I read somewhere once that the Secret Service (or any passive protection force) has to get everything right every time, but a possible shooter only has to get it right once.
Of course, I am interpreting it as defining the Secret Service. This incident will unfortunately define the now former head of the Secret Service.

Yeah, so what typically happens... In the Congress building event, the Uvalde thing, the chemical dumb train disaster... What typically happens is exactly what she is doing. No answers. Were always waiting for this, that, and the other. Nothing is a real answer. Were always "waiting" for other people to make their statement... And when it happens, its wrapped up in obscure language, legal-talk, and nothing ever points directly at any person.
Thats what would happen here too. They would have had a 600 page account of the records and presented it, thick as a bible, some time in 2025. When its safely out of the media and out of peoples immediate memory. This is just the American way.
So forcing her to resign on the spot like this, is actually completely unheard of.

The hard fact around this whole subject is she did not know how to do that job in the first place, and should have never been appointed to that position . I think she is the ultimate scapegoat and I hope people don't stop looking for the answers into the whole story of what happened. . There is so much more to this than anyone has been told as of yet. I listened to hearing. It was ridiculous how she claimed to take responsibility, then proceeded to not answer the questions or out right lied. Cenk is spot on that she needed to be fired a couple days afterwards.
An interesting note I approved of both AOC’s and MTG’s grilling 😅. I don’t normally like either of them, but they addressed real issues with the secret security.
There was some occasional grandstanding, but mostly Congress was pissed off and asking good/pointed questions.
The question about drones and the possibility of drone assassinations is something that needs to be addressed yesterday. I can’t remember which rep brought it up, but that was one of the more important things to improve in the future.

I have been thinking more about EX-Secret Service Director Cheatle's first answer right off the bat in this clip and the more I mull it over, the more troubling it becomes. Congresswoman MTG asked Cheatle point blank "Was there a CONSPIRACY to KILL President Trump?"-- and Cheatle reflexively replied "Absolutely not." Think about that -- especially in light of what we HAD seen out of Cheatle until she resigned:
1. Absolutely ZERO briefings or statements to the media for the American People (and certainly NOT "daily" ones either);
2. CONTINUED SILENCE from her DESPITE getting raked over the coals DAILY from the normally Democrat-sympathetic media and various pundits;
3. LIES from Cheatle promising to brief U.S. Senators about their concerns ... only for her then to be filmed PHYSICALLY RUNNING AWAY FROM THEM and HIDING behind a LOCKED DOOR guarded by Secret Service agents !
4. A REFUSAL on her part to visit the Butler, PA shooting sight.
5. Another REFUSAL on her part to PREPARE in advance for the Congressional hearing/her testimony, to have at least some helpful answers to extremely foreseeable and easy Qs, and/or to bring along to Capitol Hill the subpoenaed documents and materials Congress requested.
6. When she uttered any form of hearing response (rare occasion), Cheatle engaged in an ONGOING PATTERN of:
a) SAYING virtually NOTHING of any SUBSTANTIVE or FACTUAL VALUE -- even though her Congressional testimony was a full 9 days following the near-assassination of former President Trump (!!!)
b) LOTS of quibbling on her part,
c) LOTS of her claiming that she "doesn't know the answer" to whatever question any particular Member of Congress asked, and
d) LOTS of her saying "I can't answer that; it's a matter of ongoing internal Secret Service investigation that we need 60 days or so to get the answers and put the report together," and/or
e) LOTS of her clamming up and referring matters to / hiding behind the FBI criminal investigation.
That all adds up to a woman with a DEMONSTRATED RECORD of DOING NOTHING BUT STONEWALLING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And now for the ultimate irony: does anyone other than me find it HIGHLY suspicious and EXTREMELY UNWORTHY of BELIEF that SUCH a "Director" who claims to "KNOW NOTHING" can suddenly, definitively, unmistakably, and unequivocally ASSERT that there was (supposedly) "ABSOLUTELY NOT" a conspiracy to kill President Trump ?????????????????????????????? How can a woman who has spent nearly a fortnight doing her very best "Sgt Schultz" (of Hogan's Heroes fame) impression that she "KNOW[s] NOTHING" suddenly and credibly reverse engines and now assert with CERTITUDE that there "absolutely" was "no conspiracy" to murder Trump ????????? How is that assertion even the least bit believable from such a woman ???????????????????????????????????????????????
This is NOT to say definitively that there "WAS" such a murderous conspiracy. The fact is that "I" DO NOT "KNOW." BUT I am certainly willing to consider the possibility that one existed -- not least of which because of Crooks' secretive accounts ... and the fact that a LIAR Director is "assuring" us that "no such" conspiracy existed. (her reputation as a LIAR is more than enough to make me believe the oppositre of whatever Cheatle says). And because the FBI has long ago DESTROYED THEIR OWN CREDIBILITY over all the CROOKED actions they took against Trump (and on behalf of Hunter & Joe Biden), I WILL NEVER TRUST the claims of the FBI ever again, either (until the FBI is completely purged and re-built from the ground up with trustworthy agents).
DEI is the ability to say " i deserve this job cause who and what I am. Not on qualifications and not on merit. This is another failure of America for Us and for our children and grandchildren... Until we understand that schooling and hard work is what gets you ahead in life, not just cause you are a woman or a person of color or a immigrant.
You are confusing equity with equality. DEI is about ensuring people get equal access to the opportunities based on their merits (that's the equity). So many people will only hire a "white guy" (and yes, I am a white guy), even if other people are fully qualified. The goal of DEI is to ensure that other qualified people also have access to opportunities for which they are qualified, and making sure that role qualifications are based on role needs, not based on how to exclude people who are qualified for the role.

A female Media owner hired only women, in around 2 years the all female staff bankrupted her. They all started on high salaries, because 'we are worth it'
Many companies are now floundering when women and POCs are simply jammed into positions to satisfy some quota to make it 'fair'. Time and again we get examples of DEI hires not even being base competent, let alone the best choice. This event is merely a higher profile example of the general trend of DEI hireing across all sectors.

It was not “a failure”. The young man and the SS Director were CHIVOS EXPIATORIOS. By no answering the questions, the Director was protecting herself from being “dispatched”.

I would slightly tweak Ro, with whom I agree the most, to say if there is an assassination attempt that reaches the point of actual harm or risk of harm. If they caught Crooks as he was positioning, I'm not sure she should have been fired. That's more debatable.

Everyone understood that Trump could have been any one of them and they understood fully well what would have happened if the shooter had succeeded. The decision to call for resignation was not negotiable
There are two points of failure here. One is the delegation of the responsibility for the roof. The second is why the cop who found the kid on the roof didn't rase enough alarm bells when he decided that he needed to go up there and check. Unless she was directly involved with either of those failures, I don't see why she needs to go.
