Jill, Justin, and Amber conspired to STEAL the sleeping bags from people who were trying to survive the bitter-cold nights in the Alaska autumn; Justin stole the bags and then mocked those who had to suffer for his selfish crime. Then he participated in destroying Javier's camp. Then he was caught lying among his co-conspirators and accused of stealing food. Finally, he shredded the shelter of his co-conspirators and abandoned them. Pressure does not make character; pressure reveals character. Their character was revealed and, hopefully, one of them might eventually grow from it when they receive the shame they brought on themselves by their vile conduct. This was hardly a survivor show, and these guys comparing their experience with the genuinely skilled survivalists on Alone is humorous. The only thing good that came from this show was that Jill and Justin and Amber were all losers in the end.

The first 4 nights didn't freeze over. So I think I'll stick to believe Javi and producer/camera guy that mentioned it.
They also have a temp gauge that they showed. So unless the show lied about that too, there's first hand witnesses saying it was the colder, video evidence it got colder, and the showrunners state was colder.
It might have warmed up, but one of the coldest nights was when they were sleeping bagless.

With peace and love the real reason they didn’t let Javier or Justin stay is because it was a ~$250,000 decision both times. They knew that neither Javier nor Justin would go join the Demon Squad so it was an easy elimination and a bigger split of the million.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,”
Javier was the only real strong man in the show with a big heart and integrity. Yes, this was a perfect social experiment.
It's not enough to be a good person. One must be brave to defeat the evil.
What I find astounding, is when Justin came to join 'Charlie' he was rejected, when these (weak & spinless) men found out he sabotaged the Alpha's tarp - ''they morally couldn't align'' with Justin's action and rejected him subsequently, oh, the irony!!
But they quite happily watched Jill & Amber stealing Delta's sleeping bags and watched Javier being attacked by these despicable (literally) evil women and did nothing but rejoice. 'Charlie' also rejected Javier as 'it would upset the group dynamics''.
But their morals were content to invite pure evil Jill into their group after witnessing all the destruction she caused.... Didn't 'Charlie' also snatch 3 crab pots to weaken the other groups when they only needed one to satisfy their needs? Where were their morals then?
It's abundantly clear that should we have food scarcity, humanity would reveal itself.. and it won't be pretty.
Brilliant show, that shows human wickedness, weakness and cowardice in all its glory. Some obvious, some disguised-ugly nevertheless. The only man who deserved to win was Javier. He is a true gem and one I would want on my team!

I see all these comments about none of the winners being deserving of the money. But I disagree. I think the great contestants showed themselves early.
Alpha, Justin - I think he was in a difficult position where he had a team that he needed to play along with to have a chance to win. In his position, I don't know that I'd have played differently.
Bravo, Javier & Brian - I really enjoyed watching both. They were a great pair, and if the show stayed on the initial plan of "Outlast" the other contestants, they'd have been real competitors. Charlie, Angie, Nick, and Seth. Angie came off an asshole in the beginning and proved to be an asset in the first few days. She was super cool until her trip off the land. Seth and Nick showed great character throughout the entirety of the show.
Delta, Joel, Jordan, and Paul. I believed Delta to be the team to win from day 1, and then Jordan medically evacuated. Paul, much respect, brother. Going to Charlie was the right move. Sorry to Joel because he had a difficult loyalty choice to make and had to be besties with Dawn, a move I'd have played the same in his situation but not what I'd want to do if given better options.
I respect all of you guys, Justin good luck to you and your family. Paul and Seth I hope you guys make the most of that success. 🤘

Just watched this show. Charlie claimed they banished Justin due to moral integrity, but they just admitted that they were cheering Alpha on. This felt like a social experiment. This is why laws and rules exist. With no rules, they decided to behave like cowards and animals. The good people were overpowered by the bad. Not because the bad outnumbered them, but because too many chose to look the other way. They all knew that being in the elements unprotected was dangerous.

