DISNEY. They are all over the place, they hire the wrong directors, they focus on big names to carry their films instead of giving us an accurate sensible origins story.

If this movie ends up being a total bomb I think it’s maybe because of what Rob said about it being in limbo for years and maybe Sony at some point interfered and made changes to it for some reason. I’ve never had the highest expectations for it but I thought the trailers were decent enough and I’m still somewhat interested and curious but the reactions are a concern for sure, guess I’ll find out on Thursday.
I was looking forward to seeing this, Morbius should have been pretty straightforward, plenty of material to source from..(will still go and see it ) but got a feeling that the "sonic " Sequel is going to be the real winner of this one.

I've heard the post credit scene made Michael Keaton's Vulture travel to the universe of morbius/venom because of the spell of Dr.Strange which makes no sense.🤷♀️

1. how can vulture get into the Sony universe? If it because doc. Strange spell in nwh ending than didn't it suposed to be the other way around? The sony universe villains transported back into their own universe like venom, goblin, etc..
2. How can vulture even get his suit? didn't thingker is the one who make the suit in homecoming? And even then he still needs the chitaury tech to create it
3. I didn't see morbius yet but from the trailer isn't morbius supposed to be an anti-hero and he's also a doctor meaning that he's smart enough to be one so why would he agree to vulture suggestion in going after spiderman?? especially since morbius barely had anything to do with spiderman to begin with? (None of the trailer suggest that he have any connection to spiderman)

Although I’m still excited for it I kinda expected this movie to get negative critic reactions, because let’s face it, this entire Sony-Verse has been built on movies that’ve gotten bad critic reactions, go back and look at the RT scores for Venom 1 & 2, they’re both rotten, and at the same time the audience scores are significantly higher, this seems more like a cult movie universe than a critical darling universe, so I kinda expected that to continue, I’m still excited for it because while I didn’t like the first Venom I did enjoy Let There Be Carnage, so it looks like this universe thus far has been improving, so I hope that continues on into Morbius, also why do I get the feeling that the post credit scene outrage has something to do with having a new Spider-Man who’s not Tom Holland?

And would like to see Morbius interact with Blade in the MCU and see that dynamic like the comics. Spiderverse is good but that excuse is getting old. It's great because of Lord and Miller, not sony clearly
@@pseudocide. We're going to get the symbiote storyline in the next Tom Holland Spiderman movie anyway, and I don't think that story has to have Venom in it anyway. Spiderman has such a deep rogue's gallery, it's fine if some of his villains can't show up.
EDIT: Having Venom in the symbiote storyline may actually make it too similar to Spiderman 3, which isn't a something they want.
@@magic75450 I never said it should be one movie. The dream would be over the course of the trilogy is the black suit. Just an idea I''ve seen Coy Jandreu talk about. Marvel knows what characters should get a solo film, only now have they experimented with some deep cuts getting solo projects as shows but Sony doesn't have that luxury. They do not have a mapped out plan which is unfortunate. Just kind throwing things out there to see what sticks. To each their own and I respect your opinion. I just would rather see Kraven as a great Villain for a movie or Morbius as a great reoccuring character, not so much leading up their own films. Like Madame Web would be great to see but her as the star of a film, has me a little cautious.
Hearing how bad the quality of the film doesn't surprise me, I expected that based on the trailers. However I am very surprised to hear how we were deceived by the Spiderman references
I agree with Kris, honestly this film looked like it was gonna be mediocre from the very first trailer, and my expectation kept dipping further with each new marketing material. Sony seems to be putting so little care into these villain movies, it’s embarrassing but expected at this point.
From the trailers seems like they managed to make a inherently cool dark vampire villiam into another watered down boring early 2000’s hero(ala affleck daredevil). This movie should be waaay more interesting and stylized than it looks from the trailers.
Why Sony is doing solo films for characters like Morbius and Kraven is beyond me. You have characters like Spider-Gwen, Silk, Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2099,and you do Morbius? You have multiverse of Spider-Men . The path is so clear. How do they not see it?!

Which villains are in the sinister six since Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman, Lizard are all normal sane people now and well known on screen. Plus most of these characters were the popular villains that worked well in their movies or were made more popular in No Way Home (electro). What does Morbius have against Spider-Man who he hasn’t even met yet?

I never had any expectations for this movie. The trailer looked like generic cheap trash. Sony can't make "Marvel" movies. The Venom movies are forgettable and Disney Marvel basically made the new Sony Spiderman movies. The first 2 Toby Spiderman movies were great but that was 20 years ago. The only good "Marvel" movie Sony has done in recent years is Into the Spiderverse which was fantastic. Maybe they should stick to animation & subcontract all their live action "Marvel" movies out to Kevin Feige and Disney.

Trailers looked good. What happened? Venom 1 and 2 were not great. They were silly and not up to MCU standard. Madame Webb sounds bad. How many times does Sony have to fail before they give Spiderman back to MCU? Can we just admit that the Tom Holland spideys were only good because of Feige?
MCU standards aren’t a very high bar, and I agree.
At this point they'll never give him back... Apparently it's the only true good thing they have going.
Even if they stop making Venom and Morbius movies, they still have no reason to "give the rights back to Marvel". They get to milk the financial profit from Spiderman for decades to come, and still benefit financially from having Spiderman in the MCU.
And they made Spiderverse, which is great, and would've never been made at Disney. Won an academy award for Best Animated Feature and the sequel might make good money.
Venom movies still make a profit though, so I guess some people like the films. 🤷♂️ Haven't seen them myself.
EDIT: They also use their Spiderman-sharing with Disney to get exclusive Playstation games for Spiderman, Miles Morales and Wolverine.

Did anyone really think this movie was even going to be average (besides john)? Sony can't be trusted to make good comic book movies, even the venom movies were barely average themselves. Casting Jared Leto was a terrible move because most people will know him from his awful appearance as the joker in SS, not to mention just generally being a shitty person IRL. This is no surprise to anyone.

The fact that people are calling the movie boring is what is disappointing. Like, Venom and Venom 2 aren’t great or even particularly good movies, but they are fun. I had hoped Morbius was at least fun on that level. I am also morbidly curious about this post credit scene. Seriously, how bad can a post credit scene be to warrant this type of criticism.

I've been a fan of the character since the 70's so I'm gonna be there regardless. I think I'll like it.
