MechE from California; I initially chose ChemE, because I thought it sounded cool. An associates degree in Chemistry later I picked MechE for my transfer college and I love it. I disagree with the degree of difficulty you labeled it as especially with courses like dynamics, fluids, and mechanical behavior of materials are usually taken in the same semester can be harsh. Great video, always love your content!

Hahaha yeah watching it back I would have probably swapped mechanical & software engineering based on the math required. But I predicted I would make some people mad and difficulty is certainly personal to a degree 😉
Thanks a lot for your comment, I really appreciate it!

hello Anna I'm a masters student so my research is about plant simulation of a battery factory based on intelligent manufacturing. Your help is mostly welcomed since you are in that field. In terms of plant layout and other key factors when designing that kind of plant. Thank you in advance

Hi, I'm afraid I can't really help with any specifics like that since I have signed an NDA for my work. I highly recommend you read the book "Lithium-Ion Batteries: Basics and Applications" by Reiner Korthauer. It has lots of helpful knowledge on the specific challenges connected to producing batteries, the different production steps and the features they require from the battery plant.

Hi Anna, thanks again for your wonderful videos!
I have a few ME undergrad related questions/video ideas for you.
    (1) How important would you say it is to undergrad MEs to join engineering societies/organizations? I know some are country specific (i.e. ASME here in the US) but others are global (SAE, SME).
    (2) What were your most/least favorite undergrad engineering classes and why?
    (3) What undergrad engineering classes did you find most/least useful in your career/life in general?
    -C

Thanks a lot! I'll definitely take these as inspiration for my next videos & the Q&A I'm planning soon :)
Here are some quick answers already:
      (1) I don't think it's very important. I'm sure it can help you network & build your skills but I would only do it if you're really excited about it because engineering school is hard enough without forcing yourself to do random other things on the side. I think it's great for your skills & CV if you can do SOMETHING besides engineering school, e.g., a sports, joining a club, volunteering etc. but I don't think it's important that it's related to engineering. Now, if you think you will enjoy joining such a club, of course do, but since you're asking that question I assume that's not the case :D
      (2) My favorites were all projects where I got to be creative and work with other people - building & programming an autonomous model vehicle, designing a device that can detect pests on tomato plants, designing a motorcycle transmission :) Least favorites were control theory and thermodynamics because they were really tough.
      (3) Again, I think the projects I got to do were most useful for me to learn how to plan a project, work with other people from different disciplines and do design iterations to get to a final design, which are all things I frequently do for work.

Thanks Anna! Yeah you’re right lol. I’m not sure I have the time/energy/interest in joining a club on top of taking classes. We have something called vertically integrated projects - VIPs - (lame acronym, I know) at my school. I’ll probably join one of those as my extracurricular activity (hopefully it will be both collaborative and creative) What was your extra-curricular activity as an undergrad?

Calculus was a real pain 😢😭😭😭 I don't even wanna think about it I don't think we even need that much complicated Calculus in Civil Engineering except Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Structures

She is right coz Mechanical and Civil has some similar subjects like Mechanics ,Dynamics Fluid Mechanics , Structures even u guys have to learn beam Analysis so its just like Civil 👀

Hi, do you remember me?, I have followed your advice and got admission in Portsmouth for Mechanical Engineering, thee fees is around 60,000 pounds, is it worth it?, I’m starting at age 26 and will take me 3 years, so I will finish at age 29, will I be too old to get a job?…. Please reply Thank You

      Congratulations on getting admitted!
I think it’s great that you’re looking at this from a financial standpoint. However, it’s hard for me to say since I don’t know your financial situation and the engineering salaries in your country. Do you know how long it will approximately take you to earn back that money? If it takes a couple of years, it’s probably fine. If it takes several decades, it might not be.

    • @Imwalking09

@@theannareich It will take me around 12 years probably, but if i get a job in UK i think it will take less.

    • @theannareich
      @theannareich  Год назад +1

I see, then I guess it's a matter of weighing that up against your alternatives and thinking of ways of improving your chances of getting a job in the UK. What would you do if you don't pursue this degree?

Please in the part 2 explain the differences between production & industrial engineering
And i was wondering are those engineering majors I mentioned ,a part of mechanical engineering?
Because in Iran is different I guess
I don't know what I have to do