I am glad to hear Justin's perspective and it matched with the glimpses we got from the show. I sensed because he was a fighter, he knew how to be ruthless, and its a fine line to walk with ruthlessness, but when you came clean, it showed you were still trying to walk that line (unlike the girls, who seemed to relish in the power of their cruelty). There has to be some honor in the competition, some respect found in a victory. Still, knowing that thievery and blatant sabotage naturally leads to a state of "war", how can you say you would do it again? Later, you admit that the game couldn't meaningfully function with that kind of behavior. How do you have remorse in one case and not the other? You argue for the truth of the mat, why not a truth of the wilderness? This is why Javier was so great, he showed us he was fighting for the truth of the game, and maybe you and Javier are the same person which circumstance fated to be different. Would have been really interesting to see you guys on the same team.
You are far too gracious to team Charlie, whose success largely came in being opportunistic. They always benefited from thievery, including having the ability to vote you out on "moral" grounds to increase their payouts. Their primary redeeming quality was that they were pit against the most unsavory duo one can imagine. You guys say its just a game, but you don't give that much of yourself to a game without some greater reason beyond the game. For the winners, the spoils are real. No need to apologize and no need to atone. No need to distill the difference between happenstance and merit, and it doesn't seem like you're inclined to do so either. Not surprising.

It's so great to hear Justin redeem himself by reflecting on the lessons that the Universe is sending him. That's a greater gift than money can buy.
Thank you for diving into the mental health component of this. There are physiological componants to trauma that can create pitfalls for people. So the recovery process is going to be different for everyone, especially when we had just come out of a global pandemic. Yikes! And it raises a lot of great sociological questions. Historically, how has cultural trauma affected integration and adaptation? Would innovation be as progressive if people didn't feel that they were suffering? Does understanding the physical componants of trauma help the "mind over matter" spirit? Crazy awesome discussions to be had! I think I could teach an entire semester of sociology or psychology class, using an episode a week. It is legitimately the smartest reality show out there!

I can't watch all now, but want to day one thing; to see people trashtalk... think all is skripted because of some random animals fimed and than a nother... it made me think over... with what ... mindset I step to the comments and opinions of other people.
This was a really interesting and fascinating show and even showed so much important truth about us and how our minds / morals / body's work.
It baffled me... that some people writing heir comments about x and y ... did not even think about the absurde effort and effects of staying there for 2 let alone 5 weeks.
What your mind... your body... grinds ... you down. What is luck, what is skillset. How much raw footage there was and hat to be worked through for us to watch this seemingly straight forward story... with drama, hope, excitement etc.
And to here people talk about it like " a bad survival show" bc of some stupid reason like they did xy- it made me bitter and furious too, what alpha did, but just use that as knowledge... this is how people will act when the sakes are high enough. Seems like some people have never been wronged without redemption. Like... sorry, but this is how it often works... just see this and think about our ancestors... how we worked out family, faith, group identity and difficult decisions in ... how do u say it - inconsistenc with those values.
Or how ruthless managers think- how people think then they prioritize different things. Fascinating!

The analogy of what Paul did would probably be ending a relationship with a phone call instead of face to face meeting ;).
While I don't think Paul did anything wrong I can't say that about Justin.

I like watching Alone a lot but this show definitely did add some unique and different elements.
Paul as hard of a decision as that was, I would’ve done the same thing, I couldn’t see that team making it much further.
I hope y’all 3 pooled $25K each or something and gave it to Angie.
Best of luck on your future endeavors, was a great show to watch.

I think Justin might have been hired by the producers, to sway the show, which he did an excellent job.
Possibly extensive military background (special operations).
“JustinCourt” brilliant name for the character he played. HILARIOUS!
His move of leaving the women was the only way Netflix could set up a “men vs. women” scenario without making it look politically incorrect.
SUCH GOOD ENTERTAINMENT! This was the only man soap opera I watched, laughed my ass off. Binge watched the entire season, thanks dudes!!!

I totally missed the part about how the winning team must be no more than 4 members, interesting! I don't think the show did a good job laying out the game parameters, but I thought it was overall very entertaining to watch. I didn't read anything more into the human behaviour aspects because like you said, it's a game show. No need to attack anyone after the fact for how they played. But you're also right, if the show was able to make people get invested emotionally, then they did a great job with editing a compelling story.
